Every Day Philosophy: How to appreciate the little things...

Ok so I thought it would be cool to make a thread consisting of every day thing which are awesome but may be under appreciated. So here's mine: First thing I appreciate: VISION!!!! I enhance this appreciation by walking with my eyes closed. (Try it! See how far your other senses will take you before you open your eyes...count your steps..) Second: Ice cubes. I love cracking a totally full ice cube tray. Something very satisfying about that. Next time you crack a tray... Try this: Take an ice cube and place it in the palm of your hand. Focus on it as it melts and give it your attention until it disappears. =========== What about you? Is there any random thing you enjoy doing for the sake of remaining present, or having a unique moment? OR: is there any ordinary thing/simple pleasure that you truly enjoy? For example : That lovely feeling of washing your hands in warm/hot water with lots of bubbles. Or... breathing deeply on a foggy night.. =) Lets hear it!!

running. running in the hot afternoon while feeling the warmth of the sun and sweat pouring down your body. running while the sun is about to set and seeing how the sky changes colors. running at a clear night and feeling the breeze and gazing up at the sky filled with stars. i love to run

sleep... when I've had a busy streak and haven't gotten enough sleep, then I get a chance to make it up, I sleep so soundly and deeply. coffee... rich and black with nothing added being alone... so I can think and running. I'm with tropicalbreeze... my sanity has become exclusively invested in running trails.

Being able to get to sleep at night. That's the best thing.

Taking a walk at 11pm (especially on a cold winter day) and just enjoy the silence while looking up to the stars occasionally, god I love that view it's so full of mistery, magic and beauty. To just lay in bed and start fantasizing away. Both of these gives me a feeling that can only be described as 'divine'. I used to get that feeling A LOT as a child, I used to get it at every little thing. Something simple as certain colors could trigger it. It's a weird feeling and hard to describe. Like a mix of a lot of positive feelings giving an ultimate new one that exceeds all others.

Such a nice way to enjoy the world, exercise your body and get lost in thought. I appreciate the rain too. I love nothing more than walking outside on a rainy day and feeling the droplets gradually soak me. Everyone thinks I'm mad, but I thoroughly enjoy it.

I always get scolded for going under the rain. You're not alone. But I dislike my things getting wet, especially my bag.

I have a lot of small happy moments when I am working on the petting zoo. It is one day a week and I don't get paid but is the loveliest (work) day of the week. The animals, beeing outside, watching my petsheep go crazy and things some of the children do or say make me smile
