      Are you a clever person?

      Hey guys!

Any of you ever attempted to solve Einstein's Riddle? It's quite interesting and it's meant to tax your brain.

When Einstein created it he predicted that only 2% of the world's population would be able to solve this (find puzzle here! Einstein's Puzzle - StumbleUpon )

So, anyone gonna give it a go?

Can you solve it? If so, how long did it take you?

I solved it today in 18 minutes. Try and beat my time, I dare you.

That is true! There will always be things in the world that no one understands.

However there are many 'clever' people in the world as clever is classed a being above the national average of intelligence and as the average of people can't solve this, in political senses, the people who can, are indeed clever or intelligent.

I've seen a similar question like this in my maths puzzle class. The best way to solve this is to get out a piece of blank paper and pencils, colour pencils if they help you to visualise.

I got it in around 17 - 18 minutes. I've a IQ of around 107 - 109 so I presume any average person can solve this because my IQ belongs in the average range. However, I do believe I'm clever in my own ways, clever but not omnipotent so I wouldn't know everything there is to know in this world.

An IQ determines brag points more than actually intelligence. I've seen some pretty stupid people claim IQs of 140+.

As far as this riddle goes, I solved it in 14 seconds by cheating, which I think counts as resourceful cleverness.
Raen, rumpel, Zhaylin and 2 others like this.

Everything works out in the end, sometimes even badly.

I accidentally cheated. I thought the whole page was the puzzle, scrolled down and found the answer. I've done similar puzzles though without much trouble. Interestingly enough, 140+ isn't too far off. I haven't taken an "official" IQ test, but of the ones I've taken, I tend to average about 120ish. I imagine if I spent a little more time on the questions and didn't rush them, I could probably get it up higher.

I don't know how well IQ tests actually measure intelligence, but maybe with a large enough sampling, there may be some correlation to be drawn.

It's not really a difficult riddle to solve. I would say that even at the time Einstein made it, there would have been a lot more than 2% able to solve the riddle. It's just a case of logical thinking. Anybody can do it. I believe I did it in just under 13 minutes and according to IQ tests, I have an IQ of 140-144, though I don't know exactly how reliable they are. One of them was a link from Mensa though.

Not difficult at all. I solved it in less than 10 minutes becuase it's just like a Logic Puzzle (without the grid) deriving from the mathematic fields of simple deduction. I do a lot of logic puzzles to pass time.

With that being said, I believe anyone without learning difficulties can solve this riddle.

That's true, but you'd be surprised how many 'cloever' people have very poor logical skills so find this very difficult.

I'd reckon we can give this to a kid to solve, I'm confident they can solve it too.

Worst come to worst, we can show them the solution once and we give them a different riddle, they should be able to solve it.

I did it. I didn't keep track of time but it didn't take that long. And the way they explain how you need to do it is way to fucking complicated. I just put all the data in a grid way easyer. Only 2 percent of the population?? callingbullshit.jpg I don't believe that. I'm seventeen and suck at math and coming down from a 3 day binge so every man and his dog should be able to solve this . At least if they have a little bit of dedication and don't give up after 10 minutes.

I didn't mean to be cynical I was just skeptical about the 2% thingy. It is a nice Riddle to occupy your time. Can you post another? I'm bored as shit and need something to occupy my time.

Nice riddle , although I doubt that only 2% of the people can solve it. Anyways....I KNEW HE HAD THE FISH!

I solved it rather quickly but I, like others, enjoy logic puzzles.

The 2% is probably low but it shouldn't be surprising that a lot of people have difficulty with things like this. I recall a story about geographic illiteracy that brings [a lack of] basic knowledge skills and abilities into sharp relief:

      Survey Reveals Geographic Illiteracy

About 11 percent of young citizens of the U.S. couldn't even locate the U.S. on a map. The Pacific Ocean's location was a mystery to 29 percent; Japan, to 58 percent; France, to 65 percent; and the United Kingdom, to 69 percent

      Ouch.

It was only an estimate at the time of the puzzle being created, the population has grown alot since then and intelligence has increased along with the fact that Einstein would have wanted it to seem harder than it actually was so probably used the figure to put people off.

Spacer I don't currently but I'm sure I could find a few really simple and easy ones to occupy a small amount of time. :L

Einstein did not make this puzzle. Einstein was born in 1879, Kools were first manufactured in 1933. Therefore, he did not write this. At least not when he was a boy. Probably not at all.
