Hey there, folks! Meggyfayephotography here! Well, I'm all grown up now, so you can just call me Meg. I'm not much into photography these days. I am, however, a writer.

My recall is still really good, with the exception of last night. As I've gotten older, I've had fewer lucid dreams (has been years since I remember feeling lucid in a dream), but a lot more intense, emotional, and realistic dreams. I had a random urge to check this site out again, and my login info still worked! I used to post here very rarely back in the day, but it was when I was 13 years old, so it's all incredibly embarrassing. I remember the names Oneironaut, and OpheliaBlue I think? Do those ring any bells for anyone? It's wild to see that this site is still up and running. Does anyone know who started it, and who still maintains it? I'm glad it is still around, it just feels like a slice of the internet from such a different time.

ran into some astral projection tiktoks and joined their discord and told them about a lucid dream tutorial I learned from on here and it got me missing this place. Finally found my login :D
I've been active on DV again this past year or so after 8 or 9 years away. Don't know if anyone recognizes me from the old days since I didn't post a ton back then.

You know you're a DV OG, if you can remember the dehumanizing (albeit brief) DV Playpen forum. I think MoS got rid of it. Due to COPPA laws, if staff found out you were underage while accessing the forum as a member, your forum access was heavily restricted. How restricted? Whenever you would try to access DV again, the ONLY forum you'd see would be the "DV Playpen". The explanation is in the title.

I remember that all too well. Somehow I managed to avoid the playpen during that era. I was constantly so paranoid about getting caught, I did everything I could to seem older. At the time, I think the lowest age you could join was 15. Maybe 16. Then once I finally hit that age I was invited to join Mortal Mist, whose age requirement was even older! So I just never told anyone.
Are there any current users here from 20 years ago? joined around the 2003-2004 time period.

I joined when I was 14 years old. I still think of the old members from way back in the mid 2000's from time to time, and think about what they're up to. I don't really try to lucid dream anymore, though it spontaneously happens from time to time. I eventually became a language nerd, I learned a lot of Spanish and not nearly as much Japanese as I'd like after so long. Being a kid your world view is more simple and I thought for sure lucid dreaming could give me everything I wanted in life but I learned it's not that simple eventually.
It's interesting to see the different "generations" reach their peaks on DV. My peak years were 2013-2016, and the cast of active characters were different. It seems most have faded away. I'm coming back to dreaming in a big way this time, and I hope to maintain it throughout all of life's various roller coasters!
It was quite an active period on DV back when I (and FryingMan) joined, and I was also very gung-ho about lucid dreaming at the time. It has never really gone away for me, but I don't dream lucidly as often as during those same years FryingMan peaked. So far this year I have had five lucids, and a (well, probably the) reason for the less frequent lucid dreaming is that it feels less necessary than it used to. Ordinary dreaming works well for me (as long as I remember these dreams, which is not the case every night). I took up remote viewing, which is done while wide awake, and that has taken some focus away from lucid dreaming. Also, most recently, I have taken up "seeing without eyes", which at this point for me means seeing through a completely tight fitting sleep mask (the results so far are quite interesting); this also takes focus away from lucid dreaming.
My thinking is that being here in this world presents a cornucopia of possibilities for personal development, and what's not to like? :)
