Thread: Things I've Learned

I've learned that I could always learn more. I've come to learn that when things get dramatic, always stay quiet and keep out of it, the stress isn't worth it.

-I learned that the more intelligent I think I am, the faster I find out that I'm still stupid in many aspects of life.
-I learned that my problem is not overcoming obstacles, is wanting to overcome them.
-I learned that you can learn stuff from even the most ignorant person on the subject.
-I learned that being right about something does not give me the right to call the others ignorant, even in thought.
-I'm learning that being good at something means getting off your horse and making efforts towards it, despite many people telling you're already amazing at it.

On a final note, I'd love to learn the lesson that what matters is the trip and not the destination. Any teachers around ?

Wholeheartedly agree with all that and I'd also like to really cement that last bit in my everyday consciousness. It's difficult to remember.

I've learned that when my sister buys string cheese for her daughter, she is also buying string cheese for me... she just doesn't know it.

I've noticed this a lot lately in myself

I've learned that in order to make any true positive changes in life you have to start with yourself instead of looking to help those around you. If you can't do it yourself, you can't really expect anyone else to listen to any "good advice" you might have.

I've also learned that silence is better than all the senseless rambling used to fill it.

I've learned that Rove likes to break into my house and steal just a few random socks. It's him..... It's always been him.

I've learned that the easiest decisions to make are usually the wrong ones.

I've learned that no time truly belongs to you when kids are in your life.

I've learned I'm actually pretty okay with that.

Smoking too much weed makes you depressed and lazy. So now I only do it in the weekends, sometimes not at all as well.

Yes I'm from the netherlands.

(And no I'm not a depressed person, I'm very content with my life in fact. )

Never be arrogant about addiction

You're not as strong as you think.

Never leave your car unlocked, even in your own driveway.

Never leave valuables in your car.

- I've learned that when freehanding drawing lineart, I should work on a bigger canvas so that when I reduce the size in half after it's done, the lines will look thin and crisp. No wonder my digital drawings look like a 1st grader drew them.

I've learned to taste my milk before I drink it.

I've learned to check expiration dates.


I learned to check the dates on more than just milk.

I've learned that I tend to attach myself to a charismatic person and believe what they believe, or what they want me to believe, for a while.

I've learned my dad is completely oblivious to the fact that he snaps at me whenever I have a slightly emotional tone of voice but he's allowed to speak to me however emotionally he wants to.

More importantly, I've learned there's no reason to tolerate hypocrisy in anyone.

While on my new meds, drinking can make me psychotic. But I so love getting drunk, to the point where one might worry.

I see these responses are getting less philosophical.

I've realized that my parents have never apologized to me for anything in my life. Either they always think they're right or are too stubborn to admit when they're wrong.

Just realised the same thing yesterday. heh

I've learned that if you have something to say to someone that might make them hot-headed or possibly angry at you, it's best to speak to them on the phone to dampen their emotions. That way, they take their frustration with their work, etc., and are more calm when they actually come to you. And it is even better if you know they work around many people at once, no one is going to want to let others know what's going on with their phone conversations (at least most people).

I've learned that I don't always make the best decisions and I really do benefit from other's input, especially on actions that impact my comfort or available free-time.


I've learned that I really do not care for network television nor the reality shows that so many people seem to relish.

I have learned that to get an opinion, or point of view across, I need to use an analogy ( comparison )
English teacher at school put an end to my ability to write. Yes I was a victim of verbal abuse.
That is one reason I write my replies on seperate lines.

I have learned that this world would run a lot smoother, if not for greed.

I have learned that many inventions, and beneficial facts are held back from the general public.

I have learned that the more money a person has, the better they think they are in comparison to those around them.

I have learned that a high percentage of people are permenantly angry, and confrontational.

I have learned that my dinner is ready, so I am ending this reply
