I think this sucks. Although I realize there is a lot of information that is not suitable for some peaple, it would be nice if we could some how let them see information on lucid deaming.
      Any suggestions?[/b]

What? How is this forum considered offensive? Who determines offensiveness? That's news to me--the last thing I want is anyone to be prevented from seeing the forum.
Each new day is a chance to turn it all around.

My schools system knows it is a forum so it blocks it. The message is generic no matter the reason.

Idea. Try getting here through another site such as replacing the http the first site uses to get you on another site with ads.

      http://electronics.howstuffworks.com/frame...views.com/forum

I can get around auto-blocking email with this.--------------------------^

The magic filter, which has some rather erratic behaviour. It has filtered Dreamviews out as being "offensive", for some inane reason, and has also filtered out (among other things):

      * A news website
      * Ebay
      * Information about Kenyan Upesi Stoves

[nah, our filters too clever for that one. Catches the 'use another website' trick]
[although I'm too clever for the filter and can circumvent it with a DOS prompt which I shouldn't get to but got to anyway]

That sucks man. My old school was so tightass with their security(I think I made them do it ) that they DISABLED THE RIGHT CLICK BUTTON!!!!! It was horrible!

hehe my school's tech guy hates me. we're all allotted 15mb or something like that for space in our own folders... we'll i brought in a cd with one picture that i needed... and about 9 rocko's modern life episodes... i put all the episodes on my file. ... a week later i get called into his office. yeah he got pissed. i told him to chill out and just delete them but he got all butt hurt like it was the end of the world or something. he's had an eye on me ever since. -- also i would bid on ebay items from school... he didn't like that either... gawd he was anal about his precious computers.

Last year I spilled coke all over my keyboard right after the computer teacher finished giving us a twenty minute long lecture about not bringing food or drink into the classroom. It was even funnier because I got away with it.

We have a quota at school. About 15MB only, or something. Although because our security really does suck, I got access to the network drive and changed my quota to 1GB. I don't use it all, obviously.

internet filtering is the first thing all good students need to know how to get around:

      1. On The menu bar click Tools->Internet Options
      2. Click the connections tab
      3. Click the lan settings button
      4. Check the Use proxy server for lan checkbox
      5. Click advanced
      6. In the http & secure textbox and port box try the following (If one of these dont work there are plenty of proxy lists on the net):

212.253.49.32 port 80 ( this one is working 4 me at the mo )

If that one doesnt work for you when you try another proxy make sure that is uses port 80 as most school firewalls will block the other ports.

If it still doesnt work after trying several then download mozilla firefox and try them in that.
Im a bit like WindowsXP, I can sort of multi-task but every now and then I crash.

My school isn't dumb, they've made sure you can't change any options in Internet Explorer (or any other program, for that matter), whatsoever. They've also got a very precise logging system that gets the username, time, computer used and various other things for anything that might be deemed remotely suspcious. Connecting with a proxy server would get logged here.

Although here's some other "hacks" (well, really they're just common sense), you can try if you still can't get round the filters.

Access DOS Prompt And C Drive
      Win95/98:
Open Notepad and type "C:command" (without the quotes) into it. Copy it to the clipboard.
Open a shortcut. If you have RM filtering, it will close the shortcut box again within a few seconds. This is why you have to be quick- press Ctrl+V and then Enter before it closes.
Run the shortcut. You now have access to the C drive, and, if you're lucky, all the other drives in the network.
Wait. This wasn't a hack for a filter. Oh well.

      Bypass Filter #1
This may or may not work depending on how good your school filter is.
      1) Goto Altavista.
      2) Use Translate.
      3) Select "French> English"
      4) Type in the web address box dreamviews.com
      5) Translate it. It may or may not come up.

      Bypass Filter #2
Use a HTTP tunnler. If they've filtered downloading you have a problem.

Bypass Filter #3 w/ CGI Proxy
      Try this
      And this
      And This
And if those don't work, try these
      This one
      This one
      And this one
And if they don't work, use these
      Like this
      And this
      Or perhaps this

Bypass Filter via Various web services
      Browser Emulator
      Warper
      Translator
Giant Archive of the Internet (SLOW!)
      Google Mirror

      worst school filter ever

my school has the most locked down system ive ever seen, ne where.
heres the stuff we cant do:
1.no right click(unless through using internet browser)
      2.no moving desktop icons
      3.no deleting anything
4.super internet filtering(cant go to www.bolt.com(its a freakin chat site!))
      5.no downloading
6.no changing properties of the desktop(ex. background color, wallpaper)
7.the entire c: drive is hidden, and you cannot access the View tab usually at top of menu to change this.
8.about the only freedom we do have is a drive known as the J:/ drive. everyone has access to everything in it, but u still cant delete or move anything.
9.if u just open the j:/ drive by clicking the link on desktop, you dont have access to any of the tabs at the top of the screen (File,Edit,View,Tools, etc.)
10.As if this wasnt enough, Everyone has to log in with their username which cannot be changed and everyone has a 6 digit number password. (Example: John Smith would log in as .smithJ.04(04 referring to that persons graduation year))
      11. Also, any file that you create and/or modify will have your name saved on it, so if you create sumthin bad you will get busted.

I have so far seen only a few ways to get around half of this crap and most of it is from this security program called Fortres.

Earliear in the year, a bunch of people(me included) found out the backdoor password to Fortres, so the school computer security was in havok for like 2 weeks, till they updated it. Now it just sucks...

The easiest way to get around filters is babelfish. Just translate the website from Korean to English or something.

I did independent study just fixing all the damn computers in the school last year, so I know our whole setup. Some neat things about our school network are:

1: The admin (and I did for awhile) uses a backdoor just for the convenence (sp?). The username and pass was "ddddd". He said he would change it after I got done with the class, and he did. After he did, I went onto a Win2k machine, and then tried to add user rights in order to see the list of all the users. I saw a username called "ddd", and guess what...!

2: We have a program called "CleanSlate" on all of the machines that is a real piece of shit. It it supposed to reset everything back to what it was on the hard drive when you reset it. It usually does do this, but it hits a bug about twice a year. Something will go over wrong, and it will end up writing crap where it isn't supposed to go. Usualy when this happens, we would reimage the machine (I heart Ghost). But in one case, all that happened was a corrupt registry (sp?) that would never get fixed by cleanslate, so it would be dumb to take the machine all apart just for that. A simple edit of autoexec and no more cleanslate!

3: You can print on the rival high schools printers across windows networking, enough said.

4: Most of the HP Laser printers are like huge ass servers with a printer attached, and are left with default passwords when installed. If you are skilled enough with pjl, you can get the printer to store small games, chat programs, emulators, ect... You can also get the printers to print something on top of every other page printed with that printer. Combine with number three for some uber fun!

5: Like the printers, the switches and some routers are installed with the default passwords still in use. One time I had this computer graphics class with a kid I didn't like very much. On every computer he got on, I would switch that interface off for the computer. It was great.

      6: Net Send.......

      edit:

7: all the usernames are in the format of first inital, then last name, like, "ddrums". And then the passwords are in the format of first than last inital twice, then first four letters of our student ID numbers. Almost all of the student ID numbers begin with "117". And then the password is like "dddd117n", where n is any number 1 through 9. This makes cracking logins really easy. I'm just glad I'm one of the few where my ID doesn't start with "117". (For me, cracking them doesn't matter much. I still have access to the whole list of students and their student id's.)

HEY! Fortres makes that program called cleanslate! Just edit out the lines in autoexec and then it shouldn't run!

      Change
      Code:
      @echo off

      C:FGCCS2FGCOWSA.EXE */Y:C:FGCCS2FGCCOW.VXD
      to
