I was going to cover up the threaded rods with some black tubing, but the paint I bought doesn't work with the tubing I have--it won't dry. Plus, even if it would work, getting the exact measurements, cutting the tubing, taking it all apart, then assembling and leveling it all again would be a pain in the ass. I think I'll leave it as is.

The cool thing about an eclipse is, you can see it by looking down at the ground. Notice how every hole in the shadows becomes an image of the partially eclipsed sun, like a crescent moon shape. Only it's actually a crescent sun.
Oh, that's the shadow of a stepladder that's standing beside my porch, in case you were wondering. Lol, just noticed it looks like it's winking! :cheeky:

It works on the same principle as a pinhole camera - small holes let light through and form an image of whatever is casting the light. I was going to try to find a piece of cardboard and make a round hole in it but ran out of time - fortunately it works with dappled lighting under trees just as well, and makes for some really nice effects.

Coffee and Firewood 01 by Darkmatters, on Flickr
I jimmied my coffee maker so it doesn't give me the nasty plastic toxins - you know, the esters that cause men to develop breasts and all that really nasty stuff. I boil water on the stove and pour it through - it goes straight from stainless steel funnel into the coffee cup. Lol the Mister Coffee is only used as a base to hold the other parts where they need to be.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4564/...9f4209b4_z.jpg
Coffee and Firewood 03 by Darkmatters, on Flickr
I had a massive tree fall in my back yard a couple of years ago. Took me a long time to figure out what to do about it, but eventually I got myself an electric chainsaw and cut it up and started splitting it into firewood. Still working on that and will be for the rest of the winter probably, since this wood doesn't like to burn unless it's split into what I call matchsticks. Here's one of my big stacks of firewood, in the garage so it doesn't get rained on. You can also see a bunch of matchsticks piled on the shelves in the background.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4584/...7337773b_z.jpg
Coffee and Firewood 02 by Darkmatters, on Flickr
These are the leaf bins I built in the shed recently. Lol the front of it is an old door! These leaves are great for starting fires! Nature provides - we just have to do a lot of work to process things down into useable form.
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4540/...387c50f3_z.jpg
Coffee and Firewood 04 by Darkmatters, on Flickr
Also in the garage - small bins for sticks, scrap wood and leaves. Now on those really cold nights I don't even need to go out to the shed, just into the attached garage for fire supplies. Sweet!!
https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4551/...ff71c2a7_z.jpg
Coffee and Firewood 05 by Darkmatters, on Flickr
And finally the last stop - the fireplace. The little white canister is my favorite part - step on the pedal and the top flips open, revealing a plastic bucket full of leaves that can be lifted out and dumped in the fireplace. Behind it is a basket filled with matchsticks. I'm planning to take off the brass front with the glass doors - I think it's ugly and when the doors are closed they block too much heat. I'll replace it with a tri-fold metal screen. All set for a cozy night in front of the fire watching movies!! Or drinking coffee in the morning..
Hmm - can't seem to find "post pictures of your food here", and it looks like people are just doing that in this thread anyway --- Soooooo...

Yep.
Could you tell me more about it? What was the subject of the retreat? How long was it? What did you learn and did you take anything away from the experience?
I've attended a 10-day Vipassana meditation retreat but I left on day 3. I have signed up for another one in a few months and really want to stay the whole time!!!
My first retreat was one of the hardest things I have ever gone through but it was so worth it and I learned a lot about myself!
I learned how to kindle my spirit of peace within, and to become an instrument of this peace. I was there for about a month. Yeah, at times, it was a little tough but, I got through it. It was personal. The practices there was universal and simple. Their simplicity creates the consciousness for connection and full awareness of each moment. Through contemplative practices such as meditation, prayer, and self-reflection, the heart, body, mind, and spirit are nourished. Despite the increasingly violent and unstable times in which we live, many of us know deep in our beings that another world is possible. Even though we may have a long way to go in our spiritual strivings, this endeavor to create a better world begins within each individual. It is all about persevering in the inner work of removing the obstacles within ourselves so that we can discover the Truth of who we are: the resonance of Divine Love and Light.
Good luck with your endeavor.
Spoiler for no discussions.:

The first time we had these ones, they had that strange taste, as you said. Then we tried boiling them first. Grey jasper, dyed pink agate, and very special shells from Cayo Costa. These baby ones are found on the inland trails. When they made the trails a long time ago, they used dredged material with lots of shells. The shells have long since bleached in the sun, and also have a unique grey color. This comes from the wildfires (and now, controlled burns) on the island. The shells have literally burned, and now are smoke colored. They're so cool!
