"We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost"
"you the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful!!, to make this life a wonderful adventure!"

“The deepest secret is that life is not a process of discovery, but a process of creation. You are not discovering yourself, but creating yourself anew. Seek therefore, not to find out Who You Are, but seek to determine Who You Want to Be.”
― Neale Donald Walsch
“Often we take personally the slings and arrows of our 'abusers'. But frequently we are merely the interchangeable pawns of their own neurotic dramas. Anyone else in your position would have received the same treatment. There is nothing especially noxious or negatively noteworthy about you.”

"Is the game controlling you, or are you controlling the game?"
-The Ninja, from Angry Video Game Nerd's "Ninja Gaiden" review.
"That's all you need in life, a little place for your stuff. That's all your house is- a place to keep your stuff. If you didn't have so much stuff, you wouldn't need a house. . . A house is just a pile of stuff with a cover on it. You can see that when you're taking off in an airplane. You look down; you see everybody's got a little pile of stuff." - George Carlin
"There's just enough bullshit to hold things together in this country. Bullshit is the glue that binds us as a nation. . . All men are equal. Justice is blind. The press is free. Your vote counts. Business is honest. The good guys win. The police are on your side. God is watching you. Your standard of living will never decline, and everything is gonna be just fine. The official, national bullshit story." - George Carlin
Of course, I've always liked everything Carlin said since I first read one of his books, so here's a more recent quote I enjoyed from Jimquisition-
"Games are no longer games. They're territories, carved up and handed over to individual warlords: Gamestop, Amazon, Steam, and whatever proprietary digital service the publisher decided to pull out its own arse. They're all served long before the customer is." - Jim Sterling
Stand upright, speak thy thoughts, declare The truth thou hast, that all may share; Be bold, proclaim it everywhere: They only live who dare. Voltaire
Let us go forth, the tellers of tales, and seize whatever prey the heart long for, and have no fear. Everything exists, everything is true, and the earth is only a little dust under our feet. William Butler Yeats
Don't believe everything you think. ?
Whenever you think or you believe or you know, you’re a lot of other people: but the moment you feel, you’re nobody-but-yourself. e.e. cummings
Wouldn't the sentence, 'I want to put a hyphen between the words Fish and And and And and Chips in my Fish-And-Chips sign' have been clearer if quotation marks had been placed before Fish, and between Fish and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and And, and And and and, and and and Chips, as well as after Chips?"

So many great quotes to choose from...
Here's one that might resonate with a lot of people on DV:
Admit it. You aren't like them. You're not even close. You may occasionally dress yourself up as one of them, watch the same mindless television shows as they do, maybe even eat the same fast food sometimes. But it seems that the more you try to fit in, the more you feel like an outsider, watching the "normal people" as they go about their automatic existences. For every time you say club passwords like "Have a nice day" and "Weather's awful today, eh?", you yearn inside to say forbidden things like "Tell me something that makes you cry" or "What do you think deja vu is for?". Face it, you even want to talk to that girl in the elevator. But what if that girl in the elevator (and the balding man who walks past your cubicle at work) are thinking the same thing? Who knows what you might learn from taking a chance on conversation with a stranger? Everyone carries a piece of the puzzle. Nobody comes into your life by mere coincidence. Trust your instincts. Do the unexpected. Find the others...

Heh, I just remembered this quote:
"There are two things that are infinite: The universe and human stupidity. And I am not sure about the former." ~Albert Einstein
This one is funny because it's true.
"Consider the fact that for 3.8 billion years, a period of time older than the Earth's mountains and rivers and oceans, every one of your forebears on both sides has been attractive enough to find a mate, healthy enough to reproduce, and sufficiently blessed by fate and circumstances to live long enough to do so. Not one of your pertinent ancestors was squashed, devoured, drowned, starved, stranded, stuck fast, untimely wounded, or otherwise deflected from its life's quest of delivering a tiny charge of genetic material to the right partner at the right moment in order to perpetuate the only possible sequence of hereditary combinations that could result -- eventually, astoundingly, and all too briefly -- in you."
Bill Bryson, A Short History of Nearly Everything
"Great men are forged in fire. It is the privilege of lesser men to light the flame."
Really fuels my god complex.
Luckily or not I've never done any acid, but that's anyway one of my favorite quotes:
“Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, that we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves. Heres Tom with the Weather.” Bill Hicks
"Video games are bad for you? That's what they said about Rock n' Roll!" ~Shigeru Miyamoto
"Faith is irrelevant. One could have an infinite amount of faith and it would still be the equivalent of nothing" ~Spock (Leonard Nimoy)
“You cannot do a kindness too soon, for you never know how soon it will be too late.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
“It only takes a split second to smile and forget, yet to someone that needed it, it can last a lifetime.”
― Steve Maraboli

^This one really cracked me up. I am SO going to say this to the next girl who hits on me.
“Ah, but it is hard to find this track of the divine in the midst of this life we lead, in the besotted humdrum age of spiritual blindness, with its architecture, its business, its politics, its men! ... I cannot understand what pleasures and joys they are that drive people to the overcrowded railways and hotels, into the packed cafes with the suffocating and oppressive music, to the bars and variety entertainments, to World Exhibition, to the Corsos.” - Haller (protagonist) in Steppenwolf, Hesse

“I think it's much more interesting to live not knowing than to have answers which might be wrong. I have approximate answers and possible beliefs and different degrees of uncertainty about different things, but I am not absolutely sure of anything and there are many things I don't know anything about, such as whether it means anything to ask why we're here. I don't have to know an answer. I don't feel frightened not knowing things, by being lost in a mysterious universe without any purpose, which is the way it really is as far as I can tell.” - Richard Feynman

• Albel Nox: "Compassion? Seeing things from another's standpoint? You know nothing about the real world.

(in free translation, probably with mistakes):
"Enjoy your life in System by maximizing your wins and losses - but don't become addict. Get rid of anger at the way how the system works, at clear injustice, unfair advantages, brutality, callousness, lies. It's a world purposely designed as a predatory - by this it can be a great learning-machine." ~ R. Monroe.
I read this in an article today and it was very motivating for me because of the current events in my life.
"Breakups are hard, but you will move on and find someone who will make your world go round again. You can either dwell in the past or break free and zoom into your future. There are many fishes in the sea, but you have to pick the right one. If it’s meant to be, it will be. You don’t need to worry about that. True racism is near nonexistent, prejudice is however prevalent in every facet of the US social apparatus, so then why are decent peoples, of both spectra, so quick to hide their genuine concerns when it comes to political manipulation of the media? "You remember when i said how i was gonna explain about life, buddy? Well the thing about life is, it gets weird. People are always talking about truth. Everybody always knows what the truth is, like it was toilet paper or somethin, and they got a supply in the closet. But what you learn, as you get older, is there ain't no truth. All there is is bullshit, pardon my vulgarity here. Layers of it. One layer of bullshit on top of another. And what you do in life like when you get older is, you pick the layer of bullshit that you prefer and that's your bullshit, so to speak."

Lots of nice quotes here. :)
Because of how my memory works, I only have a few favourite quotes that I can bring up spontaneously and which are worthy of deep thought, most quotes I remember well are simply on the "amusing" or "funny" categories; however, here's something I liked very much from a work I read only recently:
"The receptivity of the artist must never be confused with passivity. Receptivity is the artist's holding him/herself alive and open to hear what being may speak. (...) It is a waiting for the birthing process to begin to move in its own organic time. It is necessary that the artist have this sense of timing, that he or she respect these periods of receptivity as part of the mystery of creativity and creation." - Slight paraphrase from The Courage to Create, Rollo May
"Of course, everyone will claim they respect someone who tries to speak the truth, but in reality, this is a rare quality. Most respect those who speak truths they agree with, and their respect for the speaking only extends as far as their realm of personal agreement. It is less common, almost to the point of becoming a saintly virtue, that someone truly respects and loves the truth seeker, even when their conclusions differ wildly." -Walsh
"If we could see without the distorting influence of ego, everything would appear as it is, perfect." - William Blake
"The three most difficult things for a human being are not physical feats or intellectual achievements. They are, first, returning love for hate. Second, including the excluded. Third, admitting that you are wrong." - Unkown
"You possess everything you need right now to be happy and fulfilled. Happiness naturally awakens in you through a simple process of awareness. You see life differently because you are different. You see things you have never seen before. Beautiful things. You're much more energetic, much more alive. When you finally awake, you don't try to make good things happen; they just happen. You understand suddenly that everything that happens to you is good, and that all is well, even at times when things are a mess." - Anthony De Mello
"Perhaps all the dragons of our lives are princesses who are only waiting to see us once beautiful and brave." - Rainer Maria Rilke
I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain.
-Litany Against Fear
"None are more hopelessly enslaved than those who falsely believe they are free." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
"It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society." - Jiddu Krishnamurti
"The individual has always had to struggle to keep from being overwhelmed by the tribe. If you try it, you will be lonely often, and sometimes frightened, but no price is too high to pay for the privilege of owning yourself." - Friedrich Nietzsche
"All genuine learning is active, not passive. It involves the use of the mind, not just the memory. It is a process of discovery, in which the student is the main agent, not the teacher." - Mortimer Adler
"No one is looking for truth, that's just talk. Truth doesn't hide from us, we hide from truth. If you have to look for truth, you won't find it because it's always right where you never look. It's like a trick you play on yourself, looking all over for something you already have." - Marichelle
"If you search within your heart, you will find something there that will make it possible for you to understand: a spark of disenchantment and discontent, which if fanned into a flame will become a raging forest fire that will burn up the whole of the illusory world you are living in, thereby unveiling to your wondering eyes the kingdom that you have always lived in unsuspectingly." - Anthony DeMello
"Don't miss the forest for the trees." -Unknown.
