SOPA shelved in face of White House oposition
Political Animal - Putting SOPA on a shelf
Apparently, on Saturday the Obama administration announced its opposition to central portions of both PIPA and SOPA. Hours later, congress decided to put off the vote on SOPA indefinitely.
According to Steve Benen of Washington Monthly, "the White House’s opposition signaled the end of these bills, at least in their current form."
"It’s possible that a related version of SOPA could come back at some point down the road — though probably not this year — but for now, the push against the bill has succeeded beautifully."
