First of all, I’d like to ask people to please refrain from the “screw Valentine’s day” comments. No one wants to hear your emo.
That said, funny enough, I’m usually the type of person to quietly scoff at Valentine’s day. I don’t go out of my way to make it miserable for others, nor do I angst about it and paint scary, bloody pictures so everyone can see how black and torn my heart is. Nope. To me, Valentine’s day has been ‘just another day’ for quite a long time now. I wish people a happy holiday, but that’s about it. This year I painted something for Lucius and didn’t expect to get anything in return. The ‘holiday’ is nothing special to me, but if I had a boyfriend I suppose I would feel differently.
So, onto my story of why Lucius is my best friend and way better than a straight guy (because straight guys generally never think of this stuff). :P
First he made me breakfast. He does this a lot because he’s a big sweetheart like that, so while I squeaked at his sweetness, I also didn’t think too much of it as far as the day goes. We talked about our dreams as we usually do every morning and then we took breakfast into the livingroom, where he gave me a poem and a present, wrapped in red with a cute pink bow. I’m not going to share the poem with you guys because his poetry is something very personal and special to me. So I’ll get right to the present.
I unwrapped a grey bear with a blue nose and little patches on his body; arguably the cutest teddy bear in all of existence. No joke. This thing is so cute that grown men were going “Aww, that’s adorable!” in the store. I reiterate that this thing is probably the cutest stuffed animal in the world. This thing could stop wars because the soldiers on both sides would burst into tears and hug each other because of its sheer cuteness. I looked at him again and I’m pretty sure I just sprouted a cavity... Anyway, aside from its tear-jerking cuteness, it has a heartwarming little storybook that comes with it. You can read it right here if you want. There are a bunch of them (some holding hearts, some wearing cute little t-shirts, etc.) but mine is rather unique because, if I remember correctly, he was the only one like it in the store (which, by the way, had a virtual mountain of cuteness. I swear it wasn’t legal). My little bear is wearing a witch hat with a cloak.
I think I spent about an hour squeaking, “KAWAII!” in that special tone of voice that only purely delighted females can attain. You know what I mean. It’s the same sound that we make when we see a litter of fluffy kittens. It’s the sound that I’m pretty sure only dogs and small children can actually hear.
So that’s how Lucius made my nothing-special day a whole lot better. And all I did was draw him a crappy picture...
I should also mention that I lost a lot of 'seme points' with this gift.
So what did you guys do today? :)
