      My father passed away tonight.

      R.I.P. Gregory Alan White 1961 - 2005

I love you, Dad. We've had our differences, but we both knew how much we loved each other. And though you death was unexpected, I can only thank God that you went peacefully, in your sleep.

I love you, and I promise to look after mom in your absence.

      Your Son.

Dude, that's really heavy stuff, I'm sorry to hear that. You seem to be taking it ok, but what can I figure out from a few text messages?

My dad has had several instances of being close to death, I was worried under my skin. But you're being tough. Dunno how you're exactly feelin, but I hope I can relate well enough.

There are no words comforting or nice enough to make up even the smallest bit of pain you have when you lose somebody so dear..

I'm terribly sorry =( What I do think though..and I don't know why because I dont know him or you, but you make/will make him proud..

Good luck to you and your family, I hope you will be able to deal with the loss together, being there for one another.

      Take care.

Sorry to hear that, I know I dont know you but still its hard to lose someone close. Its at least good to find some solice in good friends, family, and the fact that no energy just disappears.

      Thank you, all of you.

Both my mother and I are trying to handle it as well as we can. My moms a strong woman, and we are pretty understanding of how the world works, so all we can do is just try to be strong, you know? It all still seems so unreal, but at the same time, you have to be able to keep the perception that it is real, and learn how to adapt. Well, I'm not feeling a real abundance of words right now, so I'll just say thank you, to all, again, and I appreciate your condolences.

Man, I am so sorry to hear that. He was really quite young, too young.....

There is nothing I can really say to ease the pain, only time can do that. You will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Just a note that you're in my thoughts and [comfort]!

I don't want to hear about the brain from someone that doesn't have one.
Nor do I want to hear about evolution from someone that hasn't evolved.

I know I'm shitty for doing this, but I've been avoiding this thread for a while... I lost my grandparents a few years ago and that was hard to deal with. I really don't know what to say in situations like this.

So I'll say this for now:

I'm so sorry for your loss and I wish you and yours the best.

      Thank you, both, as well.

And Lost Soul, my condolences to you as well for the loss of your grandparents. And I don't blame you for avoiding the thread. I understand completely how you must have felt, but I'm thankful you decided to reply, so, Thank you once again.

Thanks, but don't grieve for him. We are doing the best that we can to remain positive about it, and focus more on the good times than mourning his passing. We believe my dad wouldn't have wanted us to let our grief overpower our love for him. So keep us in your thoughts, but don't grieve for us. Thanks again, man.

      Hey Oneironaut,

Everyone loses someone close to their heart at one poing in their life or another. Not knowing you, your father or the relationship between you two, I find myself with little to offer beyond condolences.

However, I have lost someone myself - and in the years following I have learned the following: That our lives can be divided into chapters like that in a book. While this may be the closing of one chapter, another follows. No matter where the story continues, the story would not be at all the same without its preceeding chapter nor would the rest make sense. It's simply a necessary step in moving forward.

Best wishes to you and your family.

That was a moving post. Every person you love in a different way. So I can not really understand the full extent of your loss here, But I can understand what it has been like for me to loose someone I really loved when I was young. Incredibly painful. Crying every night painful. Without that experience I would not have been as able to relate to anyone elses grief.

Seeing so many people support you in your suffering with a real desire for full compassion, and to help you. Is also moving. I imagine it would be something if we were all this close and the world had this attitude in general all the time.

That really sucks, Oneironaut. I'm sorry to hear about it.

You said that you and your father had your differences. The only fathers and sons who don't are the ones who don't really know each other. With closeness comes conflict, unfortunately.

You are dealing with something very rough right now, but you will end up adapting and moving on. Your father lives on eternally in the past, a metaphysical reality, and he will live on in your memories. I wish you the best.

Please dont' take this in an offensive way at all... I'm a truly sorry for your loss, I couldn't even imagine if I lost one of my parents. But why did you have to post that notice in DV? Do people here know him? Are you just looking for some support? please dont' take this in a negetive way, i am completely just curious to why you felt the need to post that in an internet discussion board... Do you really believe people here care? (I know they do, I do even.. and please I do wish people to tell you they care, I just want to know your motives behind that, because it's fascinating)
