Thread: What's your Art?

Yay for biased poll (at the time of posting).

Music, primarily, such as writing music (though I'm very bad) and preforming on a trumpet. I love improvised jazz . Also poetry and lyrics. I find it's a good way to get what I'm thinking onto the paper and to just let it out without actually speaking anything. I also love snowboarding, but it's unfortunately summer

Sketches and Paintings - years of sketching. I don't really paint.
Music and Singing - Used to play piano, presently play guitar (about 5-6 years) and I can sing pretty well
Poetry and Lyrics - Lyricist and hobbyist rapper
Short Stories and Novels - a handful of short stories in school, years of text RP, and working on my first novel now.
Dancing, Gymnastics and Acrobatics - been dancing for a few years, mainly popping, gliding and waving. Learning some locking and tutting now.
Fighting and Martial Arts - two years of Kung Fu as a kid, a few weeks of Muay Thai training, and various self-teachings here and there.
3D Modeling and Graphic Design - an amateur in 3D (self-taught), a little schooling in (and freelance) graphic design.
Cooking - yeah, I'm not bad.

Music and Singing- I am almost always singing, humming or whistling something. I have a nice voice but horrible range.
Poetry and Lyrics- I used to write a lot. Not so much anymore
Short Stories and Novels- more like Novellas. I used to write all the time, but I've lost my creative spark for the most part.

Architecture and City-planning....... if you count games. I figure you don't so I didn't check it I spend way too much freagin time on Farmville, City of Wonder and other such games because I LOVE designing the areas. It annoys me when I see other gamers that clump everything together for max productivity. I try to optimize both looks and functionality. But aesthetics are more important to me

I've been making chillout electronic music for ~2 years (click "creative juices" in my sig for my page)
I'm currently studying music at uni
I'm involved in various bands, one of which will be touring Greece next year
Two days ago I bought some Pioneer 800s (DJ decks) which I've been playing with non-stop since
I calculated recently that I listen to music about 16-20 hours a day

martial arts
cooking
almost any workout that requires extreme edurance

For something to be your art do you have to be good at it?

Artist's corner is for sharing art, this is just a poll, and no- just because something is your art doesn't mean you're good at it.

I love origami, don't really see it as sculpting or ceramics (that's the closest I saw) I also do a lot of sketches. Love music, have no sense of rhythm though. :T

Yeah, that's what that portion of the forum is for. But Look at the other stickied post on that forum, they dont share art. I think this would fit very nicely over there. No, this shouldn't be posted over there. But yes, it could be stickied over there.

I sketch and paint all the time. Though I am very terrible. Also I do a small bit of graphic design, I'm a little better at that but don't do it as much. Also im a great at cooking, especially for my age. I don't cook anything fancy, think of a mom and pop style cooking.

I've been really coming to realize how much of an art writing can be, so that. I also like drawing with colored pencils sometimes lol. I just signed up for basically a poetry composition class, so I guess that. Creative fiction was always alluring to me. Thinking/Ideas in general can be an art too I'd suppose.

Photography, although it's not as much an art to me as it's a craft. It can be used as an art, but that's not really what I use it for.

Game Design and Development kinda (voted for it). I'm working on it, but it is so hard. I do read tutorials about it and have tried few things. Forgot to vote on sketching and paintings. I like to sketch stuff on my sparetime as well.

Well, I was able to check off a lot of these.

I have always drawn and painted, since a young age. In fact, I came across one of my first drawings I ever framed which is me in a super hero outfit with a word bubble saying, "You're no a piece of art!" to a guy I destroyed in the picture.

I am still involved heavily in music today. I have played the guitar for a decade. This is my 11th year. I also play a few other instruments and generally don't have a problem picking up other stringed instruments and letting it rip. Music is one of my favorite things in life.

I also write poetry, lyrics, short stories and novels. One of my greatest gifts in life is writing. I have several things in the works right now, including a short book of poetry that has art that relates to the poems, a family history book and a novel.

Trick-based sports in regards to biking, snowboarding and skateboarding. I've done a lot of these most my life, but snowboarding was something new to me this last year.

Graphic design. All self-taught. Been doing it for over a decade. I also love to cook and garden.

Looks like I'm a winner.

Piano, guitar, and singing. Used to be classical but now it's more contemporary stuff.

And cooking.. I fucking triage artisan bread.

I like to write short stories sometimes; I am shocked and appalled that you didn't include acting!!!

Fuck I meant to include acting but by the time I had written 15 examples it had left my mind. Acting and photography definitely need to be included though.

It's kinda sad that the only box I could tick was the inventing/engineering box...

Singing and writing...I've been doing both as long as I can remember.

Sketches and Paintings- I used to do paintings, but that was in art classes. I can't afford (I can, but it just seems a waste) to get painting supplies.

So I'm lazy and just use different shades of graphite pencils instead. Wish I could invest in a tablet and do some digital drawing, since it's really the same process I do traditionally, except that it's just on screen.

Sketches and Paintings. Even that i'm not very good at those, i like doing them.

Architecture and City-planning. Architecture is one of the things i like, all kinds of it. I'm interested in the way how architecture+city planning can affect the quality of life and it's surrounding enviroments.

That's why I love games like SimCity and Pharaoh. It irritates the hell out of me when my designs don't work lol. People are so picky. Industry has to be far away enough that it doesn't pollute the towns but close enough that it's not a pain to go to work. Stores work best when they're no more than a couple blocks away from where people live. And don't forget about entertainment and education
If a game is that frustrating and fun I can only imagine what the real deal would be like

I draw a lot, but I've only painted a few times. I'm horribly unmotivated to get into it though, unfortunately.

Also, I love music. I like to play the bongos, harmonica, drumset, keyboard, and bass guitar. I also mess around with banjo and mandolin. I'm in a band, and I sing in it as well. Lately, I've been away from home so I've been making music on the computer using FL Studio. It's not quite the same, but it's better than nothing.

I like poetry, and write a lot of lyrics.

I like all different kinds of art though
