      The Best Video Game!

What do you gamers out there think is THE BEST?

I been wondering on what genre is the best and also what is the best of each genre and tell why.

      List your opinions!

      Ex:

      FPS: Halo
      Commentary: <insert>
      RPG: FFVII
      Commentary: <insert>

(In no way my real preference)

      FPS: Wolfenstein
Reason: The original, even better than Doom IMHO.

      RPG: FF6
      Reason: 'cause the rest suck.

      Fighting:
      -Punch Out... just plain fun.
-Street Fighter II & The Mortal Kombat series... these don't need explantions.

*Special mention to GTA3, Devil May Cry, and Manhunt.

Myth 1,2,3! I think maybe 2 was the best.
I think that would be a strategy game.

The Biohazard/Resident Evil remake for the Gamecube.
Why? Because there's nothing like pissing your pants all over again.

Also: King's Field (all of them); Neverwinter Nights; Doom (because it blazed a path for all other FPSers); Legend of Zelda (all of 'em); Everquest (any game that consumes that many hours of someone's life demands mention); Final Fantasies 4, 5, 6, and 9. Sorry, but I thought 8 sucked; Super Smash Brothers Melee (because nothing beats a good beatdown); Star Control 2; Street Fighter/Marvel vs. Capcom 2; Soul Caliber (because I can kick Seri's ass any day! muahahaha! )

Hrm... My train of thought derailed. I'll post more as they come to me.

      FPS: UT2004.
UT2004 is so cool because it has a 2004 on the end which is better than 2003 and the magazines say it is good so that it was I am saying two. u should get it.

RUNNER UP FPS: NOLF + NOLF2
Hilarous game. You should hear some of the talks the enemies say when they don't know you are there.
Civilan: Would you like a monkey?
Enemy Agent: No, I would not like a monkey.
C: But it is a very fine monkey!
EA: I do not want a monkey.
C: Have this monkey. Only 20 dollars american.
EA: I do not want a monkey!
C: Are you insulting my monkey?
EA: I spit upon your monkey.

      Or this:

Guy (behind door): I love you...your very passion...come here....
      You open the door.
You see the guy having dinner with a goat.
Guy: Um...er...what's the goat doing in here? Yeah?

      Or this:

      Man: I love you Jane...
      Woman: I love you too...Adam
      *kissing noises*
      You walk in.
Man: Er, um, we were just counting the inventory. How many have you seen so far, Jane?
      Woman: Er...6... And you?
      Man: Uhm, 6 too.

I loved NOLF 1, it was so funny.

As I can see, nobody has the same taste as I do:

      best FPS: half life original.

Best RPG's : Baldur's gate series, wizardry 8 and arcanum.

best turn based strategy: Birthright (1996)

best RT strategy: command and conquer: red alert 1...

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri was my absolute, no competition favourite for many years. Now, after much hard thought, it's shared number one with Morrowind.

      Grand theft Auto Vice City!!!!

It is just too good of a game. You can do anything and everything. It is the most complete game i have ever played...

Super Soccer: I only had 3 SNES games, so I had too settle for playing this game for about 10 years...

NES: Ghostbusters 2....great game!!!! You got to drive the car around and use the statue of liberty in your quest to kick Viggo's ass

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: They are great, and everything related to them was great(except the third movie)

Bart vs. The space mutants: A classic. The simpsons go against alien invasors that are trying to take over the world....

Its funny, all these games were really lacking in many ways, yet I prefer them from many of today's games. I have very fond memories of them....

Pokemon. I remember playing Pokemon on the Gameboy Color. I ran around palette town getting frustrated about where the heck Professor Oak was for about...3 days. Then I ran in the grass and then he decides to come out, the lazy git.

      Hrmm... *Ponders*

FPS: Perfect Dark - Probably the funnest multiplayer FPS I have played. Just too fun to punch your friend beside you so he can get slaugheterd by Dark Sim and.. and.. ohh the memories.

RPG: Final Fantasies - Need I say anything?

Table Top RPG: RIFTS!!! - Best.. mmorg(? - I am not sure of the acronym..) Ever!

Fighting: Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance - Finally, a fighting game that does not concentrate solely on "special moves" ....

Action/Adventure: Devil May Cry - This game just rocks.

      RTS: StarCraft - Classic.

Favorite Game Ever: Metal Gear Solid - I cannot summise the awesomeness that is this game.

There are so many other games but those I would say are my top favorites. Wish I could remember the acronym for table-top games.. I do not think I ever actually knew what the acronym stood for..

      best games evrr:

Final Fantasy Tactics: i absolutely love these types of games...you know, like an RPG, only with a battleground and movement and more than 3 characters...but Final Fantasy Tactics also had a marvelous story...i had to play the game 3 times through before i actually was able to discern wtf was going on...imo how all rpg type games should be

Disgaea: much like Final Fantasy Tactics advance...story line was pretty simplistic, but in anime style, had great humor, and was totally wack, so it made up for it...however, this game was for lvl up junkies like me, cause you can go to level 9999, and transmigrating too...transmigrating is where your character goes back to lvl one, but retains a portion of his previous power...only at lvl 1...you can do this to any character at any time. theres also randomly created levels etc. so i dont get bored leveling up on the same level over and over...currently im level 5000~ on my main character

Starcraft: awesome...simply awesome...great UCG or RTS or whatever you like to call it...very well balanced imo, and i liked the fact that blizzard decided to go macro intensive with the startcraft series and micro intensive on the warcraft series, so fans of either will have a game...hehe i was #1 USWest on the starcraft ladder for 3 years in a row (off and on, but at the end of the year when the ladder reset i was top)

Warcraft III(or 2 or 1, but 3 is most recent): see starcraft, only this game is all about doing more with less units...i never attained rank #1 on the USWest ladder, but i have been as high as rank 7 on more than one occasion, and have beaten many top players...

Neverwinter Nights: cause LS said so ;p (and it deos rock)

Quake II: imo the best FPS...the only one i ever really got into...i dont like FPSs much anymore, but this was friggin sweet back then

...as far as MMORPGs go (Everquest UO DAoC etc) i have played just about every single one out (even the korean non-US ones) except Anarchy Online...my favorites are old skool UO before they came out with the first expansion (go to www.wtfman.com and click on either the server link or the link that say In Por Ylem to learn more), Dark Ages (not of Camelot, just Dark Ages... www.nexon.com) and Shadowbane...Shadowbane is prolly the absolute best one out (not graphics wise, as nothing beats out FFXI yet), because of the intricate PvP and guild systems...i do not play any mmorpgs currently tho, as i am weak and pathetic, and cant beat anybody in PvP, and refuse to play a non-PvP game...currently im waiting on World of Warcraft to come out...thats gonna be awesome, and unfortunately i didnt get into the beta T.T

...im not gonna get into RPGs really, but for the most part, anything made by Square (now SquareEnix) is generally rockin awesome, but i have this thing where i wont beat an RPG, right when i get to the end boss, i just leave it...this is to say 'this game was so boring, i got the the end, and dont care to see the ending'...the only games i have beaten through and through (which means they rock imo) are FFVII, FFVI, FVIII, Secret of Mana, Secret of Evermore, Lufia, and Lufia II...yes, i have played many many other RPGs aside Square ones, its just they pretty much werent very good...i mean storyline wise...as thats the only real reason to play an RPG imo

...anyway i really tried to cut this down, as there are tons of great games, these are just my favs...oh i forgot about DDR...well all bemani games in general...they're good too, cause they help nerds be less fat (as so many are)...anywho, my 2 cents

...anyone notice that it costs a penny for your thoughts, then you put in your 2 cents? where deos that other penny go? ...someones makin bank...

Amen! I spent so much of my life on that.

Each one of my characters can take the final boss themselves.

      I know....

Mexico was banned from that world cup, and they only used the top 16 teams for the game....

Made up all the players names, though. It was funny cause brazil has edson(which is pele's first name and was very skilled in the game) and argentina had diego(as in maradona). Colombia's keeper was named Loco which I thought was a funny reference to Rene Higuita....

I just realized most of you have no clue what I am talking about....except Alma....I mean Kalmah. Well one makes the difference...

Yeah I remember the names... I remember there was a few more. Don't quote me on this but I think the Netherlands had a Johan, and Ireland a George. Haven't played the game in a while so I don't remember too well.

      Huh tons of great games...

Special mentions go to Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for being my first game ever, Quake 2 for being my first FPS, and of course Ocarina of Time for being my favorite game of all time.

... Let me first begin by a short, non offensive rant. I hate this Incredifind (some small adware we have on our computer that brought me there when I pressed Submit before, however my mom had something in the microwave, thereby compromising our wireless (B) network, thereby, when I click back a few times, my post was gone.). Thanks life, u r teh best!

I grew up on the Command & Conquer trilogy. My older brother would buy every new one that came out, and I'd tag along and play them all as well. (Memories of our phone being tied up due to DirectIP modem play..) But then with the new C&C Renegades and C&C Generals (haven't bought them), no more C&C for me... I played the C&C Generals demo but it gave even our best computer a heart attack trying to render the graphics..

I played SimCity for some time...

FPS: Unreal Tournament 2003/2004, Half Life series, and Halo are my favorites.

Straying from the initial topc of THE BEST game, some other good games I grew up on: The Duke Nukem trilogy! (teh b00bies!), Quake I, II, and III arena, FireFight (dl and see), Theif, Delta Force, Commanche 3, Need for Speed, stuff like that.

But my all-time favorite game: Sonic the Hedgehog on Sega Genesis (2p). As I see, RedStarSoldier liked this too. Great game..

I spent so much time trying to get HyperSonic... It was all worth it though.

I used to play Red Alert, Tiberian Sun, and all those old school C&Cs a lot with mods added in. They were cool.

      Halo...
Most of the Final fantasy games
      Sim city 4
      Everquest and Eve
Soulcalibur (believe anything LS says about kicking my ass in soulcalibr, she is highly cool and should be Queen of the World.)
