Thread: The small things that make you happy.

The moment of clarity that comes when you realize all that you've been doing, thinking, and saying throughout the day has been a reaction and you dial yourself in and are able to think about what you do and feel before doing or feeling them. The spontaneous moment, not the one guided by practice. It is the silver lining.

My small things are usually non-material, nothing material makes me happy enough to compare with being able to be calm with my thoughts, in control of my highly disorganized state of mind, knowing that despite being one without much empathy, I do have close friends and though I am often oblivious to most of their social cues and sometimes their feelings, I am at least a capable enough individual that I can assess things on a turn-by-turn basis. It is far too easy to get completely wrapped up in things even from the moment I awake, and if I don't take a few moments of voluntary pausing, I start getting kinda looney.

Books. Games. Fiction.

Daydreaming about future, lel.

What make me happy is when I do motocross with my friends in the forest (some good moments with my friends).

After going through twenty cruddy songs on youtube and finding the needle in the haystack.

Seeing animals outside makes me happy. Today I heard a loud clicking noise above me, so I looked up and saw a crow sitting on a lamppost making that sound. I didn't know they made clicking sounds, and it made me smile.

Learning more about gardening. It can get pretty intense and complex.

My fiancee makes fun of me for this, but funnel cake is the only physical item that can literally make me happy, no matter what. I'm always excited even at the mere mention of it

On that note, the BEST feeling of all is seeing a tiny baby plant sprout out of its seed. So green, so delicate, so light. I never get tired of it. My plants are practically my children. I want to see them grow and thrive on their own, after I give them help and plenty of love.

Maybe this is a big thing, but I just started a new job and this is the first time I've really experienced. I actually rather enjoy it even though it isn't a career or something I know I'd love doing, and pretty much everyone I work with is pretty cool. There's usually the obligatory 2 or 3 raging douches in most jobs, if not more, lol. Some how not here though.

Puns, hehe. Every time I take my son to counseling, we pass a sign that says: "You wish it, we granite". It always makes me smile.
Not a pun, but another sign says "No Ragrets" [tattoo removal], that makes me smile too.

Hmmm... other things that make me happy... my computer and good gaming, internet and being able to check in on DV and CNN; my animals when they're being goofy; my hubby when he's being rotten.

Today's date is 5/15/2015 and also it's a Friday which is the 5th day of the week.

That makes me happy.

Not too long ago, I was sitting in a train, looking out the window. A fast moving train, that is. I noticed how, at that speed, I could clearly see the size of clouds and how far away they were. Normally you can't easily see it because there's nothing to compare it to, but when you're moving fast you can easily compare it to the landscape below to see exactly how far up it is and how large it is. It felt amazing.

Darkness. I like being alone in pure darkness, i find it soothing and relaxing. When i'm angry or depressed about something i close off all the lights and sit alone in the dark and after a while i feel a lot calmer. Darkness and solitude go hand and hand.

I can relate to that 100%. The darker a room is the better I feel, it also makes me feel more creative, I'm less distracted by what I'm visually interpreting and I feel more imaginative.

The "ding" notification you get when someone messages you.

Freshly cleaned sheets and blankets.

How smooth your legs feel after you shave

Spending quality time with my parents who are 67 and 70 years old. My happiness is seeing them enjoy their grandchildren.
