The manga is better. X the movie sucked, in my opinion. It left out a lot. I didn't think it was worth buying.

I recommend Serial Experiments: Lain or anything by Hayao Miyazaki (Mononoke Hime and Spirited Away are two of my favorites). I started to watch .hack//sign as well, but never finished it. What I saw was cool, though.

      Edit: Cowboy Bebop also rules.

I thought X was kinda cheez too..

      Ditto Lost soul.

      Also Trigun!
      Escaflowne
      El Hazard
      Inuyasha

Mononoke Hime and Spirited away are my favs too...

Ooo Ghost in the shell is also another good one.

I have to disagree with you, Seri. I didn't think that Ghost in the Shell was as great as it's usually hyped to be. Then again, I'm not a big Shirow fan. I lump GitS with the likes of Uroksukidoji ("Legend of the Overfiend"), Ninja Scroll, and Fist of the North Star. The movies were ok, but those three movies are usually the first piece of anime that anyone ever really sees, other than Akira (which was a fucking masterpiece as far as animation goes). The Japanese version of GitS was pretty ok, but I'm sort of a purest when it comes to anime. 90% of the time, I can't stomach the shitty english voice acting.

How the hell did I forget Tenkuu no Escaflowne?!? That was a good series. El Hazard, too. Inu-Yasha wasn't bad, but I haven't seen a lot of it. Ooh, and I forgot to mention that revamped (lol, no pun intended) D movie. Who doesn't love a hot, animated half-vampire in tight leather?

I've never seen Trigun so I can't comment on that one. I've heard good things about it, though.

I bought X the other day. I thought it wasn't too bad, but i've seen better. Just today I bought Spriggan, and yesterday i bought the two Neon Genesis Evangelion movies, I also bought Akira but haven't gotten around to watching them yet. I've seen Akira before but haven't gotten around to using the shiny new DVD yet.

I saw the Comic book version of Akira for sale on E-Bay or something once and it had two volumes and each was as thick as a phone book (I'm talkin' yellow pages thick)
These are the tears that I dream about...

And just think: there's, like, ten of those.

I said I liked ghost in the shell.. it is in no way on the same par as mononoke hime or spirited away.. shoulda differentiated that.

Akira was cool as shit too.

And yeah the new Vampire huinter D rocks the house!, its even in dolby surround!

As for inuyasha I am getting the watered down cartoon network version =/ which sucks the ballz but I gots no monies to be getting any new shiney DVD's

Ok ok ... even though its on its own little planet, I think we are forgetting

Dragon Ball its cheezy goofy and spastic... they talk for hours before they fight and you know they are gona fight, they arent gona resolve it by talking.. but its still great heeh.

Yea X the movie was OK, they did leave stuff out. I recommend the Anime X, it's still my all time favorite Anime. The ending touched me.

Inuyasha is good to, but don't bother watching it if you want to see the whole thing. They only dubbed about 50 or so episodes and there's 130+ so far. I stopped at 120 something. And if you do watch that, enjoy the many filler episodes you'll be seeing.

S-Cry-Ed is good to, it's gets a little confusing, but still good. It's like a japanese version of the X-men

Trigun is good if you like guns and blow stuff up

.hack//sign is OK In my opinion. The music was incredible, but it gets pretty confusing also and the story doesn't develop until like episode 17 out of 26

      Cowboy Bebop is also good

Furi Kuri/Fooly Cooly-This anime is CRAZY! there are only 6 episodes. If you like randomness and things that don't make sense, then this is what you want

If you want Anime that has no violence/action then Fruits Basket and Onegai twins are good to.
