I so incredibly just saved a bird's life just now. I was watching Emeril with my son and our cat Rusty roared into the tv room as if someone had shoved a white hot sewing needle up his ass. Then I heard a +thud+ on the window and Rusty jumped at it, and re-emerged with a little sparrow in his mouth. I rushed over (hoping he wasn't injured bad) and was able to grab him carefully. I looked him over and saw that he was fine so I put him outside in the birdbath. He just kinda looked stupified for a minute or two, then cocked his head, looked at me and Chris, then flew away as if nothing had happened. |

i don't know if i should be happy for the bird, or sad for Rusty . . . |

Rusty'll get over it. It must be something in the air because Luci's cat Stinky attacked the neighborhood cute kitten. Stupid ass. I'm so not happy with him right now. =/ |

Me and Draco saved two baby sparrows from a cut-down tree once...one died a week later when a neighborhood jackass did some very twisted things to it (He wound up suffering for it), and the other lived for a few months before it died too. It was really sad 'cuz it was just learning to fly and eat seeds (instead of the really nasty, mushy baby bird food we had). I think it broke its neck, but I'm not sure... |

We have a glass sliding door, and a mass of Cacti by them. So, we have gotten at least a bird a year that has hit the glass. Mainly humming birds. Most of them were alright, but a couple of them didn't fly away. |

my mom has two cats. one of them, Riker, is a fairly accomplished hunter. the other one, Bhaji, not so much. a few summers ago, my mom, my little brother, and the two cats were all in the garage with the door open. a bird flew into the garage, smacked into the wall (must have been a dumb bird - it wasn't even a glass door. a bloody wall!), and fell to the ground. Bhaji, who just happened to be right near where this happened, immediately picked up the bird in her mouth. she and Riker both, according to my mom and brother, had a look on their faces of "OMG, i can't believe you/I actually caught something!" then, as she was adjusting her grip on it, she accidentally dropped it out of her mouth. of course, it immediately flew away. that's probably the only time Bhaji has ever caught something. |

Figgie, the only cat I've got left (I've had her most of my life) is like 14 years old and still manages to catch little rabbits. |
