      Habanero Peppers

Yeah, so last night at work, we were all done early and bored as usual.. Ben comes over and he's like "yo you wanna eat a pepper" I'm like yeah dude he's like "it's a habanero" and I'm like ok..

so we're all back in produce and I take a bite of half.. chewing.. turn around.. swallow.. take the other half to my audiences amusement.. chew chew chew.. but spit it out because I figure what's the point..

"it's gotta be a dud" I say, kidding.. it takes about a minute for it to fully hit me..

it was yes, hot in my mouth, but not as bad as I thought it would be.

They gave me a lime to suck on..

But my face started feeling flushed, my eyes started to water, I started to convulse/shake.. and my body eventually went entirely numb. Like honestly, numb/throbbing/rolling rain buzz all over. I was perplexed and scared. I started grabbing handfuls of ice and eating them slowly.. eventually, about 10 minutes later, I was alright again.

Now, I looked into it a bit. So ok, hot peppers can cause numbness. wow. sweet.

I wanna do it again. Maybe two. Despite the burning.. it's bearable..

One time I had the great misfortune to accidentally crunch down on one of those peppers that come with Chinese food take-out. Yah, I was panicking! I'd just finished my last soda and so I had to open a new can and even that didn't help. I tried eating chocolate (which is supposed to tone down the spicyness), didn't help. I tried eating rice, didn't help. Ugh! It was funny, but at the same time I know I've never eaten anything as spicy as that, and I like spicy food!

So yes, I feel your pain, even if I wasn't convulsing. I was coughing, sputtering, and getting a headache though.

I've done that, heh. When I was young and I ate chinese, I thought "what the fuck is happening" but never asked. I know a sure fire way to cool it down though- yoghurt. If you eat yoghurt the spiceyness goes. I learnt that when I ate a stupid chillie thingy once.

I'm Mexican...I'm genetically engineered by nature to be able to take them
      If I hadn't made me
I'd be more inclined to bow
Powers that be would have swallowed me up
But that's more than I can allow...

Ever been cooking with chillies, then unconsciously rubbed your eye or scratched your nose?

Before i knew chillies had that effect, i did that. Eye started burning, so i rubbed it more. It was a viscious circle, i just kept rubbing and as it got more painful, rubbed my eye more.

My eye was extremely red that day.

wow... one would think you'd learn after the first time and go rub water into it right away

I think I've eaten way too many of them, they don't really matter to me that much any more, I can take them. As for rubbing your eye, I know what you mean, so bloody painful.

Well, that was stupid. It's like "OH LOOK MY HAND IS COVERED IN ACID. I SHOULD RUB MY EYE WITH IT."

hahaha... very true. every time i go to king taco, it takes me about an hour to finish my burrito when they put the red sauce in there... but damn, it hurts so goooooodddddd....

i remember once when i was a kid, i was a my best friends house. he dared me to eat this tiny little round pepper. i thought that little thing wasn't that tough, 'cause my friend was just popping them into his mouth. that's when i finally figured it out. argentinians/italians are not genetically engineered for that stuff. i've adapted to an extent, but i'll never be in that elite league. :(

my eyes where watering, i had the moco loco thing going, and nothing could stop the fire burning inside my mouth.

personally, i'm partial to crushed red pepper. i pretty much throw that on anything i cook that involves a tomato.
