I was about to, but smoking it out of a joint would be bad for my lungs plus my parents would smell it. A vaporizer would be less harmful and barely leave a scent and I thought it'd be interesting to do it occasionally but a vaporizer is expensive, so nope I haven't Too bad though. I would love to once in a while have an enhanced appreciation of music : )

Smoking weed doesn't really effect your lungs that much actually. There was a study that recorded some people who had to smoke at least 1 joint a day (some of obviously smoked more) and the study lasted for 20 years. At the end of it they find no change in lungs their exhale time was the same as well some even increased. Nick Diaz who was the best stamina in the UFC is known to smoke and grow a lot of weed. The only bad thing in weed is the plant matter not the crystal THC that gets you high and plus you can always use dabs or hash which is pretty much pure THC. and it's stronger and last you longer just make sure you know it's from a regulated dispensary not some shady dealer making it.

How can smoking a joint a day for 20 years not affect their lungs? Aren't they still inhaling smoke that's produced by burnt stuff? I thought that a vaporizer is less harmful than joints because you inhale pure THC, but it's still not good for your lungs, plus obviously you can become addicted. Here in The Netherlands it's legal so I don't have to worry about shady dealers

I read from many places that weed if smoked regularly makes you really lazy and not feel like doing anything, which makes me want to stay away from it. I think I am likely to get addicted to it, because I have a hard time weighing long term harms consequences against short term benefits. Do you have any difficulty not getting addicted? I ate magic mushrooms and it's really cool and I can't imagine becoming addicted to them due to the duration of the trip and the nature of the trip: you really need to be in a good mood and stable state of mind if you don't want your trip to go horribly wrong, which makes it impossible to be like a drug you take when you feel bad, because then your bad state of mind will be intensified by A LOT. The reason I thought about weed is that the trip is shorter and much milder, but the lung damage and addicton risk make it a lot less appealing.

They didn't found change in lung function at all whats so ever and if it does affect how come Nick Diaz somehow still has the best stamina in the sport? The difference between weed and cigarettes is that weed is natural and cigarettes full of chemicals and a small amount of radiation which causes CANCER. People instantly think smoke causes it when it's really what's IN the smoke. Weed is less addictive and toxic then caffeine and you also have to consider you get no withdrawal symptoms at all. You sounded very ignorant when you said it could make you lazy when one of the most successful people smoke weed. Bill Gates,Steve Jobs,Barack Obama and Arnold Schwarzenegger all smoked weed and you call that lazy? No I don't think so. The head of the UFC said on statistic 84% of the UFC fighters smoke weed including Jon Jones the best fighter of all time. I don't see how it's affecting their life. I see people say things like "weed can kill you" then 2 hours later they overdosed on alcohol while weed in it's 5000 years of use has never had a recorded death while 4,400 people in China die everyday of air pollution and that says a lot.

I said "regularly". And I didn't say "once you take a single hit of weed you become a couch potato and you become so lazy that you don't even want to go to the toilet and you will drown in your own feces". I just said that I read on many forums that it tends to make you lazy if smoked regularly. And I hope you don't take it personally, but I'll do research on why smoking tobacco is bad and the difference between tobacco and weed and hash, I can't take a random person on his word about something that contradicts my own belief.

So if you smoke a joint a day, do you not become lazier? I suppose not, but I'm going to ask anyway

Also, even a very small risk of addiction is not wise for me to take. I don't have a lot of self control/discipline.

I say the closest you could have with weed is how you are addicted to games, food and sex It's not gunna ruin your life. Look up Nick Diaz he's a definition of a stoner but he can kick your and my ass at the same time and do it all day and he's still at the top level and Jon Jones is a good example as well and he's the best champion of all time. If it made him lazy he would of never been able to stay in the UFC that long. It really doesn't make you lazy it's the person the who chooses to be. If a a teenager was failing school anyways and he just started smoking weed and he left school with no qualifications after that. Guess what he was gunna be a loser anyways with or without weed.

I don't smoke because I notice a difference in my lung capacity when doing any sort of cardio. Plus it tastes horrible (comparatively) and hurts my throat. Nowadays you can get high quality vaporizers for around $150, and that's a worthwhile investment as far as I'm concerned.

There are plenty of stoners out there that exemplify the lazy bum stereotype. And they usually get the spotlight because the more professional users are... well, being more professional. Most employers will fire you for marijuana use, so it's hard to be responsible as well as being a marijuana advocate.

It is very true that certain strains will give you severe couch-lock and kill any motivation you had for the day. But if you choose to wake up and smoke some of that stuff first thing in the morning, it's your decision making that erred, not the drug itself.

Really? Because I was smoking at quite a young age and I came 1st in the county for 1500m and mind you I was the youngest and the rest were 16 years old. I also don't have the ideal physqiue for a long distance runner either I'm very tall and have quite bit of weight mainly lean mass not much fat while a ideal physqiue like Mo Farah is short and skinny. I came second in the year before that and it was before I smoked weed. I say it's more of a mental thing people thinking weed is the problem because I don't even see a difference in my cardio. Loads of people blame their problems on weed sometimes very stupid reason. I knew a girl who smoked weed and one day she got really drunk and started acting like a idiot in front of everyone. She then says "I'm not smoking weed because of last night" and just to tell you she didn't smoke weed when she was drunk not even joking so I told her that and she said "I think using weed a lot affected me to do that" when really she was just really drunk even started vomited as well. That's like saying "I always get bad diarrhea from spicy food I think I'll stop doing yoga" it's basically what she's doing blaming it when it had nothing to do with it

Regardless of your cited study or personal experience, I notice a difference. And note I simply said I don't smoke, so I don't see how it's a 'mental thing.'

Well if you read the last lines of that girl I was on about that's what I mean. People blame things that has nothing to do with it like how she blamed weed for her drunk behaviors when there was no weed in that party. People over think and then comes to conclusion that weed did it you know because of all the lies like PSA's saying things like it will kill you and you will get lung cancer (this has been debunked a million times) when quite a lot of it is propaganda and over exaggeration. Just watch the documentary The Union to know the full story about it. You can't really know for sure if it affected your cardio until you time yourself and I bet the results will be very similar but what ever floats your boat.

Best cardio in the sport and former strikeforce champion.

When I was smoking heavily (years ago) my lung function was extremely impaired. I was using a bong, smoking from morning to night for about 6 months straight. I've always lived a very active lifestyle- before, during, and after my smoking phases (there were actually several phases, a year or two on, a few off, several times during my young adult life), so it was easy to compare my bodily functions without smoking, while smoking a moderate amount, and while smoking heavily. I was playing competitive volleyball during my last "on" phase, and I would always smoke right before playing. I would loose my breath very easily and my recovery time was also impaired. My lung function improved dramatically almost immediately after stopping. Anyone who doubts this, get high and go for a three-mile run, then stop smoking for two weeks and then go for another three-mile run. The difference should be apparent. I also used to work out high, so I've had more than enough experience of what it does to lung function.

I also had other smoker-related symptoms like coughing throughout the day and excessive phlegm. Weed smoke produces resin, and while the lungs can filter a lot of it, there is a limit to this.

You smoked before completion when I'm on about going into it sober but smoke regularly in your spare time. It's not the best thing to do like how you don't drink when your studying but some might do this. Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps both multi gold medalist both smoke weed especially Phelps he does it a lot plenty of pictures of him smoking out of bongs but they don't smoke a joint before training but only in moderation in their spare time. My cardio is really good and I don't train for long distance running but I can run a mile in round about 6 minutes(can't remember specifically) when I was 16 when I was smoking a lot only weed no tobacco or e cigs didn't drink either. I haven't timed it since but I do have a very good resume in muay thai/kickboxing and boxing I can easily last a full fight and keep a constant pace and not slow down in the final round.

When I was running cross country in high school I would always suffer (unable to catch my breath fully, chest/lung pain) if I had smoked the previous day or two before (I never smoked before running back then). This was when I was only smoking several times per week. Do you have evidence that Phelps smokes "a lot of weed?" I recall him stating that his behavior was regrettable and he used bad judgement when he smoked that one time and was photographed. Doesn't sound much like an admission of regular use to me.

Even though he still denies a lot of that I still don'ty take his word for it. Nick Diaz for sure does smoke weed everyone in the MMA community knows that he even got caught 3 times in the fight days drug test 1 in pride and 2 in the UFC. He also has the best cardio in the sport better than cain velasquez in my opinion but the guy pretty much chain smokes joints and gets caught for it. Jon Jones UFC champion smokes weed even though he's two faced as fuck he does a lot of bad shit then tries to act nice and sorry then a week later he cheats on his wife and crashes his bentley so if he ever denies that ounce in his car and said he "quit" don't believe him. Jon Jones does make the sport look bad though but I do give him probs for being undefeated and best P4P of all time...well he will be when he retires for sure.

I'm sure the effects are minimal when used in extreme moderation, perhaps even unnoticeable. That's not to say that performance would be even better in these individuals you've mentioned if they did not smoke at all. I simply spoke up because the claim that marijuana use has absolutely no negative health impact flies directly in the face of my own experience. Such statements cannot be generalized in such a way and be accurate.

I enjoy smoking pot, the last little while I've been smoking quite a bit less than I normally do, but I just got back together with my ex recently and he never smoked at all the first time we were together and now he's just getting into it so he's at that early smoke as much as possible stage, he's testing my tolerance haha it's been fun getting highschool stoned again

Weed is a fun, safe way to have fun in a controlled location.

But i would advise being careful. I smoked daily for 3 years. I smoked anywhere from once, to multiple times a day. Occasionally i would miss a day of smoking but that was rare. During that time I wouldn't say i became "lazy". If anything I would say I became content.

I lost ambition toward improving myself and becoming the best possible version of myself. I went for good enough, and stopped caring about things i once cared about. After probably a year or year and a half I got to the point where I was dependent on weed to be happy and to feel emotions. When I wasn't high I was grumpy, food was less tasty, music didn't incite emotional response, life was dry without it.

I finally quit about a month ago and it wasn't easy. I'm not about to say that weed gives withdrawl symptoms, or anything like that. But I wasn't myself for quite a while. Another big problem with habitual pot-headedness is the lack of REM sleep. Weed is proven to greatly decrease REM sleep when smoked. Before I started smoking I was obsessed with dreaming and lucidity. I had started having regular lucid dreams and great recall, but that all ended when I became a stoner. I feel like I can finally get back on track now. Especially since all my friends are gone now that I don't smoke. I quickly discovered the only thing holding our friendships together was the act of smoking lol so anyways I have a lot of time on my hands now.

As far as health effects, in all my time smoking I stayed relatively physically active and never noticed any physical effects. I definitely was tired more, but never felt a difference in lung capacity or anything like that.

Some of my best memories are of smoking with friends though so I won't completely put it down, just stay self aware and make sure it doesn't ever control you peace

No offense but weed doesn't make people lazy it's the person that chooses to be and blames weed for it. When I see these "stoner losers" in real life before they smoked weed they were still losers and guess what happened when they did started to smoke weed? Well they were still losers with and without it. Look at the most successful people and athletes that smoke weed and some still do and their life has went down hill. I know some people who have amazing jobs who a big time smokers and you can even get to talk to them on my live streams.

I think everyone's different. I never said it made me lazy though. I still worked, I still went to school, I just felt content with good enough. Now that I'm staying sober I see a noticeable difference in my ambition. I know people who became heavy smokers and they ended up dropping out of school. I also know people who smoke constantly, work full time and go to school fulltime with all A's. Everyone's different, just always stay self aware so you don't waste your potential

'Merica. This doesn't happen anywhere else unless you're around heavy machinery. Even doctors don't get drug tested in most countries.

Also it's true that weed does not impair lung function, and there's no evidence it causes cancer.
Tobacco is bad because it's a bronchoconstrictor and paralyses the cilia (which clean your lungs). All that cancer causing tar stays in your lungs.
Weed is a bronchodilator and doesn't paralyse the cilia. The tar doesn't stay in your lungs, and the tar from weed is less harmful than tobacco tar anyway.

I'm pretty sure they did a lung function test on Snoop Dogg a while ago and it was completely normal, and he's basically the heaviest smoker there is.

Anyway.... I smoke occasionally. Try not to get too high, just enough to relax and feel a bit of that body numbness. It's nice and better than alcohol.
And a little bit doesn't really seem to affect dreams.

Yeah, and at first I blamed it for this (lucid) nightmare I just had:

I had a friend over at my house, and we were drinking energy drinks (right before sleeping) and playing on my PC as normal teens do, then I told him I was going to sleep.

I quickly realise that something is wrong when I begin to not have any idea where I am, and I remember saying at the beginning of the dream (fake name) "Dave, if I'm tripping wake me up, if I'm tripping wake me up..." Repeating this for a few seconds, then I 'wake up' at my moms house, (I was sleeping at my dads house) walking towards the bathroom and trying to drink from the tap, but was physically un able to. I was in a seriously intense, uncomfortable state, and as I looked around the bathroom I saw a friend of mine from school, (fake name) Daisy, sitting in my bath tub saying nothing, unconscious... I then found myself walking into a seemingly abandoned building with many doors surrounding me, and I couldn't find my way out, I felt pressured, like someone was in there trying to find me, I opened a door and saw light, I was genuinely scared at this point and wanted the LD to stop, I saw lots of cans around/in the bath tub such as monster and rockstar cans, of which I had drank before going to sleep, and then my mum walked in to the bathroom in a sleep walking kind of state, trying to put my cat in the bath tub.

Needless to say I woke up pretty mind f****d, and kinda scared, so I looked up bad LD's and I found this, so thanks drew views for expanding my knowledge of LD's. That was my first ever LD and I am kinda hesitant to try it again (I'm sure I will though )

Maybe I don't have a huge experience with weed but I really like it. Also - don't know why it's illegal in many countries. I'm not addicted of anything and I don't really believe in addiction at all. It's just a choice that you keep doing something. I didn't read all posts so maybe someone wrote that but it's important that there are 2 types of weed (sativa and indica) which have different effects. Also - people are different. I see that weed increases personality, not changing it. Like TioW42 was writing, if someone is lazy and stupid then he'll be lazy, stupid and high. It's not a magic dust. For me that plant is fascinating. Worth to explore. Senses are more strong - vision is clear, colors are beautiful, taste is awesome, touch has a new dimension etc. The creativity is increased. And you are just happy, stress is gone, you don't care about things what people say about you. Next thing: everything is ok if you don't do this too often. Like couple times in a day - why is that even for? The effect is much weakened. And it's not an everyday condition. Just a relax time. Only point in smoking weed few times in a day is when you have some ilness and it's just your medication. Only minuses that I see is a smell (it's too intensive for me), that it's illigal and... well, that's it.
