Laying in a pool of my mother's blood. Since then I have become a serial killer and now live in the woods as a lumberjack.
Seriously: Some vague memories from kindergarten, so probably about 3-4 years old. Just random stuff like photocopying our hands and feet/painting them and putting on paper, and other small snippets from random times where nothing was really happening, like sitting in class just looking at something.
I think my earliest memory is also at around 4 years old. There are a few I remember vaguely but the most vivid one is when at my grandparents' house I chased their cat around just for fun. Eventually it ran into a dead end and turned around and hissed at me and clawed me. I got really scared and didn't touch it for a few days.
My earliest memory is that of my 4th birthday, but not awake.
I remember that it started in a dream, where I had no concept of anything and as time went by I started to question the "things" that were there. Remember the first question was "Why is it so cold..." and then followed by what is cold, what is what, what is a word and what is this and what I am before waking up. I literally had no idea who the people standing in front of me where, and just accepted them to be family when they told me so. I also had a very hard time understanding my own thoughts, as the words made no sense to me at the time.
My first memory was a nightmare.
I was two or three at the time and lived in apartments in Germany. I was walking the halls by myself and found myself going towards the basement. I kept walking towards the basement even though I was getting a little scared. Then I realized the stairs to the basement were covered in this goo (think petroleum jelly). Finally as I got closer I could see the end of the stairs and there was a green river in the basement. Within the river were faces that looked terrified and tortured. I was so afraid that I would slip on the stairs and fall into the river.
At that point I woke up.
I think that nightmare was inspired by Hades in the Disney movie Hercules.
My first memory was when my family was stationed in Germany when i was three. I remember all the snow, and my big wheel also Chocolate cakes. :)
Answering a thread just like this one… :cackle:
But no, seriously (honestly though, I think there is an old thread just like it, if not several, but that's cool) I have a few very vague memories of pre-school, laying on my little blanket to take a nap with all the other kids, and going under the street with my mom through the little walking tunnel to cross the street and then climbing through the sideways barrel in front of the school (it was there for that purpose). Oh, and being in the bathroom with the flu when I was really young and putting a little metal toy train engine in my mouth.
My first clear memory is when I was 6 and we drove down the street where my parents were buying a house. There was a kid my age leaning against a V tree in his front yard just a few houses up and as soon as we got into the house and I looked around and said I liked it I asked if I could run up the street and play with him. We became friends for many years.
Crawling around the house, dressed in nothing but a diaper. Pretty sure I was less than a year old. The floor tile was a light grey, and the walls were white. The common room had a high ceiling that slanted at a steep angle. I can still remember the sound and tone of other people's voices, but since I was incapable of speech, I had no clue what they were saying. Unlike most humans, I can remember some of mine infant days with perfect clarity. Being a baby was like being in fog; I could see things perfectly up close, but was practically blind from afar.
Heh, life is long when you live it--oh, but so short when you look back.
That's cool, Aristaeus. My hubby has memories of being 6 months old and terrified of a pipe that was going through a wall.
My first memory is from around the age of 3. I was sitting on a bathroom sink in front of the mirror and my mom stood in front of me and she was crying. Then there were bits of memory about a man in glasses and having to go on a long car ride.
My first dream memory was from around the age of 5. I dreamed of thought bubbles. I had a dream that I was having a dream that I was having a dream............. I was laying in bed sleeping in the original snapshot and the same was shown in all the bubbles that rose above me
I find memories of age 3 to be amazing. But less than a year old! That must be awesome.
I wonder how good your overall memory is Aristaeus? And Zhalin, does your husband have good memory? Thats just so cooooool.
This is a fun and interesting thread. My first memory was when I was under a year old too. Idk how many months because I don't have any other memories to reference for that period of time. But my mom and sister were laughing at me because I had gotten myself into a weird position. I didn't know why they were laughing but I wished they would move me. My other memories start around 2.
It's interesting how we don't have any recollection of the first years of our lives....
I was around 2 years old, I remember my Mom teaching me the names of the presidents with these little puzzle pieces.
