What is Your Dream in Life?

what is your dream in life

I don't care how big, how extreme or how nonsensical it may seem. I feel like most people have some particular thing (or things) that they would like to do or accomplish in their life.

Let's shake the social constraints of "being realistic by limiting ourselves" off and share our own dreams!

My dream is to become the best entrepreneur in the world. I love the idea of shaking things up out there by introducing new concepts or ideas that challenge current conventions. I also want to travel the world. Ideally, not by plane, but by whatever means of transport that will efficiently get me to where I wanna go, while at the same time giving me the opportunity to learn about different cultures and societies. So probably mostly on foot xD. By doing this, I hope to find the ultimate project I want to create or help work on!

What is your dream in life?

To be comfortable and happy. That's it :P

Because some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.

I want knowledge, and lots of it.

I want to be able to accept the fact that, even if I haven't been blessed with a talent that will make me rich, or have social expectations that are far beyond my years, I can still be happy.

I like your attitude. My dream is to simply experience the beauty and wonder of life the best I possiblity can. I intend to do this primarily by educating myself enough to understand the cutting edge theories and discoveries of the scientific method and hiking.

Walk/bike across a continent.
Donate over 10 gallons of blood.
Get a job as an animal trainer, or tropical fish breeder.

Here's my life plan, I'm 15 and I don't really know what I want to do. I want to finish high school and go on to college for something scientific. I often find myself worrying about how my life is going to start getting really hard towards the end of high school and into college (it's easy now). So I want to get some sort of science career. I just want to make enough money to live an average worry free life (I wouldn't complain if I was more than financially average). And I want to be in a relationship, not really sure about kids (I don't need to know now of course). I don't have any extravagant life goals (I'll probably get those when I'm older). But for now, I'm not worrying about any of it, just enjoying living my simple, relatively uncomplicated life.

Major props to you. You seem to be able to appreciate life for what it is and you seem to know what you want to study. A few years back, I had absolutely NO CLUE. Hahaha, keep pushing forward and good luck with your upcoming college adventures!

To live in a place far away with new people and new experiences. With my s/o of course. I am just so sick and tired of the same thing every day. I feel like if I don't get out now I never will.

I guess I want to be a great inventor. I want to be able to cause a small technological revolution, and to make "enough" money off that. And I want to be able to point to something and say "I made that" :P

The only reason I do actually want a shitload of money is because I could then affect change. I would definitely not keep most of it. I would not donate it to charities,
but instead do something more like Bill Gates does, and spend it directly, helping others, building schools, getting good teachers to go to poorer regions etc.
I would also stop oil companies and manufacturers from raping poorer countries. And if the people wanted to keep living tribal lives, I would help get them
educated on how to do that (coz it can be lost over generations, as it has in some places), along with their normal education.

I figure I would need about $100billion to change the world to how I would want it, Apple's profits from last year alone.

I don't like that charities are just trying to convert everyone to Western ways of living, we need contrast and differentiation.

TL;DR - I would keep the good parts of the 3rd world's traditional living practices, while providing them with education and health care which are positives from
1st world cultures.

I've actually just started writing code in the past few days that will make me a billionaire a few thousand times over. I guess that's a trillionaire. Doubt I'll be able to be the first one but it will still be cool.

Then, I'll rule the world. Or get my ass assassinated.

Do you write code or do anything useful to a start up?

I do not. Useful to a startup? I guess graphic design and illustration are useful, but obviously only via lending my skills to another person creating a company.

I tried programming a few times, I could never get past the math. I could if I tried, but I don't think I have enough interest to keep me going.

I do have a quite good idea that I've been thinking about, nothing close to millions of dollars, or even hundreds of thousands, but I think it could make me quite a bit.

I may need to burst your bubble here, although I'm sure it's not absolute, so take it with a grain of salt.
My dad is a doctor, when he was doing his internship at a hospital, basically he said that you have to end up
specialising, which is why he became a GP, he didn't want to be cutting out gall bladders all day.
There are only general surgeons for a couple of years, until they're made to specialise.

Of course, if this is the case everywhere, you could still specialise in something cool, like heart surgery or brain surgery.

Maybe take this more as a cautionary tale, rather than something which will definitely happen, and then maybe you can
avoid it or take advantage of it.

Admirable goal though, so well done! :D

I'd want to be high school psychology teacher with a wife and a daughter, and preferably enough money to live comfortably (65k or more a year). And that urban pop music that passes for "hip hop" these days would no longer be played on the airwaves, rap/hip hop would go back to what it was like in the 90's.

I sort of understand. I don't like feeling "trapped" in my own environment. I feel like I crave freedom, and any sort of constraints to that freedom are usually a challenge to me - only if I find those constraints irrational and not self-imposed hahahaha...nothing like hurting others! :paranoid:

Interesting, hahaha, I see money in a similar way. I care about it when it comes to living sustainably and comfortably. But I am much more interested in the amount that can be done to cause change with enough of it.

Aside from that, the way I wanna do it is to travel and have people join as I go along. So I'd definitely be up for making new friends to travel with.

My issue right now is taking responsibility for my student loans and any other things that keep me constrained from travelling freely and getting these things out of the way as soon as possible. In the immediate future, I'm gonna get a job after I graduate to pay them off. But I also wanna start on one or two of my business ideas to try and fuel everything. The faster I can get to travelling, the better. :D

I've often summed up my dream as "chickens, goats and a bamboo tree house." That's only half the story though. I'm still gonna have that, I'm just not gonna tell anybody about it :) I'll have some smoking high-tech, green, mansion to show off so everybody thinks I live there. Then I'll just dip out to my tree house. Probably put it up somewhere near Kipahulu.

I want one of those hobbit homes personally. Maybe several, linked underground. Although a bamboo tree house does sound nice.

Hobbit homes are the way to go in temperate environments. I'm strongly subtropical so we want elevation.

I want to play Rachmaninov 2nd piano concerto with awesome orchestra in Carnegie Hall.

Also, I want to live in Japan and have money to buy all the things I may need, so more than usual, but not super rich.

Aside from living in Japan, I want to go to China during Chinese New Year and all other metropolas (like Paris, London, San Francisco and so on) I also want to speak 9 languages. Slovak (native), English (need to add some vocab), German (still long way to go), French (still long way to go), Spanish, Portugese, Japanese (still long way to go), Chinese (preferably Mandarin dialect, although no problem with Cantonese, too) and Russian. That's about it.

EDIT: Oh, I also want to play violin averagely, so I could possibly play in orchestra.

To live in a minimalist house of my own design in BC, or some place in Europe (budget permitting), have a garden and use solar energy, be with my girl in mind, and work as a designer and photographer, and ideally one day as an architect.

I really don't have any dreams. I guess you could say my dream is to actually be what I'd consider to be truly happy, rather than simply content or being indifferent. That, and if it isn't necessarily implied, to never get bored, or at least not often). Constant boredom doesn't seem possible if you're happy though, feeling bored on a consistent basis is something that makes one pretty unhappy, so I suppose it is implied with being happy. Otherwise, being famous or a celebrity in any way alienates you from the rest of humanity, you never really know if somebody really likes or loves you, the same can said if you're insanely rich or the most attractive person alive. Ruling over people would be such a hassle, and I simply don't derive any pleasure from controlling groups of people, so no aspirations of anything like being a king, emperor, president, prime minister, or anything to that effect. Basically, being to much of anything or having too much of anything has more downsides than upsides in my opinion, except when it comes to being happy. If there were dragon balls or something that grants wishes, for instance, I would most definitely wish to be a happy person for the rest of my life.

To be comfortably happy. Without any worries. To be healthy.

That's the problem for me: I don't really know.

I mean I have the usual dreams the same as everyone elses ( like health and happiness ), but besides that I don't really know. Maybe becoming a professional at something... like at lucid dreaming probably. Traveling sounds appealing too, and a few other things.

1: Fall in love

2: Make an amazing album in my home studio.

3: win the lottery

4: Become a master at lucid dreaming, shared dreaming, all dat supernatural shit.

5: Keep my good health.

6: Build a modular synthesizer.

I really want to retire in comfort. I think that it would be awesome to live in a place called Captain Cook Hawaii. The coldest it gets is about 66F and the hottest it gets is about 89F. There is a government protected reef there. I have been able to swim with dolphins in the wild there three times. I hear in the winter there is great whale watching. Tropical fruit grow every where all year long. The humidity is only about 65%. that is kind of humid but not really that bad.

With no real expectations about it, my waking life dream is to learn from lucid dreaming how the absence of pain in my lucid dreams works, so that I can carry that over to my daily waking life.

I have 2 dreams. Very simple.

1. I want to write music, play and sing. I want the time to go be by myself, with my ukulele, surrounded by wilderness, without kids, without any deadlines or distractions... No pressure. I really feel like I have knack for this, and I want to use it in my life while I can. I don't want to waste my gifts. Being stressed at work makes it hard for me to want to be creative.

2. If I'm being 100% honest :oops:, I would like to find a partner in life. I want a relationship that is in that 10% group, at least, according to some books I've read. The kind that are actually connected, and actually stay connected. No pretense and going through the motions, I already did that for over a decade. For the longest time I didn't think this was possible, but I've read too many examples that it is. And if it is possible, then I'm going to do it.

I wish you the best luck with this dream. I think the best way to find that is to only date people you would be friends with if it was only going to be friends. Often we seek that rush that we think of as "in love" but that comes much more from mating instinct than from deep compatibility. That does not mean you should not look for both, but the person must be someone you would respect and like as a friend.

Assuming it's possible, I would definitely share it. I have known a fair few people who have similar living situations to mine and I know that if something like that could be taught, it would make a huge difference in their lives. When you're constantly hurting it's difficult to not be bitter about everything and the prospect of helping others through their own pain and difficulties can feel relieving in some sense for me, I think.

Not knowing anything about supposed statistics on this, I do hope you will find your partner in life MoonageDaydream, I feel I have found mine, though it has felt accidental I sometimes think; what I learned from it was also that like sivason says, there has to be some deep compatibility... And besides that, we had to be willing to learn from each other and part of that was taking the positive attributes of the other one and trying to integrate those into ourselves.

What I also ended up learning about even only recently, and I think this is related to what sivason is saying; that who and why you feel attracted to someone isn't necessarily going to match on all levels; physical, romantic and mental levels. I realise now that over the years I had many "crushes" over some people, but I see now that most of it was about physical attraction. Many times, they were people who I would have been incompatible with at an emotional level and we would likely have disagreed on too many things at a core level for us to be able to properly get along.

Mostly speaking from my own experience and a bit from what I know of. Stress does impact on creativity. It can have beneficial effects too such as driving you more toward making something, but if things are particularly overwhelming it can feel somewhat paralysing, like nothing can come out at all.

Sometimes I really can't get anything out of a creative session, but other times I may realise that it's the actual expectation of wanting to do something that is keeping me from actually getting started, too. In a way, wanting to do something so much can have just the same effect as other stressors, since it creates temporary issues with confidence and self-expectation.

That's probably why I've found it helpful over the years to (at an unusual time) just pick something up and not try too hard and just do something, not caring too much; sometimes I get something out of it, sometimes I don't; many times I get ideas, at least, if nothing else.

I almost got away with typing only one paragraph... and then wrote much more. :facepalm:

Thank you both very much for your advice, and I agree 100%. I think my biggest hurdle is that I am very introverted. I don't get out a lot, and I don't have large group of friends. The people I do know, at work, or in my gaming group, they are all married. I need to get out more.

If the love of your life is introverted like yourself, do you think that person will be out there, where people go, when they do get out. Or might that person also not get out a lot ... Of course, if you are looking for an extroverted person, then the situtation is probably very different.

I'm drawing a blank. Perhaps keeping my family in good health. Or moving next to the beach. Though after Covid I'm content just getting out of my damn house. Being slightly more sociable again.

Ever since I was little,I've loved drawing. Overtime,I also learned to sculpt and write. But my dream is to become a famous artist,sell my art,get the needed money and live a rich life in my own decorated house,with my own decoration ,where nobody can tell me what to place and what not to place in my house.
