I am looking to make a cd full of trippy music. Anyone got any suggestions?
My idea of trippy music is always psychadelic music....
Just buy a David Bowie CD. That's all you need.
i recommend Royksopp, and Ulrich Schnauss...and any downbeat kind of thing...some of portishead is good...
Yeah, David Bowie is tripped out, alright.....How I love David Bowie...Quote:

The Flaming Lips are moderately trippy. Check out Whirlwind Heat too. "Pink" is my favorite song by them.
I could write a huge 'definative' list of excellent 'trippy' (Psychedelic) music that is required listening:-
I agree with Irishcream Royksopp and Portishead is a great place to start (very interesting music).
1) Lemon Jelly* - their album cover is used as my aviator. :D
2) Aqualung "Strange and Beautiful (i'll put a spell on you)"
3) Cosmic Rough Riders (all their music is 'trippy').
If you want 'intensive' trippy music that will 'blow you mind' I suggest music written and performed under the influence of LSD during the 60s, check out:-
My White Bicycle / Tomorrow
Octopus / Syd Barrett
I Can Hear The Grass Grow / The Move
Rainbow Chaser / Nirvana
Once Upon The Seas Of Abyssinia / T.Rex
Time Seller / The Spencer Davis Group
Clarence In Wonderland / Kevin Ayers
My Friend Jack / The Smoke
King Midas In Reverse / The Hollies
The Thoughts Of Emerlist Davjack / The Nice

Granny Takes A Trip / The Purple Gang
Madman Running Through The Fields / Dantalian's Chariot
Ice In The Sun / Status Quo
Never Never Land / The Pink Fairies

Trippy music??
There are three volumes of CDs called "Mushroom Jazz"
Should do the trick.
These are like, songs and bands I've never heard of. Are they underground or old or something?
Not sure what you mean by trippy....I always like trance mixes to drift into...
try rustling up some synthetic dream foundation and some mystical sun.
both used to be available on mp3.com before it got killed. i think they are available on soundclick now.
Oh my god, I didn't think no one else had ever heard of the Moody Blues. Glad I was wrong.
Umm, I can't think of any others other than what have already been said...
Except, Ween! "Buckingham Green", "Mr would you please help my pony", "Push th' little daisies", "I cant put my finger on it", "The Hiv song", "Ocean Man", "Zoloft", "Happy coloured marbles".
Frank Zappa is great too. But definitely, check out the Doors, The Moody Blues, King Crimson, stuff like that...
And oh yeah! Pink Floyd! Especially "The Piper at the gates of Dawn" album.
And umm, The Beatles' "Magical mystery tour"?
It really depends on what you mean by "tripy", but as far as stuff not mentioned yet goes, I recommend some Mirwais, Steroid Maximus, and maybe some Tortoise.
Oh, and some Future Sound of London.
Pink Floyd - Great Gig in the Sky
I knows it not really "trippy", however it is still powerful to enough give u a trip ;)

/sorry for my poor english/
Boards of canada is some great trippy music, they are a reculsive brother duo who live in scotland and who are signed to warp records, their music is kind of pyschdliec ambient weird music.
Music has the right to children is probably their best album in my opinion, though their newer relaease geogaddi is also rather excellent.
