I don't think sitboy is quite ready to return just yet.

(Note that bans were not transferred over, which is how he's managed to return.)

you don't even want to *try* and give him another chance? How are you ever gonna know who's ready to return if you don't give them the chance to show it?

There's history with sitboy. If we were ready to give him another chance, we would.

Its been over a year since he was banned, I mean, if you don't think he's ready after that, you probably never will.

Try doing this:

Un-ban him, but for 2 weeks or so, set his posts on Moderation (like the ones in the Help section), and see what happens.

I was there. I had been browsing the site for around 2 months before I joined. He got banned 2 weeks after I joined.

Heres something to think about though. When you banned him, he was what, 14 or 15? Over a year has gone by. Who knows what has gone on in his life. Maybe he's changed in that year, alot of people do. I mean, how many of you acted the same way after a year had passed?

Sometimes you have to give the person the benifit of the doubt and just trust they've changed. He was back for almost a whole day before he was re-banned, I'd think if he was going to do anything even remotely bad he would have done it.

The Smiley face he posted was more of a joke to his previous days. Seriously though, i've been talking with him, and he has changed alot since he was first here. Its just sad to see so many people hold a grudge even after a year has passed, and keep harping on the past. Try to look forward and quit thinking about things he has done.

If i remember right, Techboy and kaniaz posted some "private" PM's once of Icedawgs, and yet you were able to forgive and forget apperantly. I'd think that was worse what they did. Its a shame you guys can't do the same with other members.

I haven't heard a dissenting voice yet from the staff in regards to sitboy; we seem to be rather united in our stance. Many of the past bans were done unilaterally on my part, but the whole sitboy situation took place while I was absent, and the staff as a team did what was best for the forum: removed him. Perhaps because many of the staff were involved, and perhaps because he was probably the most troublesome user we had had up until that point, he has [unfortunately for him] essentially attained a state of infamy here. Regardless, as I understand it, sitboy didn't even understand why what he was doing or saying was wrong, and I know one single year is not enough to attain a firm enough grasp on necessary social conventions. His ban will remain.

So far as the smiley face goes, well I suppose it would be folly to attempt to draw any kind of substantial conclusion from one trivial, isolated event. However, let's just say I'm not surprised that he chose to use it in a thread that announces his return to the forum.

Our unbannings take into account the endearing or admirable qualties of the individuals. In other words, we look at how a particular user has benefited the community, and/or what potential is there, so we strive to do what is best for the community. Unfortunately, I just don't feel we would benefit from sitboy's return.
