I was still in pain 2 days after, even a week after. Just stick it out and call your dentist if it hurts more than you think is humane to be normal.

Yeah it is normal if you don't have a tendancy to heal fast. I actually recovered from the surgery after 2 days (enabling me to eat solid foods, and go to work again), but had dry sockets for 5 more days (which didn't really hurt too much).

A dry socket is when the outside heals over, while the inside is not completely healed, and can get infected. They had to put these bad-tasting things in them in order for the outside not to heal over the inside quite yet.

BTW, could someone move this to the Lounge?

I rinsed with salt water after every meal and had a little syringe to flush out the holes so no food was stuck in them. I had all four pulled, but didn’t get a dry socket.

Had a tooth pulled 2 months ago and got dry socket b/c part of the root broke off during the extraction and they (the dentist) didnt know it.....2 weeks, alot of pain and 3 bottles of Lortab later that little piece of root/tooth had pushed itself up and out.

      I hate dentists.

......but on the plus side I did lose 10 lbs. in those 2 weeks....best diet ever!

no place I wanna be, that's for sure!

as for this flushing and syringe business, I rinsed my mouth once, decided I hated the taste of salt water, and then just didn't rinse or brush my teeth for almost a week until the stiffness in my jaw went away. No problems, though that nagging socket pain might have lasted an extra day or two due to my abusive treatment of my mouth and lack of oral hygeine. Although in retrospect I didn't eat very much at the time, the oc made me forget all about food for a few days.

2 days seems a bit long...

      check with your dentist.

or perhaps you should have done that first... BEFORE CONSULTING A DREAMING FORUM.

      peace, jake.
