Thread: I am taking a break from Dreamviews.

You lost 6 days worth of posts. Judging by the rate at which you post, you lost somewhere around 30 or possibly even less. Don't get me wrong, take a break if you feel you need one but it seems a little dramatic (not the word I'm looking for but it's the closest one I could come up with atm) to stop posting because of that. =/

Anyways, bye and have fun. We'll organize a welcome back party when you return and a swell time shall be had. We're gonna get you fucked up; there's going to be balloons, alcohol, potent herb, strippers, and we'll hire an escort or two. If you're up for it, we'll even let you have a go at Oneironaut.

From what I've gathered, you're a very self-absorbed person. Most of your posts are you being redundant or unhelpful for the sake of being a smart-ass. Now you complain that you're taking a break because you lost posts in the crash? Well I managed to rack up over 120 posts in those 6 days and all were quality posts. You don't see me making a thread whining about it, do you? Maybe you're missing the point of what a post is. It's to give advice, an opinion, or state something to provide a conversational piece or help to another person.

In other words, posts aren't something you use to show off how active you are.

We all lost good posts. I definitely understand the frustration. It goes beyond merely losing posts, it's also about losing trust or confidence in the forum. And perhaps that "sorry for the trouble" isn't the most satisfying apology. But really, when you consider the big picture (which is easy to forget) it's not such a big deal, and it's better to have less emotional attachment to anything electronic and impermanent (and pretty much everything else in the world too). Helps to avoid unnecessary disappointment in future. Have a nice break, don't be a stranger.

No it was 6. I know for a fact because I still couldn't link after the forums were back up and you need to be registered at least 7 to do so. So if I still couldn't link, I was still registered, and yet my post count was down to 4, it had to be 6 days. xD

Totally understand your frustration. But just remember that what you posted was probably already viewed by the majority of your target audience. So remember you still did some good.

But yea, Alex did a heck of a lot to get DV up as quickly as possible and with as little overall damage as possible AND to prevent future damage. Without his determination, you could have found DV to be down for weeks and it opening up again with a month worth of posts gone.
Staff (and even normal members) have also been extremely helpful in getting things back to normal. And members being very patient and understanding has helped a lot too.

I understand you need to calm your nerves for a bit. But just remember how fortunate you were with this. I for one have nothing but appreciation for what Alex, the staff, and everyone else has done in response to the crash.

I bet a couple of people are like "I wonder what Auron is gonna do 2 dat thread?". Merge it...SB it....lock it..beleet it...post something enlightening in it. So many choices, so many options. As I gaze off in to the void, I contemplate these things on a regular basis. Normally, my decisions are swift, to the point, and within my jurisdiction. Sometimes I sit back and wait for one person to "ruin it for everyone", and crush it within a fraction of a second.

My decisions are normally robotic and unbiased as possible. I've heard the great members call out to me and question "Why!? Have you no soul? That thread was the only thing I've ever had going for me in my existence of life, and you destroyed it! How do you sleep at night?", and I remind them that I've been "staying up all night". I treat every thread, like a newborn spartan. I kill it off in it's infancy if it does not meet requirements. If allowed to develop, it becomes a bonsai. It's leaves are pruned to hold aesthetic standards. It would be foolish to compare my my cohorts with the common gardener. Each cut is more intricate than the first, the sword, paintbrush, and logic become indiscernible.

As my mind returns from the void, I realize that this post was created as a reaction of unusual circumstances, which means I will take an unusual approach to it's solution. I will step away, and see what becomes of it. I will let the this "like fest" continue on, and observe the journey that it will ultimately take us on. When my temperament finally changes, it will be locked forever. So hurry my friends, seize this moment in history, and make haste. The Sunchaser has spoken.
