      Seeing Things

I'm not exactly sure what's happening, but I plan to ask a friend tomorrow about it.
I keep seeing lights out of the corner of my eyes. Sometimes they're just faint and dancing about (mom has this too, we think it's probably some universal energy stuff floating around. They're not floaters. I've seen those and this is not that). This evening though, I had something happen that scared the crap out of me. I was sitting on one end of my bedroom and in the space in between the headboard for my daybed and my dresser a white light/streak shot across the way and then vanished. I went back to my computer and it dashed across the opposite direction. Needless to say I'm pretty frightened by this. I also keep thinking someone's passing by at college when I'm waiting before class but there's no one there. Or I'd see other stuff out of the corner of my eye like movement or shadows that are often cat-sized if I'm at home (no cats in the bedroom when this happens).
Some advice would be nice. Thanks!

You might want to ask an eye doctor about that, just in case there's something physical going on with your eyes. Sometimes I see lots of little dots in my vision, and talked to my eye doctor about it. She ran some tests (one of them tested my peripheral vision) and said that she thinks it's happening because I don't drink enough water regularly, which would cause the neurons in my eyes to kind of freak out and send random signals, causing me to see the dots. I remember she said that if I ever see falling streaks, kind of like rain, then something seriously wrong might be happening to my cornea and to let her know. Also, sometimes my vision will either start to go black or I'll see little sparkling confetti-like lights if I stand up suddenly after sitting or lying down, which is pretty common for people. Or it can happen if I haven't been eating enough and feel light-headed. I'm not sure if this is what's happening to you though.

I wonder if the lights you're seeing are a result of having vision that is extra sensitive to light changes. My eyes are like that. Like, when people stare at an object for a long time then look away, the image will still be there? That happens to me fairly often without staring at something for very long.

You can sometime see things that are in fact energy. You can develop what is possibly called 'aura sense' or 'energy sense' or maybe we can make up some cool name like ultra awesome vision. Basically it is just another sense and we may interpret it as a visual experience. It is not literally a visual thing, but the brain processes it and get confused so it tries to represent the input with something it is familiar with.

Sounds confusing. Sorry, but basically some of what you see may be because of this other sense. However, much of it can be explained with physical things like the after images of looking at a light source.

Although I'd love to be in the same boat as sivason, I believe this is not a case of energy sensing. I know it is possible for people to spontaneously develop it, but someone who's never tried energy manipulation or simple magick and doesn't think much of them is very unlikely to experience something like this. I think DreamWolfHouse is experiencing one of the side-effects of developing strong visualization: sometimes you see stuff that isn't there.

Don't take this the wrong way though. You may actually be developing another sense. I'd suggest reading over articles which deal with this(look up the psi pog archive and the /r/energy_manipulation and /r/energy_work subreddits). Decide for yourself whether you truly believe in this or not. Belief is a tool, if you do not truly believe in energy then, at least for you, it will not exist.

Speak to a doctor before asking people on the internet, especially on a forum full of folks who claim to have psychic abilities.

Yeah, my retina detached and I went permanently blind in one eye after seeing light flashes. Speak to an ophthalmologist.

I'm a level 16 ascended visionist within the Church of Eye, with several years of training. What you are experiencing is typical of an apprentice (around level 3), and you should not be too worried. Your eyes won't fall out until level 6, but at that point they are not needed anymore.

I had some similar experiences: mine looked like an arc of feathery, lightly twinkling lights in my peripheral vision, that gradually moved out my line of vision completely. It's happened a few times, and only once did I get temporary paralysis. Turned out to be "ocular migraines." The women in my family get them, and they are triggered hormonally, and seemingly harmless (except for the paralysis part wow). My mom and grandma would get headaches with them, but I didn't. And my neurologist said that the paralysis part was really really rare and probably wouldn't happen to me again, and if it did, it would be temporary again (around 30 min for me).

Still, it's usually a good idea to see a neurologist anytime you see something that isn't there. Or your eye doctor or both. Just in case it's NOT a supernatural phenomenon
