One of my parents makes a lot of noise when they eat.

I won't say which one, on account of privacy and just simple respect.

This person, every time they finish a bite, will make that noise that some people produce when eating a banana. That really gross, "opening your mouth sound" that happens, well, when you widen the inside of your mouth before opening your lips.

It's really frigging irritating; actually, it's bothered me a lot over the past week, to the point where I've had two nightmares in two nights about them, one time being in the kitchen (haha).

Yikes.

I want to tell them. This person, however, is the kind with the "just ignore it" philosophy, so I have no idea how to break it to them that they sound like a piggie when they eat.

Can anyone offer tips? :panic:

Tell your Dad that you can't ignore it, it's really gross. Ask him if he'd be able to ignore it if you started farting in his presence. If he says that's nasty, tell him that his sloppy eating habits are just as disgusting. If he continues, go ahead and let a raunchy one rip while he's gorging himself.

Parents do irritating things. Get used to it...they've lived their lives for several decades now and I really doubt they're going to change the way they eat just because you find it annoying. I think maybe you're the one with the problem if you let it bother you that much! (no offense :P)

i hate that noise too its to annoyign and when my parrents do that for example bro i tell him stop or so .

or maybe tell them can u eat with your mouth closed or how is it called ;D .. so u won't hear any noises.


or listen to music / turn TV louder while eating .. xD idk..

Haha. The only thing is, we've been eating out on the deck for the past few days. "Nice weather ghjkasdflksjqwkl" and all.

do something , think something ...
do a reality check it could help - xD.

Record the sound with a hidden recorder.
Get a bowl of cereal or sketti.
While he is eating and making a bunch of noise, play the recorded sound of him eating, amplified ten fold.
Place your face into your bowl of cereal or sketti and start smearing it around, creating a terrible mess. Blow bubbles in it while you do this.
Throw some of your food in the air, as well.
With food all over your face, clothes, and surrounding area, look at him and tell him that he eats like a pig.
Then spit on his shoes.

Just tell them to stop! If they don't want to stop its their problem and not yours. Maby you should refuse to eat with them until they start trying to eat less disgustingly. :P

One of the best ways to convince someone to change their behavior is to subtlely imply whatever you want them to be like in a seemingly irrelevant context. So like, tell your parents about how good the Royal Family's table manners must be or something along those lines.

I don't think they realize they're doing it, though. They eat... normally, other than the noises? xD

Did you mention anything to this person yet? They're never going to realize until it's brought up haha.
