      Your Favorite Dog Breed

Mine would have to be the Golden Retriever (yeah I know, so original ).

Beautiful, intelligent, friendly and sweet, how could you resist? I used to own one and he was the best dog I ever had. I can't wait to get another in the future. I love all dogs though. I believe any breed of dog can be a good pet. But man... whenever I see a Golden, I start to drool. I think Golden/Labrador mixes, aka Goldadors, are awesome as well. I'd love to own one, but they're harder to find.

Maybe we should have a seperate thread to post pictures of our pets in. Edit: here it is! http://www.dreamviews.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=32646

I had and have a rough collie.

Great dogs, really smart. My old one you could leave a plate of food on the floor and she wouldn't touch it, no matter what. You could also leave the front door wide open, wouldn't go out.

My current one, is a lad and is a lot more hyperactive. Doesn't bite unless your playing and always pees outside, dead smart and was quick to learn stuff.

Other favourites are shit zoos and saint bernards also look really cool. Golden retrievers too!

Ah gosh, that's what's most annoying about my current dog. He is a runner. If he gets outside, it's his goal to run away from you, and straight into TRAFFIC. It's horrible whenever he gets out, I'm always scared out of my wits. My golden retriever was great off leash and I could take him anywhere, and he'd always come when called. It makes taking a dog for a walk sooo much easier.

I really have a love for the big dogs. Irish Hound Dogs are just such a majestic breed. They don't really look it but the way they carry themselves is what I like.

I have a Pitbull and a Jack Russell Terrier. The pit is the biggest, most gentle teddy bear in the world. He loves to be massaged and babied and he listens really well. He's a big brute though and doesn't play gentle. He has no problems running into you from excitement (I had my ACL reconstructed last summer because of one of his playful run-ins).

Believe it or not, the Jack Russell Terrier is the troublemaker. But I love my two babies.

Large breeds are definitely the way to go. Goldens are great - they are loving, friendly, high trainable and intelligent, and beautiful dogs. Though when I get a dog, I'll have to opt for one with a shorter haircoat. I think Weimaraner's are very cute. Some people think they're ugly but I think they're adorable!

Hey, who let the cat lover in here!!?

I'm not exactly sure what my girl has, but I know she's got Golden in there somewhere:

She's a rescued dog and I was told she's Golden and Sheltie mix. But Shelties (Shetland sheepdogs?) are way smaller than Golden's and she's pretty full-sized. I'm guessing maybe Bordercollie or German Sheppard?

Anyway, it's rare she doesn't get a compliment when I take her to the park (shown above). Smart? Hell yeah, but I've never really come across a dog that wasn't. I mean, smart compared to what, anyway? More like claravoyant - she knows if I'm leaving the house before I even know it!

My favorite features on her are her eyes (with the dark "eyeliner" around them), soft shinny coat (lion-like mane) and beige wet nose!

She's beautiful!! Definitely mostly golden. She might have only 1/4 of something else. Either way, she's gorgeous. Can I have her?

Don't worry, Burns. Me and Courtney've got your back.

At any rate, while labs are great dogs (I've had two in my life, though both had to be put down at some point), I'd love to have a German Shepherd and a pug. A pug because they're so cute and wiley! A German Shepherd because they're big and I enjoy their temprament.

But I'll get a cat before anything else.

Well, if I really really really HAD to give her up (never), I couldn't let her go to such a warm place as Orange County -- she must have her snowy winters for making snow angels:

Haha, aaaaawwwww. Well I can always take her up into the mountains! When I get a snowboard (next winter) I'll be up there all the time. And my friend has a cabin up there where we'll stay, and there's a doggie friend up there for her to play with.

I think she might take a liking to the Orange County weather. How about she takes a trip out here for a week and we let her decide for herself?

they look scary as hell, like a wolf or something, but very sweet and loving dogs

we used to have one named Brittany and, as a cat lover, I can honestly say she was better than a cat...she was quiet, calm loved to snuggle, potty trained easily, SO NICE, patient with my mean brother who loved to tease her, so loving to all people, didn't take no shit from other dogs

heh she used to tattle on the cats when they were in the kitchen stealing food, and she'd snap at the cats when they stole her food or water (except she let my cat Kramer drink her water, but I think that's because she took care of him ever since he was a tiny kitten, so they kinda bonded...plus he was an all around bad ass cat)

I don't really have a favorite breed. Our dog is rescued. If and when we get another dog, it will be rescued.

Our dog has the coloring, quirks, personality, energy and intelligence of a border collie, but with shorter hair and a head more reminiscent of a shepherd. Whatever she is, she is my favorite breed... right now.

I would have to say in this order, Rotty, German shepard,Malamute(my mom only has these kind of dogs) Mastiff or Labs ..I do not care so much for the little dogs but still would choose them over lizards

I love English Bulldogs and have been shopping/researching the breed for several years now. My grandmother had one as I was growing up and it made a lasting impression on me.

Right now I'm the proud owner of a 7 yr. old Welsh Corgi. There are pics of him in another thread, but I'm too lazy too dig them up.

the Pomeraneans, and some of the other toy breeds, are as good frineds and companions as any larger dog, without eating and pooping one out to the limits of endorance.

But the Collies and the Shepherds (the Border Collie being the best there), and such Working Dogs, are the smartest, and the least likely to become aggressive -- to turn against humanity as some of the Fighting and Bear Baiting Breeds often do.
