I saw this thing on a nature documentary, and a wasp plants it's egg on a ladybird. The egg hatches and grows inside the ladybird, and then explodes of it, and then uses the ladybird's dead body as a place to spin a cuccoon and pupate.
Damn, I won't be able to eat breakfst cerials for days, especially if they go soggy and slimy :barf:
Yeah, I've seen some pretty nasty shit in school. Looking at some of those parasites under the microscope really grossed me out. :makeitstop:
Aww! What you all talkin' about?! They're actually kinda cute.
*Cringe*
This was the one that freaked me out the most:

the parasite actually is inside the snail right, and it shoots out these tubers that go into the poor little snails eyes, making them look like worms so a bird will rip them off :blue:

Sacculina, a type of barnacle, begins its life in the ocean as a free-swimming larva. When the female locates a crab, however, she actually discards most of her own body, leaving a gelatinous blob that enters the crab and begins to grow. It sprouts rootlike tendrils which spread through the crab like a plant, even wrapping around its eyes. Eventually it forms a small hole on the crab's back, through which male Sacculina can enter and permanently join the female. The crab stops growing and stops mating, devoting all of its energy into caring for the parasite's millions of eggs and larvae as if they were its own. Male crab hosts are altered by the parasite to think and act like females, even changing physically to better carry the barnacle's young."
that just sucks...
I like snails! They are pretty interesting, but not as interesting as they taste when sauteed in garlic butter and served in the shell! YUM!
until you swallow the parasite...Quote:

NASTY! Just nasty!
Some of them seem to live in harmony with their hosts, which is ok by me because everyone seems happy. It's the other ones that creep me out. I hate shit like that. Stupid ass bugs. Grow your own damn bodies!
... and it busts your eyes out. Ewww...Quote:
