      What's your Burning Desire?

Many of you may think, "I don't really have a burning desire." I think this is typically caused by being so disappointed by life that you've grown numb to your desires. So I pose the question:

If you knew you could not fail, what would you want more than anything?

But maybe you're at a crossroads or were recently disillusioned and just don't know exactly what you want. That's fine, tell us about what you want anyways, even if you're sort of confused.

Maybe it's not one thing. That's fine too, but I don't care about things you sort of want. I care about the desires that burn inside of you.

I'll show you mine if you show me yours.

My burning desire is to permenantly die.

      To Die

I would go to bed aged 3ish to 8 hoping-deeply to never wake up. I didn't want to go to heaven or dream. I wanted to stop existing like I was never born.

I don't mean suicide in case there is life after death and punishment for suicide. I mean the final second death into the deep dark void.

Nearly every religion says this death I want don't exist. Except Buddhism. When I was bout 13 I read a penguin book on Buddhism. It was the only book on budhism available in Cairns in 1973.

Somewhere in that small-print paper back I read that permanent death is not available to anyone but the most advanced Buddhas. The rest of us are doomed to reincarnated, destined by our past deeds (our karmas).

My fervent desire is to circumvent all the rigermorole and jump to the end game. I think I have a chance because every thing is based on fervent desire, (spiritually), and as an innocent infant I went to bed, powerfully hoping, never to awaken.

I could say a lot more.

I believe, according to buddhism, that sort of death is available right this moment. And it doesn't even require death of the body.

Finding love and be the best?

All successful people men and women are big dreamers. They imagine what their future could be, ideal in every respect, and then they work every day toward their distant vision, that goal or purpose.

It's best to have failure happen early in life. It wakes up the Phoenix bird in you so you rise from the ashes.

I'd like to achieve a sense of perspective and insight that doesn't only give me a moment of happiness but really changes my way of thinking permanently. A sort of understanding that removes worry and stress about trivial and temporary things. I suppose that's what people seek through spirituality. Nothing has been capable of giving me that for more than about a day.

I had a scary moment a few days ago when I felt like there was absolutely nothing at all I really wanted. I suppose it's often a challenge even to work out what these desires are.

Create some blonde that I think is my Anima and dream guide, somehow get her to be manifested into people's dreams, each having their own perception of her, while I'll most likely never find her. Make people think I'm crazy for being to romantic with a figment of my imagination. Then somehow get blamed for creating an idea in their minds.

      Naaaaaaaaaaaaah.

To find a low maintenance wife in the future who is into dreaming in general and doesn't care what I do in them. I don't know what I would do if someone I actually loved in waking life realizes I've been unceunceunceunceuncing with random women in my dreams.

Yeah, if I do find that right person, it would be an android.

I wish nothing but be freed from anger, hate, frustration, doubt, emptiness, etc and be filled with pure, blissful and uncorruptable happiness. That's basicly what everyone is seeking, really.

I feel like a stupid little kid in saying this, but it's the truth.

To live an exciting life similar to those found in some good fantasy novels, in which I play some important role, preferably involving magic. I want excitement and to feel like I have some purpose that I consider important, that I'm actually doing something that matters in some close-to-objective sense. To fight evil, to go on exciting adventures. I'd go through a lot of suffering but if I had some purpose it would keep me going.

I suppose that drive to do something important and to have some purpose has faded a lot. It was strong when I was a kid, but now it's pretty much completely numbed. Nothing matters after we all die and it's rare that anyone in this modern word could go on any endeavor resembling an adventure. I don't believe in evil, I don't think the world has any meaning and magic doesn't exist. And I'm not important. Although I was somewhat brainwashed while I was a kid to believe I'm exceptionally talented in almost every way, I've come to realize that I'm no more significant in any sense than any average human on the planet. I don't believe in evil or God and I don't think the world has any purpose. That thought can be nice and peaceful, but if I'm honest it really is excitement I hunger for. If I do think about it, I want it so much it hurts, so I don't usually think about it.

      surprisingly awesome Dianeva

Mine has been basically the same thing, and I feel the fading experience as well. I cling on to it though, because there are things that can be changed for the better. There are greedy people out there who can use philosophical battle. Thank goodness there's still some scenic wilderness left to be seen and traveled to with some luck. The spontaneity of life could send you on adventure if you're open to those kind of opportunities. Science might be the closest thing to magic, considering how much of nature's workings is still a mystery to us and how unfamiliarly cool they can seem. I don't know how important whatever I do will actually turn out to be, but I've also found fantasy to be an enjoyable embellishment for life and goals lol. I'm not really in any place to talk about burning desires right now though, I've been generally somber about everything.

      To travel.

I want to live life hopping the world, experiences the cultures of every corner of the planet. Seeing life for how it is and not for how society warps us into believing. From the arctic all the way to the rainforests and deserts. From the major cities to the tiny islands where only 30 people reside.

My goal eventually is to take "mini-retirements" throughout my life, so that I can take 2-3 month breaks living in other countries temporarily.
Check out my DreamViews Podcast with OpheliaBlue!

The best reason for having dreams is that in dreams no reasons are necessary.

No sailor controls the sea. Only a foolish sailor would say such a thing. Similarly, no lucid dreamer controls the dream.
Like a sailor on the sea, we lucid dreamers direct our perceptual awareness within the larger state of dreaming.

This may seem a bit immature, but I do have a burning desire to break cultural prejudices and piss unjustly pompous people who think they have almost everything established off. Thinking more seriously about it, I really have this strong desire for drastically changing things, for evolving humanity into the future, for rebelling against the greed laced establishments. Not even just the establishments of society, but of our basic views. It's weird to explain, but I naturally take an approach like everything generally accepted is fake and can be replaced by something better, like I'm naturally inclined to look for rebellion and future change. The thought that what has been seen and established so far in the history of humanity is all there is and all I have to do is learn from it and follow makes me sick. I want to be a part of something wholly new and unprecedented, something better to replace the fundamental and give a fresh breath to everybody. I know it sounds crazy, but the thread did say anything lol.
