      Did Papa John's change their recipe?

      Or is it just our local branch? Papa John's used to have one of the best recipes around, but lately they have become just another cheap pizza. Not much sauce, and the crust is no longer light and fluffy but just mediocre. Did they change something, or is it just our local branch? Or is it just that I have been eating some really good local pizza lately and I am now spoiled?

      They're probably going the way of Pizza Hut...making fast crap. Oh how I wish I could jump in a time machine, and snatch a slice out of young me's hands.

      There's a good mom n pop pizza place in my town, too bad they don't deliver. I'm definitely eating there today though cause you made me hungry for pizza.

      Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

      See, part of my problem is that my town has a really good mom and pop pizza place. The stuff they make is so good that I don't enjoy other pizza as much any more. But it does seem like Papa John's has changed, because they used to at least be able to compete with this local place.

      Any change in staff? A lot of times that does it too.

      Yeah, this could definitely be the reason. I remember going to Boston Pizza all the time, but one time we went, the wait time was terrible and the pizza was gross. We told them and they said they were under new management, so things were still getting "sorted out". Went back a few months later, same thing, and after we tried for a third time... Never went there again.

      I think Papa Johns changed to crap when Domino's started saying "ya our pizza was crap! But now it's better!"

      I noticed a difference as well in the crust.

      Texture seems more like dominos. Like a hard bread not like the yellow light fluffy dough I remember.

      The Pizza Hut here is making some really delicious pastas though.

      Most of the chain pizza restaurants in America are garbage.

      Pizza Hut -- Terrible. The last time I ordered a pizza from them was in April for the NFL Draft. Easily the worst pizza I had ever had.

      Domino's -- Awful. Domino's pizza gets so many mixed reviews that they try and re-invent the wheel every few months with a different marketing scheme. Latest idea: Pan Pizza -- It still sucks.

      Papa John's -- Mediocre. They have interesting 'zzas, but I find their sauce and crust to be quite bland.

      I've never cared for Papa Murphy take and bakes. If there is a chain place I do enjoy, it is Godfathers. To be quite honest, if I don't make it myself or if it isn't an authentic ma and pa type place, I'm just not interested in pizza. Minneapolis and Chicago local scenes have some great stuff. I'm sure NYC does as well, but I've never been there.
