      Notable people on DV

Sorry if this is answered or written anywhere.
So who are the creators of DV?. Who are the notable people and contributors?. Any good info on DV itself. Id like to know the history of DV.

      Alex is the owner.

The rest let them fill you up because I don't know too.

#1 - That blog is the creation of a half-baked, scorned, outcast dream guide that consistently broke rules and went rogue. It's about as fair and unbiased as FOX news.

Too bad no-Name is banned.. he fancied himself somewhat of an unofficial DV historian.

      -inhales deeply-

icedawg started the site back in the early 2000's and sold it to asher. asher held on to the site for a number of years and then sold it to Alex about 2 years ago.

Seeker, Aquanina, pj, Burns, Moonbeam, Clairity, Oneironaut, ninja9578, OpheliaBlue, Howie, Amethyst Star (hope I'm not leaving anyone out) are/were the cornerstones of early DV's foundation. They were pioneers in overseeing the development and progress of infant DV's community.

Others came later, but the above are responsible for DV's early success.

icedawg was a great leader.. very involved in lucid dreaming. Started the website as a project for class (If I'm not mistaken) and didn't think it would grow to be the world's leading hub for dream-related information, as it is today.

asher was an alright admin at first. Owned a company called Top Cola and made DV a subsidiary of it. Wasn't very active in the latter years of his ownership duties.. very few updates to the site as well as little owner -> staff communication. During the latter part of his reign as owner, the admins pretty much were the owners.

Alex came on board and saved DV. Doubled the sites value, increased membership, took an active role in the community and helped it move to its necessary next level.

      ------------------------------

As far as who's who among members.. too many to call. You've got Universal Mind, Xei, Mark... just a hell of a lot of people. You can find most of them with teal names (if they're active).

      -catches breath-

He's very involved on the back end side of things and stays in regular communication with staff members. the administrators are "mini Alex's". They're here so Alex can be here less. But, take note, he does still post announcements, updates etc. using his account.

Yes I noticed he posts announcement and updates. But I don't know shit about running a forum so I don't really know what's going on behind the scenes.

Leo Volont was the most notable member of DV until they banned him for some stupid reason. I miss him and his long diatribes about how Peter was the antichrist.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

A lot of stuff goes on behind the scenes, and Alex pays attention. He posts occasionally.

The people who make the forum are the ones who visit regularly.

Some of those people who began posting years ago are still around.

The community is also sectioned off by their involvement. The community + time = generations. ie your grandfather, your father, and you. The community of friends you developed when you joined are probably different from the ones I developed when I joined. That's what we call generations here because people come and people go. Therefore notable people aren't ranked by their "current notoriety", but their active lifespan on the forum.

Again, active members with teal names and/or, and vet status badges fall into this category.

Allow me to begin by saying thank you to the OP. Your curiosity has sparked the revelation of sweet and juicy information that I appreciate having learned about this forum.

I speak from my own personal experience, having been a member of a forum that split and engaged in a sort of "Civil Cold War". Ultimately, a lot of people were banned, including myself towards the later months of the incident. I went from Moderator to Banned after "Going rogue". I was banned for two years, as a part of a group of people who were made out by the main group as rejects. Later on, both me and my "Partner in crime", who was banned at the same time for the same reason as myself, came back and both attained "Administrator" rank...

With these issues, there is no Good and Bad side.... There are different points of view, and it's pointless to dwell on them.
I appreciate your warning about the blog in question - however, I believe that there is never only one "Biased" point of view. Looking past all of the forum drama that I wasn't there to witness, I would say that the author of the Lucid Enquirer is just as credible as anyone on this forum - and it would be hypocritical of me to purposely ignore documentation on the basis that it is biased.

Hi DreiHundert. If the blog casts a negative shadow on DV, then the above warning/disclaimer I highlighted, should appropriately serve as reason enough why.

Interesting about the whole forum drama thing you mentioned in your post though. It's reminiscent of a nearly identical situation that happened here. Though that situation led to the owner fleeing and me becoming moderator then shortly afterward, administrator.

The past is the past, but the drama that enshrouded the author of the blog happened during my reign. I am not too prideful where I can't find fault in myself or admit personal bias when it's warranted. DV's an internet home and I'm therefore more partial to protecting it's good name. You're more than welcome to read the blog. I never meant to discourage anyone from doing so. Source, however, is telling.

I felt compelled to comment because I feel that I have been in that blog owner's position before...

I don't see anything wrong with Dreamviews - it's a great community full of open minded people, and in retrospect, I can see a clear bias against DV on that particular blog, as you've noted.

Personally I miss Shift, and I feel she was very important to the community when I joined. But that's a whole other mess.
Guess Jeff's right about the generations thing.

Thanks guys, loads of good stuff here
Also how the hell is it possible that there are more than 50000 members but only ever around 50 people online
Just wanted to say that this forum really is quite special. After both the nexus forums and technic pack forums when I was still modding games I was really put off from forums. If one word was said opposing a member with a high post count you would be sluaghtered. Here on the other hand there is a great atmosphere.
