I'd done this for a month earlier this year. I felt incredibly intense and needed to frequent the gym....a lot. Going to bars was torture - never again.

I survived 27 days. Any more and I think I would've exploded. Mentally. It becomes incredibly difficult to think or concentrate on what you wish: I could only think of one thing. I'm trying to think of the benefits of my experiment....um, unnecessary evidence that my sex drive is fully functional.

Though I have to admit, the day I finished the experiment was a huge relief.

There's another benefit.

Sex is the drug addiction we're all born with. It's easy to say everyone who abstains is terribly repressed and suffering consequences from it. But the fact is, we don't know if that's true. Normally I would never advocate abstinence, especially not to everyone. It's a road meant for a rare soul who wants to understand what it feels like to get over a heroin addiction without ever getting under one. No one should ever choose abstinence to make God or anyone else but themselves happy. It's all about the individual and what they choose for themselves.

And who can really say they wouldn't want a little more willpower in their lives? When I quit smoking cigarettes I can honestly say I was a weaker person than I am now. Going through that trial forced me to rise to the occasion. Not everyone that rides a horse is a jockey, Great Men rise to Greater Challenges.

Except that you can quit taking drugs, whilst this sexual abstinence is seemingly temporary at best. Enduring a fight you will lose.

Of course there are some individuals somewhere who probably manage to permanently abstain without castration.

Still, good luck weakamon - if you can get past 27 days and remain sane, then I applaud you.

I think the longest I've gone is a couple weeks--maybe three--without especially trying, just keeping busy and being around people a lot.
