      Do You See The Irony?

Okay, guys, by now you should know i'm a christian, right? i'm a dedicated Christian, and folow my beliefs strongly. i also play guitar, and i have tried getting in bands before. right now, i'm taking it cool, trying to work on just getting better at playing than being in a band that can't play. what's the point in being in a band if you can't play you instrument correctly?

there is no point in it, so i dropped out. and i have dropped out and jumped back in over and over again. i was in a band recently, about three or four months ago, and we played great. but, not to sound compeltely selfish or rude, i was heart of the band. without me, it was absolutely nothing. i wanted to play in a Christian band, in fact, it was already established that we would be a Christian band. (we can play heavy music and it still be christian you know) So i would enforce it, you know, be the guy. i wasn't trying to be hard to get along with, but i was a true Christian, and Still am and hope to always be, but these guys weren't. they lied to my face for nearly two years.

they eventually KICKED ME OUT because i wanted to be a Christian in a Christian Band. what kind of crap is that?! anyways, i said forget it, they weren't helping my walk with Christ anyways. so i left the band. but eventually it hit me a while back, that I was the one who started this band, i was the one who put my every single day and breathe into it, I was the one who worked my butt off to make it better and I was the one who tried to help my friends.

So the 'let me back in' after i fussed and complained and made 'ammends' for my 'wrong doings' (isn't that great, i did something WRONG?! that's outragous! i did absolutely nothing wrong. thewse guys did. they kicked me out of my OWN band!). i listened to them practice one time, after they had 're-organize'...and never went back.

the music was horrible, the feel of it just didn't match the 'music' they were playing, and it didn't match my moral standards either. so i dropped out. but the thing that's really got me, is they got six guys in their band now, totally recent stuff, right?

they're sposed to be a 'good band'. well, check this, they got a Lead Guitarist, a Rythm Guitarist, a Drummer, a Bassist, and a Vocalist. the lead guitarist is a bass gutarist, not a regular guitarist, and he knows absolutely nothing about guitar (i know because i play one and have been for four long and hard years of practice, i'm not bad at all and i know how to play it right). so he's they're lead guitarist, after i left, that's all they had left. The Rythm guitarist can't play worth a spit on a carpet, i can play twenty times better, and i'm the one who stopped playing to get BETTER. The drummer, though he's got good skill, he's just not easy to get along with. plus the fact that he tried to keep up with the guitarist and not hold the beat of the song. the bassist...the guy has been playing for maybe half a year. he knows nothing about playing music or the bass for that matter. how about the vocallist...now he's a killer drummer, awesome drummer, but they got him on vocals b/c they think he can sing..he can barely hold a tune.

guys, not to bring these guys down, but dude, they need to stop playing for a while, learn HOW to play, then start back up later when they mature some.

      wow, that just sucks man...

but, look at it on the "Bright" side:
-if they're so bad, they'll realise it, and quit it alltogether...

now, go make yourself another band...

or go sing & play for yourself!

precisely what i am doing, but i just thought it was really funny. they're messing up so bad, and i just look at them and say, "You know not what you do". i tried to help them, they ignored me, so now they can deal with it on their own. when they come back, realizing ho mucht hey messed up, i'll still be there to help them, if they want it.

Don't worry about it, cd. You know what you want and others shouldn't exclude you because you don't conform with their standards. God has better things in store for you. And besides... those guys were dragging you down.

Don't worry about it too much. I am sure that you can find another form of a Christian Band. Don't let them get to you at all, and if you have to, keep your religion secret.

When I was in 7th, I would get bruised if I even said 1 word about my religion.
Also, the religion I was in before I became a Crescent Viewan was so mean to me anyways, even though they were suppose to teach about kindness.

And I respect every religion, and so does the head of my religion. In fact, they compliment many monks and popes all the time, because they say that every religion is like a puzzle piece which puts together our religion.

But at this point, should this be in the 'religion' forum...Seeker?

i'm sorry if i'll come off rude here, but that's just not how it should work. i'm looking for people who i can lift up in christ and who can lift me up in christ, not the other way around. if i find guys who are not christians, it's most likely they'll pull me down, and that's not my goal. i can't just forget about them, they're my friends, they need some help, and if i have the ability to do it, i am obligated to do so.

i hate to say it, but if anyone ever teaches kindness and doesn't give it is a complete hypocryte. anyone who ever says they're religious and doesn't fulfill that aspect is simply using the religion for their own benefit and i resent them. even if it's a buddist, i would resent them just the same. Jesus says he would rather have someone either a Christian or not a Christian, but never inbetween. here's an article where i can show you why:

i like the fact that you respect all religiouns, as many don't understand that a religioun isn't just something you beleive, it's your life, and you can't just change it. if you can just jump into another religion just at the snap of a finger, i can hardly say you were truly religious in the first place.

they kick u out of a christian band because they're not christian? They just don't know what they are doing. Stick to your own thing, play songs on your own, you're bound to find someone with common interests.

Well, you shouldn't try to force them to believe what they don't want to anyways. For example, I believe in BC, the Indians got here on a big ship (and not a strip of land), and many people don't believe me. I accept this, and I just move on. And I am somewhat Christian, but I study more than the bible. Kindness and Indians are other things we might study, as well as other religions.
I am not saying you are rude, because I think people have a right to act in any way they want, but there was this one member that was shoving religion down my throat, and wouldn't leave me alone about it until I went behind Seeker and let him take care of it. I am sorry, but that is how I feel that you shouldn't force people to do that.

Well, I believe in treating people with kindness, whether they live up to there religion or not, and I do hope that someday that they will join Crescent View, but I am not going to force them.
I never heard about Jesus saying that. The only thing I know is that he told people to treat everyone with kindness (at least that is what I have seen in it!)

I am truely religious, but all the religions to us are like puzzle pieces, as I said before, so every religion has at least a part in ours (we respect them in other words)

Well, Nes, let me clarify one thing, i didn't 'force' anyone to do anything. it was an agreement, and they didn't hold it, only i held it. i simply told them, instead of forcing them into anything, that i wouldn't be in the band if they played non-christian music. i explained it to them and why, i even gave them tons of verses to explain my reasoning, but still, the drummer, (Kendall) was determined to get me out, so he used it against me and said that i was trying to use it to control the band (which i wasn't). anyways, he and i are two in a pod, we both don't take crap, but i'm not easily swayed and i don't try to manipulate anyone. he is both, and he did both. i didn't even want him in the band (Me and Jeremy [the bassist] were the ones who started it), and i told Jeremy this exact thing, "I don't like him, he just doesn't act right, he's got a hot temper, and i don't want anyone in the band who might destroy it or try to take control of it". not only did Jeremy insist that he joined, so i had no choice, but he did exactly what i said he would do.

i didn't force them to do anything, Kendall went in there, knowing our full agreement as a band, and distorted it, making it 'okay' to play a few non-christian songs, then he went full-blast and wanted to play nothing but non-christian, and that's when he tried to force ME to do what HE wanted, when he was in no possition to make decisions yet in the band. he was a new member and had no exact say yet, as we needed to get to know him better.

      does this clear anything up?

Okay, I see. That was really cheap what he did! Just wait, and let him wipe his own crap up, even when he threw it at you.

lol, now you see why i just can't let it go as you say, because i don't want to treat him like he did me and my friend (he pretty me 'stole' them from me, not that they were real friends, not if they'd just leave me like that), i want to help them as much as i possibly can, but i don't know if he'll accept it.

Like I said before, you can't force them to accept your religion, because then that would be pushing him. If you make friendly suggestions, and he rejects it, just let it go and talk about something else.

yea, i plan on honing on my skills, and doing alot of it. as for helping them, trying my best, but i know i can't force them to do anything, and i'm not going to sit here and say that 'they absolutely MUST follow this specific way of life". they have their own lives, beliefs, but even though i don't agree with them, i still want to help them. the style of life they are pursuing is going to hurt them more than help them and they will eventually realize it, i just hope it's now that later.

That is good, you don't want to force them. You may try to help them if you want to, but don't push it.

I wouldn't spend too much of my energy worrying about them. From a purely artistic point of view, it sounds like they were not up to your standards in the first place.

I am not a Christian or religious at all for that matter. But I do believe that if the band was formed as a Christian Rock band that it was silly for them to try to be anything else. They should either support the vision or go play elsewhere. It's really no different than joining a Beatles cover band and saying you only want to play heavy metal.

Stick to your vision and your standards. There are plenty of musicians who would love to play with you.

I just find it silly that Christians are so isolated from reality they even feel the need to fill their music with Christianity. I am not at all surprised if ANYONE, Christian or, does not want to turn their band into a simple-minded evangelical choir. Being Christians doesn't dictate you have to make crappy music only other Christians even want to listen to.
