      What's your blood type?

Anyway, I have never seen this thread on any forum, so I thought it would be an interesting topic. What blood type do you possess?

      Mine is type O negative.....

A positive - looks like a lot of people have this blood type (easy to get transfusions, I guess!)

I don't know... I'll probably never bother to find out unless I need someone else's.

My donor card says "Type O hero"... so O+ I also come from a mixed-blood family, in that my dad is O and my mom is... I think A+ or B+... my grandma was AB-, though, so when she had leukemia it was hard to find blood for her.

I haven't donated in a long time. I just have been busy when they schedule the events. I almost blacked out last time, though, because it took a while for the nurses to actually get me started, so all of my lunch had been digested. My hearing started to sound muffled and my vision was going black so I thought it would be prudent to call out, "Um, I think I'm going to pass out." I did see a girl faint from it, once, but she was only... 15, I think. Stupid under-age-er.

I know what you mean, Ame. Both times I have given blood, those things have happened exactly as you described them. Low blood pressure might contribute to that. I never blacked out, because as you did, I told someone I was going to pass out. Anyway, isn't it neat that we are both Type O and we both almost passes out.

heh, I've never passed out, but I did get dizzie once or twice like half an hour later and very tired. Low pressure does add to passing out, my ex had that happen twice

I'm the same way. I don't mind seeing other people's blood, but if I see my own I'm going down for the count. I bit through my tongue once when that happened.

Type 'O' blood is the universal donor. Well, actually O-; O+ can still be used in anyone provided they are Rh+.

my grandma was AB-, though, so when she had leukemia it was hard to find blood for her.[/b]
that's very odd because AB is the universal acceptor. actually, AB- would limit it a little (meaning only other Rh- blood could be used) but A- and B- are not that uncommon. In fact, I'm A-. O- could also be used for someone with AB- blood.

Hmm, that is a little odd. I know that they will try to match up types as closely as possible. I wonder if there were other factors going on there?

Anyway, my wife is AB+, and as you can imagine, the Red Cross isn't exactly beating down our door to get her blood =P

      I'm O+ myself.

Well, actually the first time I gave blood (ha, I first typed "blook") I became very sick. You know how they tell you to drink a lot of water and don't exert yourself? Well, I had to walk up a hill because my ex-friend's ex-b/f's car was crappy and wouldn't make it up the hill. It wasn't a long walk, but still. And then I drank soda and juice, but not water. I have never felt so sick in my entire life! That's the only time where I've felt dizzy sitting down.

... not to mention I had an interview at Wal-Mart the day after I stopped throwing up (which was only one day, but still) so I was still feeling sick. They had me fill out this questionaire about stuff like stealing and marajuana, etc. Not in my right mind I filled in answers that I thought made sense. I went back the next day and saw my answers and was like "What have I done?"

      They didn't call me back.
