Thread: DIY or barber?

DIY all the way...either I keep it all around low, or I keep it damn near bald. Every now and then I'll get a hair cut just to switch it up a bit, but in general I'm saving dat money.

i use a barber, and i go about 5-15 times a year. I dont know the average times i go, i dont count.

Yep. Even tho it isn't noticable visually it is very noticable feeling wise.

I haven't been to a professional for years.

My hair grows extremely fast. I had it cut in early September and it all grew back one month later.
I trim my own hair when its getting annoying or if i notice little things, but in general i have to go to the barber because i can't cut it properly (not the right supplies) in the back and what not since my hair isn't exactly short

I let my sister cut my hair once in the summer, and I go to a hairdresser once in the winter. In-between I just let it grow. Doesn't matter much, as I've got long hair.

I've been searching the net since you posted that, to try and find a picture of someone with the same hairstyle as me. But I came up empty >.<

Shave it down to a 0, myself, about once every 2-3 weeks. Can't remember the last time I went to a barber.

@OP: Yes.

Barber, but I go from short to.. erm.... longer? My hair grows pretty fast but even then it takes about 3 months.

I think the last time was on my birthday in 2009[cut&dye], and even that was a rarity. For some reason I thought copper-coloured hair was worth shelling out money for.

My junior year of highschool I started cutting it myself because it's just fun [and thrifty], with inspiration from V.

But I remember having straight bangs when I was six or seven, and I'd always try to cut them myself. I would always end up with bangs that start low on one end and gradually get shorter towards the other. xD

I've never done it myself, but over the last few years I've only went to a hair salon two or three times a year. I really enjoy having long hair, and I hate having very short hair. Long hair is so much fun.

V = Vicente, my first love & a major inspiration for most of my young-adult life.

He had cut his own [great] hair for as long as i've known him, and inspired me to give it a try myself. Afterall, it's just hair right? It's grows back... at the time that was a creative revelation for me. p.s. he is now [finally] pursuing that interest.

I usually leave my hair alone. When I get in one of my moods though (once every couple of years or so), I'll cut my hair myself to get it done and THEN I go to the barber to have them fix it
Then, of course, there was last year (?) when I gave myself a close buzz cut Shorter than Darkmatters V for Vendetta. Now my hair has grown out to just above my shoulders.

Same here....i used to let my crap fro out in the winter, but I stopped doing that.

Reminds me of a really weird totally ghetto dude I used to work with who came in one day and said he was gonna get his hair cut short. He had a fro at the time. I asked him how short and he said "All the way down to the MEAT!"

The way he said it was hilarious - he put so much emphasis on the word meat he had everybody rolling, and we made him repeat it like 6 times, then we were walking around saying it too. We were still saying it like a week later.

Good times...

Well I'm glad someone knew that. I thought it was just a lame joke lol

I've been cutting my own hair for a few years now. Can judge by my pic in the pictures thread, since that was just after I cut it last time.
I used to go all out and trim the sides shorter etc. but now I just shave it the same all over. Seems to look okay.
And if it doesn't.... it'll grow back.

Barber. I usually get it so it's a little longer than clippers allow, and let it grow for a couple months until it's pretty shaggy and starts to "curl" at the ends when it dries. About 4 times a year. I like being able to "change things up". When it's shorter I can do stuff with it, and when it's longer I can be very lazy and just let it "go".
