1. ## Wierd mind thingy...

Are you part of the 98%? Don't need pen or paper. Just answer as you go. Free will or synaptic wiring? You be the judge. Check out the following exercise, guaranteed to raise an eyebrow. There's no trick or surprise. Just follow these instructions, and answer the questions one at a time and as quickly as you can! Again, as quickly as you can but don't advance until you've done each of them ... really. Now, arrow down (but not too fast, you might miss something)......... What is: 1+5 2+4 3+3 4+2 5+1 Now repeat saying the number 6 to yourself as fast as you can for 15 seconds. Then scroll down. QUICK!!! THINK OF A VEGETABLE! ! Then scroll down. Again scroll down. You're thinking of a carrot, right? If not, you're among the 2% of the population whose minds are different enough to think of something else. 98% of people will answer with carrot when given this exercise. Freaky, huh? Send this web page to all your friends so they can see if they are part of the 98% or among the 2% of the population. Here is the limk the the site http://www.naute.com/puzzles/puzzle19.phtml

2. That is crazy....I am one of the 98 %, I guess.

3. I thought "cauliflour". Hah! Pwned.

4. At first I saw a mental image of a cabbage but I couldn’t think of what it was called, and the thought 'CARROT!' came into my head

5. I thought of a potato... lol I seen about the same thing. But with 'NAME A TOOL!'. People often tended to say 'red hammer'. I think the little math has nothing to do with that. I mean, screwdriver is a to long a word...

6. My fiance tried it too, and the same thing happened to him. He blurted "Carrot" and then he was like, damn it....He thought that it was cool though.

7. G'damnit. I said "Tomato!" not realizing that tomato was actually categorized as a fruit. :sweat1:

Potato + carrot have 6 letters, as does hammer (dunno about the red bit ) Edit: tomato= 6 letters! Iv'e cracked the code!

9. I said broccoli. Not surprising, really, I'm a bit of an oddball.

10. What ARE potatoes anyway? They arn't fruits, but dude, they can't be vegatables... they are like unions, only slightly different... :0 And dude, most people don't fall for this mind trick

11. Originally posted by Neruo And dude, most people don't fall for this mind trick I dunno. I know that I myself am not most people, but I sure fell for it. I was actually dissapointed that I did, but hey....

I was actually dissapointed that I did, but hey.... yeah we all want to be special Normally I allso just belong to the 'average joe'. I mean einstein and leonardo were left handed, I am right handed! I can better just end my life now : ( lol j/k. Anyway. this test = pure coďncidence. I mean if someone sais 'NAME A COLLOR" you don't say: Mauve or something.

15. potatos are tubers, and this trick also works with the number 14. but i think thats because people associate 14 with carat instead of carrot.

17. My roommate and I both thought of eggplants. Meh.

18. Originally posted by Aquanina My roommate and I both thought of eggplants. Meh. What a random vegitable. Eggplants are those purple pear things right? And it can't spell vegitable

19. I just experimented with this on my sister. She guessed 'pepper'.

20. I thought about this vegetable to the right: http://www.matbilder.se/cd-gronsaker/kal_(...landade)-01.jpg I don't know the name of it in English, but its Swedish name has three letters.

21. I scrolled down too far, then was like crap and went back up then i still said carrot. WTF?

22. cucumber.

23. Originally posted by Oneironaut G'damnit. I said *"Tomato!" not realizing that tomato was actually categorized as a fruit. * :sweat1: X_X Same here. Lmao.

24. I had a complete brain fart at the end and thought "what the hell is a vegetable? That's not a math problem!" then an image of a big green head of broccoli popped into my head. That 98% thing doesn't seem to apply to this (non-representational) sample of the human population, at least. Who originally did the study to come up w/ that stat?

25. I'm not sure who came up with it, but I’ve found a similar test that boasts the same statistic. (Below) http://www.trap17.com/index.php/part-2perc...ent_t33425.html http://www.englishforums.com/English/AreYo.../bwjnb/Post.htm And another forum discussion on it. I guess that the '98%' is made up.
