Thread: DreamViews is Shutting Down For Good

Aw, man. I just about had a heart attack when I read the title.
(I guess that's an answer to number five).

1. I'd be very sad, and confused as to why the site had suddenly shut down - surely whatever the problem may have been, it could have been resolved?
2. I would always be thinking about how Dreamviews closed down. Probably five or six months to stop wondering, a month or so to stop checking the site.
3. As for replacement sites, I wouldn't know where to start looking. DV is a really special sort of community.
4. I'd miss the people, the resources, and the help I could get if I was having trouble with something or had questions.
5. ...Yeah. I was too focused on the title to see the "Lounge" forum it was posted in, so... xD

4) First and foremost I would miss the cool people. Over the years I've come to know a few of them quite well, and it'd be sad to lose touch with them. But I would also miss the intelligence sometimes displayed in ED, those posts that just amaze you. And I'd miss the opportunity to sometimes be an ass and not be called out on it.
5) Only slowed a beat by a fraction of a second. But then I figured that it was unlikely, and that The Lounge wouldn't be the place for the announcement.

1. Confused and upset. This is the one place online I sort of have a place and people that I'm familiar with (although sometimes I wonder how many of those people even remember my screen name).

2. Maybe a few days before I stopped getting urges to check it, and a few weeks before I stopped missing it.

3. I doubt I'd look for another type of website. I'd look around at other lucid dreaming sites though. I'd think that maybe all of the members who frequented DV might decide to group up at another lucid dreaming website, and I'd join that one.

4. I'd miss the variety of people, the open-mindedness of the people. Lucid dreaming seems to attract people who are interesting, strange in some way, in good ways. It makes reading posts entertaining.

5. No because I didn't believe it. I thought it was a joke from the moment I saw it. If the site was really closing down, there would be more of an announcement than a little thread in the lounge.

VERY mean I just woke up and when I saw the title AND Jeff's name, seriously had a mini anxiety attack (my adrenaline surges- which I HAVEN'T had for a long time thank you very much lol)

1. I'd feel gutted, shut off from interaction with cool people, and even more set back in my pursuit of lucid dreaming (especially connecting with other oneironauts)

Possibly very annoyed, and a bit upset.
If given the time to grow fond of this site first, it'd possibly strike rightous anger in my heart and I'd be decently sad.

Likely around a month or so, except I'd find a decent replacement. (Answer continued below...)

Likely not, I searched for a dreaming forum on purpose and didn't end here for no reason, this is the most professional place I found.
And the only thing I really don't like about DV is that you can only edit your posts for 1 day, to someone like me who is used to put a lot of effort into threads and who polishes them up if something new arises this is far more than just slightly annoying. Especially when the contact formula results in nothing when used to ask for permission on editing.
If either this annoyance would vanish (at least in the research section, for obvious reasons) or I would grow fond of this forum it'd probably take me about two months to get over it.

The research section, even if the number of active participants is not as big as it should be I definitely don't know any better place for this matter so far.
Since I'm rather new that's still about it though, I guess some new things will arise someday.

I've already had some thread titles like this on other forums, ones that I already grew fond of, and titles that were not a joke. So, no, the thread title made me look into it but nothing more serious.

Oddly that's exactly what went through my mind too. I said aloud "this isn't April Fool's day..." and clicked, knowing it was a joke anyway.

Very sad! I know it isn't true, but I would probably feel as though I'd lost my chance to LD.

Probably a couple weeks. I'm relatively new, so it is not an essential part of my life yet.

Erm, maybe I'd spend more time on tumblr/facebook? Or just hang out with my boyfriend more. Or spend more time running. Hmmm... come to think of it maybe this wouldn't be so bad...

Epic sad, this is a fun place to chat and learn since I don't know anyone outside of this that is interested in lucid dreaming, plus tinychat face staring...

I'd probably be disappointed for a month or so and then randomly think of it years from now and freshen the feelings.

When I first found out about LDing 6 years ago, that was the forum I found first and planned to join. But for some reason I thought I had to already be a lucid dreamer to join, then when I succeeded in LDing I forgot to join it. This site must not have been very popular back then.

I would be pretty upset, maybe even mad. I would offer to make a donation. If you knew my reaction when I found this community of lucid dreamers, I mean we would be taking that away from a lot of new people who want to see if lucid dreaming is possible.
