      Am I high?

I just sat in my sister's room for like 20 minutes, she told me she had incense burning but then when my parents left she said she was smoking pot with her boy friend. M feet feel really tingly but I'm really relaxed and I feel super happy.
"For a long time it gave me nightmares, having to witness an injustice like that. It was a constant reminder of how unfair this world can be, I can still hear them taunting him. 'Silly Rabbit, Trix are for kids!'... How come they just couldn't give him some cereal?"

It's placebo, like has been said. I'd bet money that if you actually went and got high, it wouldn't feel like this made you feel.

When I was 12 or so my friend and I bought some pot from some guys at school, who smoked it with us. I was running around and thought that I was high. Apparently I didn't even know what high was supposed to feel like, so I was acting more like I was drunk. Then later I found out it had been fake.

You cant get a placebo if you're not even sure what the experience is supposed to be like. -_-

Contact Highs are, as someone mentioned earlier, for realz. Furthermore you guys are overestimating placebos.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I highly doubt that there are many people these days who DON'T know what a high is "supposed to" be like. There's nothing ridiculous about saying that if you think you're going to get high then you will feel relaxed, happy, and tingly. Those are all very, very much within the realm of placebo. It's not like he actually got high from it, which is why I said if he were to try weed for real it'd be totally different. No one is going to get high from sitting in a room for a while after someone smoked before they got there.

It's not high. It's contact high.

People get the same feeling described by the OP all the time by being exposed to hotboxed places without smoking any bud. And they don't need to be told the room was smoked out. It just happens.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I don't know if I fully buy that... but I'm not going to argue it. The topic's not really that important to me to have this debate again. I do still think there was some placebo involved, too. In my experience people who haven't tried weed often like to be able to think that they cheated their way to getting high for some reason. It might just be the people I know, though.

What? Yes you can. It just probably won't be the same as a real high.

Contact highs are a myth. The only possible thing is that you tend to act like the people around you are acting. And this can lead to you feeling similarly as well, due to mirror neurons.

It's very unlikely that OP would get contact high in that situation. 20 minutes after they've burned, and in a (probably) fair sized bedroom? It just isn't very likely.

I concur, an average room isn't really a hotbox, assuming they don't live in a shed; the air flow is probably more than adequate.

A Contact High is not a myth. It's not the same as actually being high, of course. It's like your body's reaction to a noticeable amount of THC. You can get a contact high while completely alone. It could be conditioning but I also see people who never, ever smoke get contact highs.

Didn't remember him mentioning 20 minutes later before he felt anything. You can definitely get a bedroom smokey enough to provide contact highs though. But yeah in my experience they're instant reactions that only last a minute.

She actually put it out when we got home I walked in like 5 minutes later and stayed for 20, doesn't matter though, it's just really obnoxious when she does, it smells like skunk.

I'd imagine he could have gotten a tiny bit high, if the room wasn't aired out. If there was a window open or something of the sort, then I'd say probably not.

Frist thing, relax, if you got high (and I imagine your sister will do it again) marijuana won't hurt you, no one has ever had a bad reaction to it. Second, if you got a contact high, it's barely anything compared to a real high, you feel a little silly, but it goes away in an hour. If it happens again, relax, take a deep breath, and enjoy the rush.
