      NZ Oil Spill

How the FUCK can they still be allowing this to happen?

Australia raised concerns with NZ oil slick ship - ABC Sydney - Australian Broadcasting Corporation

The boat was basically falling apart already and they're shipping tens of thousands of tonnes of oil on it.

Maybe it's the inner conspiracy theorist in me, but I just find it intriguing that crap like this always happens when the prices of oil start falling.

Dare we quote Mr. Smith's little speech from the Matrix?

      That can be arranged:

You move to an area, and you multiply, and you multiply, until every natural resource is consumed. The only way you can survive is to spread to another area. There is another organism on this planet that follows the same pattern. Do you know what it is? A virus. Human beings are a disease, a cancer of this planet. You are a plague, and we … are the cure.

Nope. All organisms expand their population until resources / space / time stop them. Humans are no different at all. : /

I think he does, and he understands why The Matrix is shitty pop culture which sounds pretty dumb to any biologist.

I think you mean she does. I was hoping someone would just say "The Matrix." so we could continue the dialog.

Yeah, it's not really accurate at all.

Nothing has an equilibrium with it's environment. It's just that usually, something will come along to destroy the organism after it's population grows too much. Like starvation or an actual virus, or in our case.... ourselves.
The difference is that we can predict our inevitable demise. And should be trying to prolong that time for as long as possible.
And we mostly have empathy for the other species and obviously NEED the actual environment to live!

I think this doesn't make sense. They are the ones who set the price of oil. If they want to, the just put the price up.

Well I don't know about Canada, but in Australia it gets raised or lowered every day.
For instance on Thursday it goes up and reaches a high on Sunday, then goes lower again toward Wednesday. The only reason for this is that more people buy it on the Friday and Sunday coz they go away, or to fill it up before the new week.

Although they have changed this now and they switch it around, one week it might be higher on Wednesday, then two weeks later it will be lower on Wednesday. I think they realised that people like me just time it so they can fill up on the cheapest day lol

But the point is there's no reason for that except them getting more profits when more people will be buying it.
And I haven't seen any outcries yet....
