Answer please.
If it does nothing bad and nothing good, then in my opinion its a bit pointless. To me its like eating when bored no benefits.
But I don't smoke so please tell me why you do, also why do some of you want it legalized?
Cheers.

I emboldened the problem with this question. Weed does do something good. Medicinally speaking its benefits are well documented. Recreationally speaking it makes you feel fucking euphoric, increases your creativity, increases the vividness of your experiences, makes music, sex, movies, cartoons, videogames, sports, and pretty much everything way better. You laugh uncontrollably, not because you can't help it but because everything suddenly becomes very funny.
I remember when I was a child I thought weed and cigarettes were the same thing, the only way I can possibly see your point is if I assume you are currently suffering from the same confusion. Weed is not at all pointless. Well... no more pointless than anything else at least.
I like how you didn't treat me like an idiot in your reply.
I just remembered the whole schizo cure thing but in the long run wouldn't it be like cigarettes if legalised because of second-hand smoke.
I don't want that.
Second hand smoke from cannabis is harmless. And to answer your question - it makes you feel comfortable, totally at ease, and stimulates the mind. Your senses become heightened, you see the world from a different perspective, and (once you're used to the high) you process information much more efficiently (imo).
It is relaxing. Gives you an altered mind state. Can help you deal with pain and stress. Some people do it because they think it makes them cool, but those people are stupid. Also it makes everything more fun. But in my experience as long as what you are doing isn't serious. I'd rather smoke after I get serious work and things I have to deal with over with and get high and do fun things.
Please. What about contact highs.
You won't get a contact high if you're walking down the street and someone smoking weed passes you and you smell it. There has to be a ton of smoke, or a lot of smoke in a sealed off area basically. If you're in a room and people are smoking, then you might get a contact high, but if you don't want that then just leave. It would be pretty hard for someone to get a contact high when they didn't want it.
Look, I don't know how old you are, and I don't want to be seen as urging 14-17 year olds to experiment with drugs, but I can't emphasize this enough, especially based on your (no offense here) apparent ignorance regarding them:
YOU SHOULD REALLY EXPERIMENT WITH DRUGS.
Seriously, throughout my childhood I was a pretty depressed kid. I shut myself off from the world, emotions, people, relationships, everything. The reasons for this are complex and obnoxious and not terribly interesting. The point is this: If it weren't for (in this order) alcohol, weed, ecstasy, mushrooms, and LSD, **I would still be that miserable, depressed kid**. I know there's so very much in our culture that tries to program you to think that 'drugs are bad, mmkay,' but they're only bad if you ABUSE them. Among many, many other positive effects, marijuana relaxes you and puts you into a state of non-tension that gives you the space necessary to take a step back from whatever it is in your life that causes you tension or prevents you from being what you want to be. Once you have this space, once you have this 'higher' perspective, you are free to do and be WHATEVER you actually want to be. You can step back from everything in your life and realize what you need and want, what you don't need and don't want, and begin to shift things accordingly. In a fundamental way it alleviates what I can only describe as 'soul sickness', or depression, which for me was a state in which I was so deep in a hole that I could not even begin to think about how to climb out, all I could do was desperately feast on anything that gave me the slightest, transient comfort. Nothing, NOTHING in life is more important than expanding your perceptions and broadening your horizons, and that is EXACTLY what drugs (at least, the drugs I'm talking about. You should probably stay away from the big baddies like meth, heroin, coke, etc., though you're free to do whatever you please) can do for you. Smoking weed relaxed me and opened my mind to just how amazing the world we live in can be if you just retune your focus, it brought me out of my shell and the bottomless pit I was trapped in. I CANNOT ENDORSE ITS USE ENOUGH. Seriously. Seriously.
Before the first time I took ecstasy at a rave, for example, I *hated* people. I'm not exaggerating. If you've read Catcher in the Rye, 18 year old me makes Holden Caulfield seem Charlie Bucket from Willy Wonka. The feeling of rolling at a rave with all those people, how everyone was just accepted for who they were without pretense or posturing, how everyone could just BE and everyone unconditionally supported and loved each other... it utterly changed my life and perceptions of people. I went from bitter, hateful, misanthropic conservative to excessively empathetic bleeding-heart liberal in a few short years.
At the very least you owe it to yourself to TRY it. Lots of people will tell you lots of different things about a given substance, but the only way to truly know anything is to experiment yourself.
Yup, second hand smoke is not really an issue whatsoever with marijuana, asides from the smell. Unless you're sitting in a small enclosed room with a few joints/bongs being passed around, you won't get "contact high" (never heard that term before). Besides, it's really no different than smoking tobacco. I believe most states have changed smoking laws so that smokers either need to go outside or to designating building. Where I work, we actually had to build new buildings JUST for the smokers, because the law said it can't even be a separate room, it needs to be a completely separate building. I don't see how marijuana usage would be any different.
But, of course, burning marijuana is just the most common method. Vaporizing and cooking with cannabis obviously eliminates that "second hand smoke." If cannabis were legalized, I imagine we may see more well-made and affordable vaporizers on the market. While eating cannabis isn't for everyone (it's a different effect that smoking), vaping is very similar to smoking, yet without all the negative side affects that come from inhaling any smoke (not necessarily marijuana smoke).
I smoke for the Euphoric feeling it sends my brain, If I get a really good first hit, I can litterally feel it hit my brain, I also like writing music while on it. Plus it helps with my panic attacks and has helped with my depression in the past.
I'm not into smoking at all. I just wanted to know what appealed to some people.
And none taken.
