America's voting system is a political monopoly anyways... Other than the whigs, has there been any president other than democrat or republican? The reason is is that people are too damn lazy to actually try to FIND A GOOD CANDIDATE. They vote for the easiest thing, one side or the other. But, I detest the whole party system altogether.
The best president in our history was the first... No income taxes, we weren't invading countries, no parties, and as many guns as we wanted! You suck modern America.
Um... didn't we invade America to begin with? And, oh yeah! We killed nearly all the Indians with all those guns! Good times, then.Quote:

Oh, and I'm not ripping into anyone except for Bush himself. I don't have any problems with his supporters because they're just misguided. :-P No, seriously though, everyone has an opinion and they're entitled to it. Who am I to tell you what to think?
Dammit, you guys are reminding me of the best childhood game:
COWBOYS and INDIANS!
Nah, the best childhood game was Witches..
We made up that game, but it is basically like massive tag.
See we had this classmate that looked like a witch when she took off her glasses, so we ran away from her everytime she did. We then decided that everyone she touched would become a witch him or herself. So she would chase people around all during lunch time, and then when she touched somebody they would become a witch and chase people too. At the end of each recess there were only like two or three people who weren't witches, which would make it all the more harder. I was generally among these, because I used to rock when I was a kid.
It's kind of cruel now that I think of it, but who cares....
Anyway, I am sure that none of you care about this so I'll stop.
Wow... I didn't know being a witch was contagious! Damn, guys. You'd all better stay away from me or I'll infect you all with my witch cooties! :-P
**Raises hand in the air and shakes wildley**
"Me first, Me first I want cooties!" :goodjob2:

You have the one's where you are the one that has to run away from people who are chasing you... :ohyahbaby:
I;m back. Been on vacation for the past few weeks. Well...with everyone raggin' on George Dubya Bush, maybe we should consider some things. When Clinton was in office, we had constant 'problems' with armed militias. Clinton was paraniod about these guys..these guys who had a right to operate an organized militia. Clinton was scared of them and tried to do everything he could do to get rid of them. They were no threat to the people...just a threat to the government. Thomas Jefferson maintained that government must be controlled by the people..not the other way around, and when government gets out of control, the people need to take control one way or another. Since Bush has been in office, there have been no 'problems' with these militias. If Clinton had his way the public would be totally stripped of their guns, making us a totally defensless people. Someday, the public may need to turn on the government. I hope that never has to happen, but someday it may. Also, if Clinton was so wonderful, why were there so many groups in so many states begining to push to succede? There was a big movement forming in Texas to return to an independant republic. I went to some of the meetings out of curiosity. If Gore had been elected, there would not be 50 states in the U.S. now. This Kerry character scares the hell out of me. Notice all the radical anti-government sentiment is gone now that Bush is in office. No states wanna leave the union. No militias wanna go to war with Washington. I dunno were the democrats dig up some of these guys. Remember Ross Perot? Remember when he bailed out of the presidential race. Perot's wife heard they may be living in the White House, and she bitched cuz she didn't want to be in a smaller house in an all black neighbourhood! I'm off my soap-box now!Quote:

republicans are in no position to be throwing around names. -- every president has had his critics. -- if you must know; economically, i'm republican but as for things like abortion, religion, and civil liberties go i'm very liberal. i see both sides as being very flawed, i see both sides as having shitty representatives. both sides are incessantly bashing each other, but not gaining ground. both sides are stagnant. our government needs a change from these feuding children. we need a political revolution to get the wheels turning again. the last thing we need is a vengeful president with his own petty convictions that cost us the lives of our soldiers. bush is a blemish on our nation; economically, with his spend more and tax less BS, and socially, with his attacks on foreign nations that pose no more of a threat to our country than anyone else. he's wasteful and poorly represented... his image has suffered because of his and his administration's mistakes.
*steps off of soap box*
I think there are to many different things going on anymore. No one is going to agree on everything with anyone else. Just have to pick the best person. Or you could always run for office yourself, of course you would have to start off lower down.
No way!Quote:

That's it! I'm running for president. Who wants to be my Vice-type person?
A few of my thoughts on the subject.
1.
Now just wait a second. How does "don't have a gun" equals "totally defenseless"? I think the whole gun-policy is a bit flawed: "The thiefs have guns so we must be allowed to have them, therefore the thiefs are also allowed to have them."Quote:

2.
How many percent of the population voted in the last election? Unless it has changed since i studied the US election system a few years ago it wasn't much. That's not good. If I'm not mistaking you have quite a lot of elections depending on which state you're in, thus people get tired of voting over and over again when they don't see any effects. (Most people are far from the power and might not keep up with the news of what the leaders are doing. This is the same in all countries.)
3.
Two parties? Now that's not much. I would guess many people just take "the lesser of two bad things" and vote for the partie that the disagree with the least, since there isn't any that they agree with fully.
4. Now this I'm very unsure of but doesn't the current president get a lot of extra money for the campain? If so, add in the fact that the election seems very commercialiced with adverticing and such and it would seem that the current president has a lot better chance to be re-elected than a ne one replacing him (or hopefully her in the future) regardless of how he/she has done his/her job. Does anyone have any statistics of this?

I can't vote for you Lost Soul but you have my full support.
I'll bake cookies and muffins for your campaign! And I'll make a sign that says * Beer not Bombs*
Wow...Okay this is getting a little tight now. Everyone rather Being Republic or Democrate has expressed some very positive views. We all know that no matter who takes office there will utimately be a flaw somewhere. Not one of the Presidents ever ran this country where there was not one inkling of trouble to be known for what it is.. We vote for who can surpress the problems at that time which seems so convient at that given moment. Where other issues not in the spot light or hasn't exactly presented itself is unavoidable, but how do we fix it? Why do we come up short within any president that takes office. Yeah to speak on the Economy and how you're going to change it is great, because thats what the public needs now. But what about issues that has been surpressing our country for years that hasn't been focused on? I WANT SOME THINGS REVEALED.. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE HAS THE RIGHT TO KNOW.. SOILDERS ARE DYING EVERYDAY IN AFGANISTAN AND IN IRAQ, AND IT GETS VERY LITTLE MEDIA ATTENTION. THE AMERICAN PEOPLE NEEDS TO STAND UP AND SPEAK OF WHAT THEY WANT INSTEAD OF SETTLING FOR WHAT THE GOVERNMENT IS WILLING TO GIVE, WHICH IS VERY LITTLE. I WANT TO KNOW WHATS THE TRUE REASON FOR MT. WEATHER IN VIRGINIA.. WHY ARE THE'RE UNOCCUPPIED PRISIONS IN JACKSON FL, AND IN ALASKA WHEN YOU HEAR OF PRISION OVER CROWDINGS.. WHY ARE THE US. SUBS AND SOME RUSSIANS SUBS MEETING SOME FEW 1000 FEET UNDERWATER TO DISCUSS WHATEVER? AND IF WE CAPTURED ALL THAT DAMN OIL WHY ARE THE DAMN GAS PRICES REACHING OVER $2.00 A GAL. I DEMAND ANSWERS AND I DEMAND THEM NOW.. IM TIRED OF THESE SMOKE SCREEN TACTICS TO COVER UP REAL ISSUES THAT WE ARE SO FACED WITH EVERYDAY!!! WE NEED TO TAKE ACTION AS A PEOPLE BECAUSE OUR LIVES ARE IN THE HANDS OF ONE SIMPLE PERSON WHOEVER MAKES OFFICE. AND THAT PERSON WHOEVER IT WOULD BE IN NOV... IS UTIMATELY GAMBLING THIS COUNTRY JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER PRESIDENTS BEFORE HIM...
sorry just had to vent you guys...
Good idea! You can bake "special" cookies and muffins. That'll gain us some support. *wink wink nudge nudge*Quote:

How many pickets and protests actually get heard? They can stand in the cold all they want, but the president won't even give them the time of day. He won't listen. That's the problem with government. The word government means 'buy the people, fuck the people'.Quote:

The two things that the government needs are: a heart, and common sense.
