Oculus rift and virtual reality
I am finding it hard to understand why these devices are so popular, and what people actually expect to achieve by putting a box over their eyes?
Now I'm semi joking-these VR devices are pretty nifty tech, but they are so limiting that calling them a virtual reality device is like calling a goat a car. I mean the goat can technically get you to where you want to go, but its really not in the same league at all. These headsets are not virtual reality.
But whatever-they obviously show that people crave to be immersed in these fantasy worlds. You hear it all the time from gamers (I am one myself). IMMERSION! They're willing to buy extremely expensive machines to power their goggles, but I wonder what they would do if they realised that they could actually go to those worlds that they like so much. They could go to Skyrim or try and give that asshole Trevor (GTA 5) a kick in the ass (I did that-not recommended at all), and it would be like an actual virtual reality.
I understand that lucid dreaming takes time and effort, especially if you use WILD like me, but I think its so worth it, that I'm flabbergasted people would want to use these devices when the real thing is available for free.
Do you guys think if LD was more well known, then no one would want to use these devices? Or do you think that most people wouldn't be bothered with the admittedly steep learning curve?
