Oh it's way beyond normal.

My problem is figuring out whether it's a positive or negative.

Is Peyote legal? I don't remember...

the fact ANY naturally growing plants are banned for consumption, regardless of 'religious' reasons or not, is bogus.

oh, and draco, as far as i know peyote is illegal in the states, except for certain native 'peyote churches' which are allowed to use it for religious purposes (seeing as they have been using it for thousands of years). i actually want to travel to arizona and try it for the first time under the guidance of the experienced.

hehe, i worked with a native who told me "never mix peyote with booze...i ended up lying face up on the ground all day while the sun pressed on my chest"

Good point. BTW, I'm in AZ, within walking distance of reservation, but unfortunately I don't have any Native American connections to lean on. I'm not sure I'd want to meet you either, with the superhappy smile and all, might just be too much for me.

Peyote does the same thing as San Pedro. Both contain mescaline. I have been on a San Pedro mescaline trip. It was interesting and quite mellow. Anyway, it would be cool to be able to go use Peyote with Native Americans. Seeing as how I am interested in Shamanism and all, it would be neat.

Anyway, regarding that tea article, are they referring to that south american witch's brew (as I call it, can't be bothered to look it up) with the DMT+MAOI combo? I think the court decision is a good thing. I mean, first it was 'all drugs are bad unless a doctor says otherwise.' Now, it's 'some drugs are bad all of the time except with a prescription but others are only bad for people not of a specific faith, while still others are completely safe and anyone over 18/21 is inherently able to use them responsibly.' As the arguments for prohibition get more and more complex and ridiculous, I think it's only a matter of time before prohibition itself is found unconcstitutional (and that would be a good thing, so says I).

I agree with you wholeheartedly. When the Government starts to question it's own authority like this, it could mean a giant step in this area.

Peyote does grow wild in Texas, but it takes so long to grow. My dad's friend had a peyote cactus and it took ten years to grow into a little bitty finger sized plant. San Pedro is much more practical and efficient. That isn't to say I wouldn't try it if I got the chance...

how long does it typically take? a friend who i've lost contact with said her mom's boyfriend was growing peyote, and it should take around 3 years...

Wild peyote takes a lot longer than home-grown. Wild cactuses 3"by 5" could have taken as much as 20 years to grow. Domestically, they grow 'faster'. Perhaps 3-5 years.

We can harvest as much as six feet off of one of our S.Ps. We have two like this one, and one little one. They all came from one baby cutting about 12 years ago.
