Anybody have any experience with DOx?

So a friend of mine recently went to Wakarusa. I asked him to bring me back some Acid, sadly what he brought back wasn't acid... He waited until the last day to buy it, so I'm assuming the people sold it to him knowing he'd be long gone before he realized the bait n switch.

I put one of the hits in my mouth and could immediately tell that it was definitely something else... One of the things I said was "It tastes like.....like poison" It tasted extremely bitter and chemical. I sucked on it for only a minute or so before spitting it out because I didn't know what it was.
I had mild effects, similar to the come up on shrooms. But didn't really trip.

I've done some research and it appears it's a DOx, most likely DOB or DOI, but I don't know if it's possible to tell which it is. Sadly there isn't a whole lot of info on it past Erowid reports and Bluelight posts.

I plan on dropping a full one tonight to see the real effects, but was wondering if someone here might have some useful information.
Anybody experimented with Research Chemicals before, and has something they'd like to share?

I will be exploring a completely unknown dimension tonight. Wish me luck!

I read a police report from michigan one time that stated 80% (or some other ridiculously high percentage) of seized "acid" was actually DOB. I'm sure this is quite often. I've been told that real acid is first and foremost tasteless, and secondly will only last a maximum of 8 hours with 2-6 hours worth of afterglow. I've tripped 'acid' many times, and I'm certain that a good portion of that was DOB as I've had 14 hour trips or so, and those times I can remember the blotter paper tasting a bit metallic.

From what I know (DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH, THIS IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT) DOB and DOI are generally fairly safe, if not just a little less researched than LSD. Higher doses can incorporate some risks though, so anything over 10 hits (80ug standard) can start to become dangerous (vs acid, where the LD50 is so ridiculously high that you'd have to nom down tens of thousands of hits to get there). Keep researching, if you're comfortable enough, try a hit and see how it goes. If you're uncomfortable in anyway, flush them suckers. No point in putting something in your body that you're weary of.

Be smart, have fun, don't take any serious risks.

edit: on a side note about many RCs: a lot of them don't work on a linear effects scale like acid does (IE: 2 hits is 2x the effect of 1 hit). Many of them have a curved effect scale (IE: 2 hits = 1.5x effects of 1 hit, 3 hits = 5x effects of 1 hit, 4 hits = 20x effects of 1 hit, etc). So make sure to see what you can find about dosage increase on the DOx compounds (I would highly assume it's DOB) before you go upping your dose too much.

RCs I've enjoyed:
2c-b -- I like this one because it's mostly visual and hardly mental (trippers know what I mean).
2c-e -- This one causes extremely paradigm shifting thoughts, visuals are strong too, mostly melty/dark colors.
4-aco-dmt -- My all time favorite of anything, it's a psylocin synthetic (which is only one of MANY psychoactive components found in mushrooms). I find this trip to be much cleaner than mushrooms as you've only got one chemical pulling you around instead of many.

Thumbs up to what Artelis said. Its great to research especially before taking anything.

What you'll find is that RC's last much longer in duration than original LSD (some can last 12+ hours so never dose more than one tab in each sheet at once untill you know the duration of both. A lot of people dose up and feel nothing and pop another tab in their mouth... Big mistake. Then they can be tripping for 24 hours or longer). They do taste extremely bitter, in fact they'll taste like a sour or metal/synthetic taste.. so its clear you have an RC.

As far as safety of it you never really know.. Many people take RC's all the time and actually enjoy the trip much more than regular acid. Those people probably would've been pissed if they saw you waste a tab like that but you did the right thing because you weren't sure. RC's also have some physical effects like tight muscles or locked jaw.. Another thing could be that you wake up tomorrow feeling like complete shit because they aren't the smoothest on your system.

But none the less do not be afraid. If you experience any of this or any other effect as it will pass. Also if you're scared don't take it. It may be scary with the "poison" taste, but being scared will just make thiings worse.

Soo enjoy the trip, have a fun time entering the void, and if you have any other specific questions just ask.

acid has all of these mentioned traits as well: tight muscles, clenching, dehydration. It's not just contained to RCs (and remember, acid was an RC at one point too). Many RCs do last longer, but the 2c compounds tend to only last 6-8 hours as acid does. When I use 4-aco-dmt it nearly never lasts much longer than 6 hours with only about 2 hours of afterglow. I find 4-aco-dmt and mushrooms to be the shortest of any "long-form" psychedelic that I've ever experienced.

Very true but from most accounts a lot of RC's seem to make these ailments worse.. But then again its based on you personally and how the final product came out. I've known many people who had RC's, didnt feel them at first, so they popped 1 or 2 more tabs.. Their trips lasted for 24+ hours which would be alittle too intense for me but I guess thats more bang for your buck.

I'm 1 hour in and feelin' good. It's definitely an amphetamine. Similar to adderall feeling at the moment. But I am getting weird visual distortions and the like. Definitely startin' to trip :P.
I'm guessing this is most likely DOB. I'll compare my trip to more reports on erowid when I come down.

Oh, and another interesting thing is they came on two different size blotters. There was 9 big squares and then 5 rectangles that are about 1/3 of the width of the squares. I took one of the smaller ones. Do you guys think the bigger ones would have more of the chemical? If it was just dropped on with an eye dropper they should be the same, but I guess it's impossible to tell.

I did DOB once. It was supposed to be Acid except it lasted way longer than expected.

Anyway, ya, it's not an amphetamine. Psychedelics just have stimulant properties. This is true for pretty much all of them, so nothing weird there. (This is why your mind races).

So how would one tell beforehand whether or not they're getting real LSD as opposed to an RC?

have it tested by a chemist. Or you could do a quick taste test -- if metallic and/or bitter, most likely an RC.

If you've done acid before you should be able to tell as soon as you pop it in your mouth. Acid technically doesn't have a taste, but it kinda does if you've done it before. More of a feeling than a taste, but you can tell none the less. So buy one, pop it, and then buy more accordingly.
If you've never done it before. Then there really isn't anyway to tell other than test it chemically. Just because it doesn't taste metallic/bitter doesn't mean it's acid.

And an update. I did 2 hits of it the other night. I tripped almost exactly the same, but it started out awful. I was nauseous for the first couple hours until I finally threw up. After that it got MUCH better, but it was the same as the first... More of a high than a mind trip:(:(:(.
My friends like doing DXM every couple months or so, but I don't(dissociatives suck!). So I'm just gonna save the rest of it and do it when they robotrip.

Huh, alright. Don't suppose there are any kits that will tell me if it's LSD? I have a neighbour who's a chemist, but considering our relationship it might be a bit odd to request a test of this kind. Otherwise I can likely ask someone who's already done it, but I'd prefer certainty.

Invader: Not that I know of. If you have any friends in school for chemistry, they probably know how to test it.

LikesToTrip: Sounds shitty. I've gotten some nausea from DOx compounds before, but usually a little bit of weed will take care of that. I also get nauseous on the come up of ANY trip, though, but just the come up. If I can cross over into the peak then I'm pretty much fine. Again, weed takes the edge off of that immensely. I'm fairly certain it's just your body going "THIS AIN'T RIGHT, EJECT EJECT ABORT!!" Which is why you feel nauseous.
