As far as I'm concerned, it's subpar acting, kinda meh special effects, and an uninteresting plot. Maybe I'm just not a huge fan of sci-fi (even though I absolutely loved Interstellar and the Martian (the book, haven't seen the movie yet)), but I really just don't see what the fuss is about.

And now my friends want to go see it tonight, and I don't have the heart to tell them I don't give a rip. I want to hang out with them, I really do. But I just can't imagine going to the theater an hour early, dealing with the millions of other people who will be in line trying to get in, then sitting down and being forced to watch a movie I care nothing about instead of actually getting a chance to interact with my friends.
I believe you and I love that word "Nerdgasms", The best description I ever heard..
I watched the original, which was the best when I could get it on Netflix at home, I would not freeze in a line of idiots for any good reason let alone some dumb (not even good) movie that has been Media-Hyped all out of proportion...

@Spellbee2 I think the starwars thing is maybe a real nostalgiafest idk each to their own, as long as they shut up about it, every now and again a mate of my wanted to make an anouncement at work about the importance of the film @@

Rant: I actually kinda annoyed at the whole star wars thing, its the disneyfication of eastern philosophy, saying that someone has to be generitcally predisposed to be "great" and be in touch with the universal force, mostly I ignore this.

The mithocondrians (not sur of the spelling of that...) thingy is really a bad move in my opinion. The Force didn't need a scientific justification, Starwars isn't a hard science SF at all and a touch of inexplicable didn't detract from the story. 1-2-3 suffer from overexplaination and handholding, we would have been fine without definitive answer about things like anakin's father and the origin of the ability to use The Force. //nerd rant over

I was into STAR WARS, but it's so mainstream now. It's like FB, Twitter, and Instagram.

You really-really need to put "Nerdgasm" on Wikipedia ... A great new word to be added to the English language (I love it)

I think this is the right place to post this? Honestly, I've little to no experience with posting on forums. But here goes.

I've been diagnosed with narcolepsy for a while. I could do without the excessive daytime sleepiness, but really enjoyed having vivid and detailed dreams practically every night, and I was very into lucid dreaming. I'd have them five or more times a week. It was a great time. I was prescribed Provigil to help with my excessive daytime sleepiness (I was losing a lot of class time to sleep). It worked pretty well, but wasn't enough for me to feel like a normal human again. So in addition to that, I've more recently been prescribed Xyrem, which has helped my EDS considerably. This one totally knocks you out at night. So, my once screwed up, wonky sleep cycles are now forced to operate more normally. No more falling asleep directly into a dream for me I'm very sad and irritated about it. I used to dream all through the night, and now I only start dreaming when the medicine fades out around 5 AM. But that's when I wake up for school!

So now I can only pursue my hobby of lucid dreaming during naps. I don't get many opportunities for real naps, being a HS senior with several AP classes... And it's hard to remember to attempt to have an LD during narcolepsy sleep attacks because... Even though I can sense a sleep attack coming on, my head is too foggy at that point to think of anything but sleep itself.

I'm mad that something that was/is almost the core of my personal philosophy, is being stolen away from me just so I can function as a normal, non-narcoleptic person in the waking world. I liked living between the dream world and the waking one. I hate that I've been forced into the mainstream crowd here again too. Being forced to be and think just like everyone else has been a common problem of mine lately.

So sorry for your loss, Stoic.

*glomps Tommo* great to see you here again.

Grats, Anju on the new position

      Hugs to everyone else.

I have been maxed out on socializing, so I've been avoiding my home here. So many Christmas gatherings... and I still don't celebrate lol. So many people- new and old... SO MANY shoppers all hours of the bloody day and night What's an anti-social introvert to do?
I've been playing 7 Days to Die, my iPad and sleeping. My son was finally approved for once a month counseling (instead of weekly). My daughter Destinee married Paula last Friday and they got their own place yesterday... They couldn't bring their cat though. Strangely (STRANGELY) enough, the place allows dogs but not cats They have a roommate, so I'm not sure how all of that's going to work, but they're trying and it's progress.

I vacuumed all the cobwebs from my room earlier and my allergies are very unhappy with me... and so is my bird. He's squawking his head off trying to get me to go to bed. I tried bird, it wasn't happening. Just chill already, eh?

Gah! I should try again anyhow... Destinee will probably be over bright and early wanting me to follow to check out their place...

      Good night, DV.

Oh yes! Welcome sparklyAxolotl! I'm familiar with that struggle, but not completely. I have EDS and took Provigil until my insurance no longer covered it (friggin AMAZING med!). As your sleep "normalizes" more and you adjust, your dreams should get back to normal.

Rave: I knew I shouldn't have relied on electronic weight machines that require you to sit down. Made me think I was losing crazy weight at the time, but I bought a standard weight scale. I'm currently at 247.6 lbs., and hopefully in the next month, I can lose 20 lbs., and maybe 10 more the following month. Finally got the resolution drops shipped at the front door, and took the first of three sessions of taking them. I'm going to save pictures for before and after, and revel in a personal bubble of motivating myself to stick to the diet I have in store.

I really can't wait to push for this, and my job is perfect for staying active along with doing moderate exercise later on when I come home. Here's to dropping those pants sizes.

Bah! I'm leaving in 15 minutes to go see the new Star Wars movie with hubby. I've seen all of them but remember very little about them I've never been a huge fan even though I LOVE sci-Fi and space adventures.
      I hope it's not a total zoo.

I used to worry about my daughter stalking me here. But I'm a pretty open book anyhow, so I let go of the worry. This is just MY place dagnabbit.

Rant: My room smells like pee. No animals come in here (except the dog and I'd notice if she left a puddle).
Rant; 10 minutes left and I forgot to put on makeup......

      • Day 1 of the diet ended, and I lost 1.4 lbs.! I cheated a little and had to eat a few pieces of tamales from the store celebration, but thanks to astronomical sales, there was a lot of physical activity to compensate.
      • Got a $40 tip from some random lady for a carry-out.
      • I was going to give up interacting with a co-worker of mine for fear of fraternization, and after avoiding her for most of the day yesterday, she told me to just put my number down on her phone so it’s easier to talk to her than FB. Wow, gg no re.

@Kaitakaro The old fat guy dates back to when people worshipped the earth goddess and god at this time of year, infact he can be traced back through most pantheons, so as long as humans have been around pretty much.
He died at the winter solstice so that the earth could be renewed (hence the coming of spring). His cloak was red because it was drenched in his blood, which drained into the ground to create fertility.
Oh I do much prefer the original to the christian remake, then again I prefer the christian to the modern remake. I thought about telling the original story to my class at school, then thought nawww.
I made them watch stuff about european traditions

I sure hope they will! If not, I can try and make naptime a regular thing again (actually laying down in bed- nap attacks don't count lol). Thank you! Say hi to your bird for me! ^^

I cannot remember the last time I saw a full moon fall on Christmas Day. (In New York the full moon will reach fullness at 6:11 a.m. EST, and in Los Angeles, 3:11 a.m. PST.

Christmas sucks. Or.... maybe my family sucks.

I should be happy, I got a good present, but my family manages to find a way to ruin the whole thing every year.

That idea where you get up excited and open presents and everyone's happy.... that's a myth, right? I mean is that anybody's experience?
Even as a kid I was kinda made to feel like I don't deserve the presents, there was always this feeling of being selfish behind the atmosphere of the whole thing.

And over my teen years I just didn't really want anything, and felt the whole thing was a waste of resources for the most part. Just creating more plastic rubbish.
I still feel that way and would rather not have presents. I've said this before to my mum too, just to not get anything. Because I usually don't really want anything, and if I do really want something, I'll save up to buy it for myself. But then she gets presents anyway, and now that I've got a job I feel bad for not getting everyone else stuff, even though most of the time they don't like the stuff and I hate giving them stuff because it's a waste of resources on useless shit....

There's just so many intertwining reasons that make me feel shit on this day every year. I think next year I'll just refuse to take part.

"Go back to work, Harry!" That was my moms most famous phrase while growing up. The holidays were no exception. Someone usually ended up crying before the day was over So, yeah, I never had that totally wonderful Christmas experience.

I hope everyone got what they wanted and gave just as good

I went to my daughters new place today. Paula bought me a nice dress and a cross necklace with earrings. I didn't have the heart to tell her I would not wear the necklace. She also gave me a beautiful card. It was a quick visit. I then came home and finally went to sleep. Only to wake up with the worlds worse headache

Hubby and I gave the girls $100. BUT, if they end up moving back home, they have to pay it back. It wasn't a Christmas thing, more a house warming incentive. I wanted to give them more but hubby wasn't budging... then I thought of adding the clause to the "gift" and he agreed.

Huh... I just realized I ate all of my apple strudel tea bread. Hopefully, hubby will send me to Sheetz this evening for some "real" food. That tea bread is about the only thing I ate for the last 2 days (It was a 6 servings loaf)
Time to find something to hold me over...

Well, hubby's getting his $100. back. The girls are coming home
      The story:
Paula was driving too quickly. The landlord sped to their home, jumped out of his vehicle and started cursing Paula. Paula went back to work. Destinee and Lauri (roommate) went to the landlords house to talk things out more and to let him know not to yell at them like that. He got into my daughters face, cursed her, told her they had to move out that day. Paula called me from work. I went over. Paula got off work. *I* went and spoke to the landlord and got a different story.
He swears he didn't curse Paula but admitted to getting in my daughters face because she went to HIS house and got in his face first.
They now have until Monday to get out.

Hubby's not letting me help them move back. He's worried about the rumor mill affecting his business (it's bad enough there's 2 married lesbians, a pedo, and a transgender person living on HIS property- but helping them move somehow makes everything worse).
And my daughter's mad because Lauri can't come with them. I told her she's lucky hubby's letting her and Paula come home and to not push her luck.

Gotta say: there's never a dull moment around here

I also told them it was a blessing in disguise. Their trailer makes me sick. Instant headache from all of the previous water damage. I also feel like I'm walking on a boat, going through the place, so there's some major structural damage. And if the landlord is crazy enough to do something like this right off the bat, imagine having a home full of furniture. It was a month to month lease.
I told them to learn from this and plan better in the future. Paula's all sorts of depressed about the setback and Destinee is PISSED. But what can you do.

They hadn't payed the man anything yet. Yes, they signed a lease. But it's a he-said-she-said ordeal. Their version points to a very confrontational and unbalanced man. If he gets in their face, tempers will flare and Paula might deck him... then the cops would get called and Paula could lose her job. They still have options (here). Don't make things worse. Yeah, they lost money on hookups but it's a lot less than it could have been.

NOW, I have to go to dinner with hubby, his daughter and her fiancee.

Yep.. there's an old joke that "children never really leave home... they just bring back more with them"
Eventually, they DO leave, but GAH, the process is long and annoying at times

Dinner was amazing... and went right through me I cannot eat real food for anything. I run to the toilet minutes after eating (which still baffles me).
Processed garbage doesn't cause as many troubles. Boy my taste buds were in heaven though.

My crazy itchy finger is back. I can't blame it on cold weather but it definitely seems to be a seasonal thing.

mighty kitty is back in my grubby cluches for my mother three weeks vacations on the other side of the world. He's napping on my knee, being adorable and weighting 9 kg. All of it on my bad knee.
Yep, everything is in order here.
