      Halo.

ok... so I started a new campaign on halo...
I know its out there and im a tard but I figured I would bring it up

      I realised something

Cortana said, "If I still had fingers theyd be crossed" To me this signifies that she was an actual human being and that her memory was implanted into a computer program or turned into one. I wonder it this will be possible soon? we are creating computers so complex now and powerful, and moors law still seems to be holding true (it states that processing power nearly doubles every 18 months or so) and software is getting incredibly complex too, I wonder if someday we will be able to make a copy of ourselves in cyberspace. Think how powerful a program the human mind would be, we would not be limited to the speed of our bodies, our minds work much faster, it would be the perfect solution for commanding a space craft or any other incredibly complex system.

Well anyways, Cortana and the MasterCheif both know each other, I wonder if they knew one another before they were both mechanised.

When they pulled cortana from the Pillar of autumn she seemed upset, it was a big deal, she seemed almost afraid of it. I wonder if when she was compressed into the small storage device if she becomes static, and time stops? could the human consiousness survive that?
It looked like it was optical so perhaps it kept her from being dormant,

Also, when the mastercheif plugged cortana into his suit it would probably be frikin weird having another consiousness contained in one body. I wonder what that would be like, how close would they be?

Yeah yeah I know I am analyzing a video game just humor me =)
Take final fantasy for instance, You could analyze them for a lifetime and still find more to it than meets the eye.

I could be wrong here, but I think Cortana was an actual human. I think she was their best source of information (navigation, environment, scanning, stuff like that) and when she died, they transferred her into that chip. She also survives inside the MC's head, if I remember correctly. She might be one of many symbiotic computer chips specifically designed to help the super-humans like the MC. They never really get into it much, do they? Fucking Bill Gates... he should not have rushed Bungie so much. Halo kicks so much ass now, can you imagine what it would be like if Bungie had been granted a little more time on it?

I'm hoping that they delve into the storyline a little bit more in Halo 2--which I am just as stoked for as I am for Doom 3 (my dad already preordered Doom 3). I don't have an Xbox yet, though, so I'm going to have to wait on Halo 2 for a while.

Anyway, as far as that being possible... transferring our consciousness into a computer or another body? would you want it to be? I'm not sure sure I would want myself replanted in a new body after I die. Well, if the body is some hot and sexy lady, maybe. But it's still creepy to think about.

      Edit: Cuz I spel gud

Ugh. Freaky. And scary, too. The power of a human mind controlled with the super duper calculating capabilites of a computer and you've got something that could have the world up in flames in less than 2 minutes.

Suddenly, a \"human computer\" breaks its programming, and has the freedom to do everything. It replicates, destroying networks, causing nuclear war, bringing every computer in the world down, and causing billions of dollars worth of lost data as well.[/b]
What if we had microchips in our mind, that could save alot of data, and these people sent viruses to this microchip? They could pretty much fry your brain- no thanks, I'll keep my brain silicon free.

I know seri is prolly going to like, hunt my Dream self down and tear me to bits in his dragon form for saying this, But I did not like halo at all. It just seemed, blah. I dunno, i've never been a fan of FPS on consoles, that is the pc's domain IMO, and yet, I DO agree that you could analyze Final Fantasy games and find much more in them.

I love HALO. I don't think the human mind can be contained after death.

Who here thinks 343 will appear in HALO 2?

      Nah no worries Rtex =)

I am a fan of both the PC and the console...

I have to say though hving a nice controller totaly makes an FPS and I never really found one I liked for the pc or I was just lazy...Its not like you need a keyboard anymore, you have voice chat =) And playing on my Bigscreen with dolby surround just rocks. =) still trying to find a vid card that outputs to HD resolutions in a component cable and not the DVI =/ Once I get that I can use my tv as a monitor muhahahaahh would be fun for games

343 is the monitor right? hmm I wonder... I think halo 2 is taking place on earth as the covenant found out were it was...might be interesting.

343 can kiss my Master Chief's ass. I hated that stupid thing. The Library in Halo had to be the worst level for someone like me (I still loved it, it just sucked). I have no sense of direction, and the Library looked exactly the same no matter which way you turned.

It wouldn't surprise me if that metal nutsack made a return cameo in Halo 2. In fact, I hope he does. I hope he's the last boss or something just so I can kick his shiny ass.

I believe that there is an unplayable demo for Halo 2 floating around somewhere. Dave was raving about it when I talked to him the other day. We're both pretty psyched for Halo 2, but I have to say that I'm a little more excited for Doom 3. Been waiting a loooong time for this one. The first thing my dad and I are going to do when he gets the game (other than burn me a copy), is play a co-op game.

Also: Has anyone heard the outtakes from the original Halo yet? I'll see if I can find the url and post it here. It's hilarious.

I hate using anything other than the PC for FPS. Because they're just so damn hard to control.

I was just playing Halo! I really like it, and from what I've heard, 343 finds earth or something like that and you have to save earth or what ever. FU Flood! I hated those little guys. But I really liked shooting those fat ones and they exploded

Oh and I just remembered that I get Counter Strike 2 for free when it comes out b/c I got a new Radion ATI 9700. Can't wait!

My favorite levels are... let's see if I can remember them...

The one called "Halo". I think it's the second map, right after you crash land on Halo. I loved "Truth and Reconcilliation", although I got so tired of hearing that asshole say, "No Covenant, you had to open your mouth." (Damn invisible guys kept killing us so we would have to reload)

The maps that are my absolute favorites would have to be "The Silent Cartographer" and "Assault on the Control Room" (with the snowy fields and the tank!) and the map where you run "Assault on the Control Room" backwards (I don't recall the name of it).

My ex and I went through the entirety of Halo in co-op, switching off with our roommates when we got tired, had to eat, had to pee, etc. Dave and his roommie were going through the Library for the first time, and our roommie died. Thinking that Dave was also going to die and they would have to start the level again, our roommie got up and went to do his business in the little gamer's room. He comes back into the living room to see a very stunned Dave, breathing dramatically. Our roommie picked up the controller and said, "Ok, let's do this again." Dave was like, "Do what again?"

He had fought the Flood off with only an empty rocket launcher and won! Needless to say, he went down in gaming history among our peers that night. God, we're such geeks. And I love it.

Oh, ps: I found the site with a few of the outtakes. Check them out. Some of them are pretty funny.

      Its a freaking AMAZING game.
Without HALO, the XBOX wouldn't have done so good in the market...

Naw, the X-Box would of always done well. Bill Gates would of had enough money to pretty much advertise it on every channel 24/7 and put brain implants in everybody in the USA, so they'd buy it.

Pistol and sniper rifle. All the way!

Or the plasma pistol (I think, it's the blue one, I always get mixed up between the plasma pistol and rifle) and the rocket launcher.

In Halo 2, I hear rumor that you can now get the Hunters' plasma cannons as well as hijack their vehicles and ships.

Yeah the hunters are easy once you figure them out, that weak spot in their back is the way to go, but you have to sneak up on them or have a friend keep them busy with an assault rifle up in their grill =) I also found blasting them in the head with the pistol is decent too..

Hmm my favs? that would definatly be the sniper rifle, I like the shotgun too. depends on what I am fighting really, sure you can run up to the elites and blast them with the shotgun but the needler works wonders on them =)

Hehe me and my roomie have totaly differnt gaming styles he runs up with the assault rifle blasting crap short range while I am just picking everyuthing off with the rifles =)
I like the silent cartographer and assault on the controll room as well =)

I remember the fist time I played... lol I wasblasted outa my skull I got so sucked into the game heeh! I was all nervous and shit when you crash on halo it was fun

I hate the assault rifle, it doesn't work for my style.

O, and my favorite moment while playing HALO the first time was when you meet the infection flood in 343. I was eaten alive the first time.
