don't you just plug it in via the USB? You can then access the files in my computer, under 'removable storage' or use iTunes?
I used to have an ipod but I sold it and bought one of these

It's an Archos AV700- and it's a portable media player (MP3, MP4, pictures, etc.) I use it all the time, although it's so big I can't fit it in my pocket

I got mine for about $500/£300. I really can't fault it apart from the price (and perhaps screen resolution).

sorry, I should have been more precice. I had an ipod (shuffle) that went TOWARDS the cost of it. I've never really seen an ipod video up close, so I can't compare them.
As I said I can't fault it, but I can't compare it with anything else because this is my first media player. I think it's worth the money, and you can probably get it cheaper in the USA (why is everything cheaper over there? )
      It's got a 7 inch screen though

Here is are some reviews. I think they are quite just, if a little bit harsh.

Anyway, to this topic back on track, how do you get the music off the ipod? When I tried it on another computer, it deleted the songs insted of transfering them.

      :

ok what you have to do (since i assume you are running windows) 1. Double-click on the My Computer icon on the Desktop.

      2. Locate your iPod in the window that appears and select it.

      3. Choose Folder Options from the Tools menu in the My Computer window.

      4. Click the View tab in the Folder Options window that appears.

      5. Look for the Hidden Files and Folders entry. Below this entry enable the Show Hidden Files and Folders option and click Apply to reveal the hidden files.

      6. Dismiss the Folder Options windows by clicking the OK button.

      7. Double-click the iPod’s icon in the My Computer window.

8.8. Move to the Finder and double-click on the iPod’s icon on the Desktop.

You’ll discover that several more items now appear in the iPod window. Among them is a folder called iPod_Control.

      9. Double-click the iPod_Control folder.

Inside the iPod_Control folder you’ll find the Device, iTunes, and Music folders along with the iPodPrefs file.

      10. Drag the Music folder to your Desktop to copy it to your computer.

As the name implies, this is where music is stored on the iPod.

      11. Return to iTunes and drag the Music folder you just copied to iTunes’ main window.

nope apple did not want the music pireted so they made the file invisable. it is easy to beat though.

so your boyfriend puts his playlist on your ipod...that is kinda dumb if you ask me. you should put on your own music unless your boyfriend puts your music on there.
