Why Utah sucks almost as bad as Bush does.

Relative Popularity of Bush in the US

So that's an animation of the United States. There's several slides, and it's updated reguarly as far as I know. Anyway, it shows how much more or less popular Bush is in each state when compared to the national popularity level.

Watch the whole thing, up to June 2006, and you might notice something: Only TWICE out of all those slides is Utah NOT the highest supporter of Bush. Utah is consistantly the BIGGEST supporter of Bush. The only times it isn't, it's only back by one or two percent. Yup. That's what it's like living in a massively fascist-level Republican state. Not that the people aren't nice--they're just really stupid when it comes to polls. Almost all of Utah votes Republican, regardless of the issue at hand. To a mindless level. I've tried having intelligent political discussions with teachers, relatives, and friend's parents. More than thirty, in all. Out of all I talked to, only one didn't approve of Bush's foreign policy. Of all those who supported his foreign policy, only TWO were up to speed on the Middle East. They all knew about Iraq, of course, but only two knew that Iran was controversial at the moment. Only two knew why the Dubai port deal was controversial. Isn't that sad? Massive ignorance. Not that it's unique to Utah, of course. It's just ignorance of a particularly Republican nature here.

Hey! I find that offensive! I live in Utah, and I am okay with Bush being president, but only b/c I thought John Karry wouldn't do that great of a job...but really, don't take it out on us!!

I live in Utah, too, y'know. And I don't mind Utah being Republican, but I DO mind it being mindlessly Republican. It isn't that voters reasoned out the issue at hand and voted Republican, it's that they just went out and voted Republican without so much as a glance at the issues at hand.

Well, actually, maybe it depends on what part of Utah you live in. The kids at my high school (before I graduated, that is) are against Bush.

Nes, the problem with your logic is that you're talking about HIGHSCHOOLERS. Typically, students, especially high school and college students, is that they tend to me more liberal than the typical person, especially in Utah. Talk to the parents of the same kids, and 90% or more will be conservative Republicans.

I'll bet it depends more on the generation. my high school seemed to be about 99% liberal, yet my town tends to vote conservative.

I think maddox wrote something about utah, but it looks like it's a ways back. If memory serves me right, it was pretty funny.

I, for one, am GLAD that I don't live in Utah. I don't how a guy like you survives out there, Tsen.

Maybe...but my dad and grandma are strictly democrat, and I am neither.

How about we don't say anymore about UT sucking. Because if Utah sucks, then I suck as well (well, it is true).

No, because the two aren't mutually exclusive. You don't have to live in Utah to suck, and you to have to suck to live in Utah.

Otherwise, I'D suck for living in Utah too. And I don't think I suck. ...well, I HOPE I don't suck.

Well, that goes to show that Utah doesn't really suck at all. It is only the choices people sometimes make that suck, not the people or the state that sucks itself.
In fact, Utah is the best place for Skiing and Snowboarding!

Well, the state itself cannot suck. May be a desert, but it is a lot more humid than Arizona!

Just so you know, if you are saying the state sux, you are saying anyone who lives in it sucks too. That means I suck, right?

speaking as a resident of utah, i will fully agree with tsen that it sucks. this is NOT to say that everyone who lives in utah sucks. in fact, i wouldn't even say the majority of people here suck. in fact, i'm sure the vast majority are kind, caring people. the only problem is that many/most utahns are stupid dumbasses when it comes to politics, just like tsen said! i can't wait until august, when i move from the reddest of the red states to one of the bluest of the blue, california.
