Learn on an acoustic. It will do wonders for your technique. I learned on electric and can't quite make the transition to acoustic... I found I was relying too much on the distortion to cover up my crappy sound. |

Early Morning Moment,
A Glimpse of Joy,
But soon it's Over, and I return to Dust...

I feel that I must retract my last post concerning this topic. Since you said that your friend might get a guitar, too, it sounds like you may find that your competing for the position for second guitarist in your future band. In which case, run out and get a decent electric guitar and amp today! You don't have enough time to be sitting home learning diminished 5ths, hybrid picking, arpeggios, & music theory on your shiny new acoustic. By the time your ready to pick up an electric and SHRED, your buddies may have landed a record contract and be touring by then! |

Well, I got an acoustic..It is a begginers acoustic, so it is a bit smaller than a normal one.I guess my grandparents heard me talking about getting a guitar and they went out and bought this one.Im happy with it, but as soon as I learn some basic stuff, Im either buying a bigger acoustic or switching to electric.Oh yeah, I got plenty of time because my friend doesn't get his guitar for a few months. |

You guys suck.
being a drummer I'm not one to talk, but get an electric, only because the music you can play on it is superior. |

After a year and a half, I finally got in for guitar lessons, yay! |
