Didn't make any friends. The only friend I had there only had two classes with me. Never went to a public school before so I was pretty confused. And this one girl I text a lot wouldn't even look at me (she's one of the "popular" ones). I sat alone at lunch too.. I think I'm ugly. I have bushy eyebrows but i'm thin and I'm Indian... Well maybe the year will get better. Anyone wanna share first day stories?
No man you'r not ugly, you got to be optimistic n positive you know the rest. It does really matter, because if you miss the appearance you cannot change it. But what you could is to be funny for example. Also you need to look to others who are being bullied or something, just thank God at the position you are in it.
Anyway my school starts after 3 weeks i'm so happy :D

Give it a few weeks, and just be yourself. If you plan to attend after-school activities, maybe you can find people who have your same lunch period, and hang around them. Besides, it's just 30-45 minutes of eating in the first place.
I moved around a few High Schools, and ended up sitting alone, but when I asked a girl nicely if I can hang around with her friends, she accepted. I'm sure when you get to know your classmates better, you can always ask if you can hang out with them.

I didn't mean to fully change your character by the way, of course be yourself but you can improve, nothing is wrong I guess. So even if you said a bad joke just make another joke from it :D But don't blame me if it didn't work alright??

It is no big deal if you don't make friends the first day. In my experience, you can get away sitting with anyone you want. I wasn't that popular in school but I was a nice person so everyone liked me.
If you walk over to any table, and there is some open seats and you ask if its okay if you sit down, people will pretty much always say yes. In fact a lot of the time in highschool I just sat down where I wanted, or sat down at an empty table and other people would sit by me. At that point, all it takes is leaning over and saying hello to them.

You don't gotta be anything, high school popularity is the most worthless, vestigial achievement you could endeavor. It is seriously meaningless, and all that time you spend worrying over your lack of popularity could be used working on real friendships. What you learn in high school is pointless, and how cool you think you are is also pointless. All you take from HS is a couple good friends and a couple good laughs.Quote:

Anyway, my first day was in 2004 and I already had a good friend whom I attended with. We had other friends before but were unable to go to the same school, so we just made new friends. Then I got expelled in my junior year which I ended up going to a different school, and the few people I knew there just didn't have much in common with me. I felt alone and ended up ditching a lot (like maybe once a week or every other week). Nobody was mean to me, and there wasn't really any "popular crowd", but I still felt alone. I had to meet my original friends outside of school.
I know that wasn't really advice, but after graduating and going through College, I hardly think about High School anymore. It's almost... irrelevant. I would still definitely try what Alric mentioned.

Here's some advice. I almost swear by this, who ever is sitting next to you, introduce yourself and hold our your hand to shake. I got advice to do this and I was amazed, people always looked back and introduced themselves and shook my hand. I didn't make great friends from it, but in my earlier days, my best friends always started from just small talk with my neighbor.

I'm currently a senior in high school and the biggest thing I can tell you when first moving to a school is join some clubs or activities that you enjoy, be yourself and don't try too hard to fit in. Last year somebody who just moved here joined our marching band. She was nice and friendly but tried way too hard to make friends and I felt like she was kind of fake, if you know what I mean. I found her kind of annoying and never really became friends with her but she did find a small clique.
The main points I want to stress are joining something that you enjoy and being yourself. If you join a club that you enjoy then you will meet other people with similar interests and friends will be made much easier. If you're yourself then you don't have to worry about keeping up this persona of whoever you're trying to be. Plus if you enjoy whatever you join it also provides you entertainment. You don't want to join a drama club if you hate acting or join a band when you hate playing an instrument.
Just be friendly and be yourself and you'll have a group of friends in no time.

Took me a few seconds to find that, you could probably find a better one. If you're really self-concious about your eyebrows, then just trim them. You don't have to shape them like that guys or anything. :P Don't trim them too much though, you don't want to make it obvious. Maybe go a little tiny bit shorter every (other) week.
And as for being thin: one hundred push ups
