Today was the hottest day of the year so far. Got up to 95. We went down to lake St. Clair and then the St. Clair river for all the boat riding we could stand (~80 miles) in our 17' boston whaler.
Stopped at this deserted park on the water to let the dog swim.

You have a boat?
*jelly*
Oh and cool dog!
Carrot, I got my first job in game dev in a start-up company. Small, 10 person team. Maybe try to find someone in this part of the industry as a starting point since there seem to be a million of them once you find them, and they're all willing to hire people with minimal or no experience since they don't have the big bucks to pay senior staffers.
It was hot for us yesterday too, 91F or so. We decided it'd be the perfect day to take D'Brickashaw outside! It was a great idea, until D'Brickashaw freaked out. >_> He was running into the pen bars and peeping frantically. We realized his feet might not be comfortable in the sun, so we took him into the shade, and my sister sat with him. He seemed much happier with company.

My sister let us borrow her ferret pen. It was a great idea.

My turn to sit with D'Brickashaw. I was pretty terrible at holding him. He's very energetic, so he'd scamper off my lap, which mean he fell off my lap and onto his face/neck. After a few falls, my hands hovered around him so I could scoop him up and place him gently on the ground.
My mother's blog for more photos!
His monkey accompanies him everywhere! Hahaha!
D'Brickashaw is growing into a fine duck!
I accidentally knocked over the monkey yesterday. D'Brickashaw darted over to the monkey and guarded it protectively. It wasn't very happy with me. =p
I hope no one minds me spamming this thread with duck pictures. I'm proud of lil D'Brickashaw. He's a lot of fun too. :)
I think we're all falling in love with Brickashaw. I've been talking about it at work even! The most common questions are, how/where did you get the egg? And did you make the incubator, or is there a duck egg incubator shop :P
I love the picture of the soft little baby duck in the strong man hands. <3
edit: hey how come you call him D'Brickashaw, but your mom calls him Alfalfa? Sounds like duck mischief to me :wtf:
I know where to get ducks, chickens, goats, rabbits, and pigs here in Austin (Callahan's General Store) but wouldn't know where to go in the Dallas area.
Try livestock/farm animals for sale.
I want to go duck shopping. :panic:
I call the duck D'Brickashaw because I think it's a fun name to say; it's also a ridiculous name. The rest of my family doesn't like the name I chose. My mother calls the duck Alfalfa, my sister calls it Baby. If our next egg hatches, I'm going to call the new duckling Methuselah.
I think I mentioned it before, but we found the eggs on our patio. We live near a pond, and we have a lot of ducks and geese near our house. Pekin ducks have been domesticated for thousands of years, so apparently they forgot how to raise eggs. The majority of the species will just abandon their eggs in the open. So we saw the first egg abandoned, and subsequently crushed by another animal. My dad told us to pick up an incubator so we could raise the future eggs/ducklings. My mom picked an incubator up from a feed mill.
The second egg should hatch between tomorrow and Sunday. I'm crossing my strong man fingers!
hah! love it
I'm sure you mentioned it before, I just missed it. I had no idea so many get abandoned like that. So sweet of you guys to rescue them.Quote:

Spoiler for More pics from my bike ride on May 19th:
Spoiler for Some pics of today's stormy drive home:
Oak trees don't grow fruit. That's not an oak.
They do grow acorns. Not quite the same but yummy if you know how to work with them.
That second picture in the storm series looks like a scene from the movie Twister.
Jim, it's an "oak apple gall". Technically not a fruit, it's wasp mischief.
And that one picture so incredibly looks like the nothing haha!
That was crazy. I wish I was rolling video because the storm clouds were pouring over the mountains with some crazy looking lightning flashing all around. *re-installs the dashboard camera mount.
At first, I figured it was some kind of disease or something. Interesting bit on the wasp - *hits Google. :)
Dinner today with some old friends and we couldn't stop laughing because of two ridiculously "high" friends

Spotted a Pikachu statue today and my friends immediately related it to me, See I'm connected to Pikachu in real life too, not just on DV :D

After searching for a long time, I've decided to settle for this as my physical dream journal so I can write them down even if I'm away from the computer. I like it that it's hard cover so it wouldn't get imprints from random things in my bag.

I have a computational notebook that looks exactly like that next to my computer.
Oh, we are posting dream journals now? I'm on it!

Yes, my pen lights up when I push it! :cheeky:

My DJ is new with no scribbles. I just wanted to show off my loot for the day. :P
There was a thread for physical dream journals but it died...
